Abstract

History learning has a vital role in developing students' knowledge. However, it often faces challenges such as a lack of interest, which can make students feel bored, and often repeated material. This research uses a quantitative approach with an experimental design to identify students' learning motivation in history subjects in class XI SMA Negeri 3 Semarang, both in groups that receive project-based learning and those that do not. The research results showed that the average pre-test score for the experimental class was 114.125, and for the control class was 110.125. Analysis of the coefficient of determination shows that around 24% of the variation in learning motivation can be explained using project-based learning. In contrast, the remainder, 76%, is influenced by other factors not examined in this study. These findings confirm that project-based learning significantly impacts students' learning motivation in the context of history learning in high schools and can provide valuable insights for developing more effective and engaging learning strategies in the future.

Abstract

This study explores the relationship between the ruling regime and the hegemonic educational framework by examining the content of history textbooks within this context. The research used historical methods to collect comprehensive data from official and unofficial written historical sources. The findings indicate that the prevailing spirit of the age, as dictated by the authorities in power, significantly influenced the content of history education. Specifically, the study reveals that the educational agenda was strategically utilized to sustain and reinforce Suharto's power through the history curriculum from 1975 to the KBK Curriculum in 2004. The results demonstrate how the regime's interests permeated the educational sphere, shaping the historical narratives presented to students in a way that served to legitimize and perpetuate the ruling authority. This manipulation of historical content within textbooks underscores the broader dynamics of power and control in the educational sector, illustrating the extent to which education can be co-opted to maintain political dominance. Through this detailed analysis, the study contributes to a deeper understanding of the intersection between political authority and educational content, highlighting education's critical role in preserving hegemonic power.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the needs of teachers and students for instructional media in the form of comics. As a research and development (R&D) study, it followed several stages: identifying potential problems, collecting data, designing the product, validating it with experts, making revisions, and conducting product trials. The instructional media, specifically a comic about the history of the Indonesian National Movement, was developed using Photoshop CS6 and CorelDraw X7 to combine visual elements effectively. The validation results from experts indicated that this comic-based instructional media is suitable for use as a learning tool. The study's findings revealed that current school learning resources primarily consist of textbooks and worksheets, which are often presented less engagingly, leading to student boredom. Although PowerPoint presentations are used, their application is still limited, highlighting the need for more practical, innovative, and creative instructional media. The introduction of the comic-based history learning media received a positive response from students during trials, suggesting that such media could enhance engagement and make learning more enjoyable.
