Abstract

One of the factors causing the failure of exclusive breastfeeding is working mothers. Previous research has stated that working others are 2,3 times less likely to provide breast milk compared to non-working mothers. This study aimed to analyze the influence of education on expressed breast milk management using pocket books on knowledge and breastfeeding among working mothers in Palangkaraya City. This research was a quasi-experimental study using pretest-posttest control group structure. This study?s sample include breastfeeding women who work in the working area of Palangkaraya City Public Health Center, with 30 participants in each group. The sample was selected using consecutive sampling technique. Statistical tests were performed using the chi-square test. Observation of expressed breast milk feeding was carried out one month after the mothers returned to work. This study result found significant differences in knowledge and breastfeeding practices between the intervention and control groups (p-value<0,05). Most of the mothers who were given the pocket book had good knowledge, while most of the mothers who used the KIA book had sufficient knowledge. Mothers who were given the pocket book were also more likely to provide expressed breast milk to their babies compared to mothers who used the KIA book. Health workers can provide education about  expressed breast milk to working mothers using pocket books that are easy to carry, allowing mothers to read them anywhere and manage expressed breast milk at work to increase the achievement of exclusive breastfeeding.

Abstract

Abstract

Sexuality is considered a taboo topic by society, making it difficult to discuss openly. Parents typically provide minimal guidance, while teenagers frequently feel too embarrassed to ask questions. To overcome these barriers, a more engaging and accessible platform, such as a website dedicated to reproductive health, is necessary to help teenagers gain a better understanding of the topic. This study aims to analyze the influence of reproductive health education through website media on changes in adolescent knowledge and attitudes. This research is a quasi-experiment, a quantitative study. The research was conducted from March to November 2024. The respondents/subjects were 200 teenagers aged 15-18 years in Palangka Raya who owned a smartphone or laptop. The intervention group had an average knowledge score of 22.90, higher than the control group's score of 20.49. The Independent T-test showed a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05), indicating that education using the booklet was less effective in increasing knowledge compared to the website+booklet. Similarly, the intervention group's average attitude score was 127.67, higher than the control group's score of 122.08. The Independent T-test showed a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05), indicating that using only the booklet was less effective in improving attitudes compared to the combined website+booklet approach. Education on reproductive health delivered through a website and booklet is more effective at enhancing knowledge and attitude scores in adolescents than education provided solely through a booklet. Ensure that the digital platform is accessible to all adolescents, including those in remote areas.

Abstract

Anxiety among third-trimester primigravida is a significant public health issue that increases the risk of delivery complications, as well as maternal and infant morbidity and mortality. This study aimed to determine anxiety levels among primigravida based on age, education, occupation, income, and family support in the working area of the Menteng Primary Health Center (PHC) in Palangka Raya City. This quantitative study, with a descriptive cross-sectional design, involved 55 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Primary data were collected using the Perinatal Anxiety Screening Scale (PASS) questionnaire and a Likert-scale questionnaire for the family support variable, which were subsequently analyzed using univariate frequency distributions and percentages. The results showed that the majority of respondents experienced moderate anxiety (63.64%) and severe anxiety (18.18%). Moderate anxiety was predominantly experienced by the ideal reproductive age group of 20–35 years (62.50%), those with secondary education (63.89%), and the unemployed (housewives) (59.38%). Specifically regarding socio-economic indicators, moderate anxiety remained dominant among those with a husband’s income below the Regional Minimum Wage (RMW) (64.10%). Notably, the group receiving good family support (73.80%) contributed the highest rate of moderate anxiety. These empirical facts demonstrate that age maturity, financial stability, and family support do not automatically eliminate maternal anxiety approaching the first childbirth. Therefore, it is recommended that the PHC integrate psychological screening instruments into routine Antenatal Care (ANC) service standards to reduce the risk of complications at an early stage.
