Abstract

This study aimed to identify factors that may influence green purchasing behaviour mediated by green purchasing intention. It used quantitative research designs, distributing questionnaires, and evaluating a specific population or sample. Its collection used a random sampling method, and the data were analyzed quantitatively. In this study, the population consisted of respondents who were aware of customers who previously purchased environmentally friendly, customer-friendly goods in Batam. It targeted 400 respondents. This study found that most of the hypotheses studied had a significant beneficial effect,  except for a few that did not show a significant impact. In particular, attitudes towards green products, green purchasing behavior, perceived behavioral control, environmental concern, and green purchase intention had positive impacts. While the other two were not significantly related to each other. Attitudes towards green products, green purchase intention, and green purchase behaviour are associated with undesirable behaviours. Therefore, purchase intention does not mediate between attitude towards green products and green purchasing behaviour. Although environmental concern and product innovation may not always have the expected direct influence, the results generally imply that psychological and social factors play a significant role in shaping behaviour and intentions to purchase green products.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors influencing household intentions to use green energy in Batam City. The increasing electricity consumption and the impacts of global warming highlight the urgent need for more environmentally friendly energy utilization. This research examines the effects of biospheric value, altruistic value, egoistic value, and environmental self-identity on green attitude as well as intention to use green power. The study employs a quantitative approach using questionnaires distributed to households in Batam City. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling PLS-SEM. The results indicate that egoistic value, altruistic value, biospheric value, and environmental self-identity have significant effects (p-values < 0.05) on both green attitude and intention to use green power. Egoistic value exerts the strongest influence on green attitude, while altruistic value has the strongest influence on intention to use green power. Overall, all variables in this study demonstrate significant effects, indicating that the proposed research model is robust and empirically supported. This study is expected to contribute to the development of research on sustainable energy consumption behavior and serve as a reference for governments and energy providers in promoting the adoption of green energy among the public.

Abstract

Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) services have gained immense popularity, especially among younger generations such as Gen Z, due to their easy accessibility and flexible payment options. This study explores the impact of BNPL usage on impulse buying behavior, specifically in Batam, Indonesia. This study aims to examine the influence of BNPL usage on impulse buying of global brand products, focusing on understanding the psychological mechanisms, such as self-control, that mediate this relationship. A quantitative research design using SmartPLS 4 was adopted. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 230 respondents in Batam who actively use BNPL services. The study is relevant to Indonesia’s growing digital financial landscape. However, since the data were collected only from Batam City, the findings do not sufficiently represent BNPL users across Indonesia. The sample calculation used the theory of Hair et al. This study found that BNPL promotion, social influence, and perceived ease of use significantly influence self-control, influencing impulse buying behavior. Furthermore, self-control was identified as a mediator between BNPL services and impulse buying. This study provides insights for BNPL service providers to develop responsible marketing strategies and highlights the need for financial literacy programs to help consumers manage impulse buying behavior. This study was limited to respondents in Batam and focused primarily on a young population, which may not fully represent the broader BNPL consumer base. This study used only the application.

Abstract

This study investigates consumers’ purchase intention toward eco-friendly toys in Batam, Indonesia. In this context, product safety and environmental considerations intersect in parental decision-making yet remain underexplored in green marketing research. Drawing on the Stimulus–Organism–Response (SOR) framework, the study examines how key external stimuli shape internal evaluations and subsequent behavioral intentions. A quantitative cross-sectional survey was conducted with 499 parents who had purchased or considered purchasing toys for their children, and the data were analyzed using PLS-SEM. The findings reveal that consumer attitude plays a central mediating role, translating external cues into purchase intention, with health-related considerations emerging as the most influential driver of attitudes relative to other factors. This highlights the distinctiveness of eco-friendly toys as a product category in which perceived safety and health benefits outweigh purely environmental motives. The study contributes theoretically by extending the SOR framework into a child-related consumption context in an emerging market, demonstrating that attitudinal formation is primarily anchored in protective and trust-based evaluations. Empirically, the results underscore that, in Batam, purchase intention toward eco-friendly toys is driven more by health-oriented concerns than by environmental considerations alone, offering a more context-specific understanding of green consumer behaviour.

Abstract

In the rapidly evolving digital landscape of Indonesia, the psychological mechanisms driving live streaming commerce (LSC) remain conceptually fragmented. This study seeks to bridge this gap by investigating how streamer attractiveness, para-social interaction, and information quality collectively shape consumer behaviors within the Stimulus-Organism-Response (S-O-R) framework. This research utilizes a quantitative design, whereby 273 valid responses from Indonesian consumers were collected via purposive sampling. Data were rigorously analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with Smart-PLS 4.0 to validate both direct and mediating effects. The findings reveal that all environmental stimuli significantly drive emotional arousal, which functions as the absolute primary catalyst converting digital engagement into hedonic and impulsive consumption behaviors. Notably, arousal serves as a functional substitute for traditional trust in collectivist markets, representing a massive driver for shopping pleasure. This study advances the S-O-R framework by validating emotional arousal as the critical psychological bridge to spontaneous consumption. Managers should prioritize "relational commerce" by fostering "digital friend" personas to sustain affective resonance in high-velocity digital environments.
