Abstract

This research explores the impact of gadget use on elementary school children's emotional and social development through a comprehensive literature review. This study covers Scopus-indexed literature from 2019 to 2023, It focuses on how children's usage of gadgets affects their cognitive, linguistic, physical, and social-emotional development. The findings of the study demonstrate that attention span issues can result from excessive gadget use, sleep problems, and decreased physical activity, hindering children's emotional and social development. Children who frequently use gadgets tend to have lower social skills and are less sensitive to the environment around them. Although technology improves language skills and access to educational information, its negative impacts cannot be ignored. Therefore, parents and educators must monitor and limit children's screen time. This study recommends screen time limits based on the child's age: For kids ages 0 to 2, there should be no screen time; for kids ages 3 to 8, there should be less than 60 minutes per day; and for kids ages 6 to 8, there should be no more than 60 minutes per day. Technology use can be maximized without jeopardizing critical areas of a child's development when it is supervised properly.

Abstract

This study explores the role of literacy and emotional intelligence as essential competencies in informal learning for Industry 5.0, emphasizing the need for adaptive skills to navigate technological advancements balanced with human values. Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach, the research analyzed publications from 2021 to 2024 in the Scopus database, focusing on studies that address literacy, emotional intelligence, informal learning, and critical competencies for Industry 5.0. Findings reveal that social-emotional skills, digital literacy, and future literacy are foundational for preparing individuals to thrive in complex work and social environments. Evidence suggests that early development of social-emotional learning (SEL) enhances cognitive and interpersonal skills, fostering resilience and adaptability. Informal learning through social activities, sports, and future-oriented reflections strengthens competencies in self-regulation, empathy, and critical thinking, which are essential in rapidly changing contexts. The study recommends integrating SEL into both formal and informal curricula, promoting digital and emotional literacy training, embedding future literacy, and enhancing community-based activities. These strategies can better equip individuals for the collaborative and adaptive demands of Industry 5.0, bridging the gap between technical expertise and human-centred skills.

Abstract

Abstract: This study examines the transformation of traditional customary institutions from conflict mediators into development agents that support village independence through community-based tourism. The focus is on the Majelis Krama Desa (MKD) in West Nusa Tenggara, which has evolved from a reactive dispute resolution body to a proactive institution in community-based development. The research method employed a literature review with a thematic approach, analyzing scientific publications, policy documents, and official reports published between 2015 and 2025. The findings reveal that the transformation of MKD from a conflict resolution institution into a driver of village self-reliance through tourism significantly contributes to the achievement of SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions). The main challenges include cultural erosion, authority conflicts, and limited institutional capacity. This study recommends strengthening MKD through systematic capacity-building programs and integrating its roles into the Rencana Pembangunan Jangka Menengah Desa (Village Medium-Term Development Plan).

Abstract

Educational inequality remains a persistent challenge in many developing countries, particularly among marginalized communities with limited access to formal schooling. Nonformal education, often implemented through community-based and lifelong learning programs, offers flexible and inclusive learning opportunities for individuals excluded from formal education systems. This study aims to analyze the role of nonformal education as a strategic mechanism for reducing educational disparities and promoting social inclusion. Using a qualitative literature review approach, this study synthesizes findings from previous research, policy documents, and reports related to nonformal education initiatives. The analysis indicates that nonformal education contributes significantly to expanding educational access, improving life skills, and enhancing community empowerment, especially among disadvantaged populations. However, challenges remain in program sustainability, policy integration, and quality assurance. Strengthening collaboration among governments, communities, and educational institutions is essential to maximize the impact of nonformal education programs. The study highlights the importance of positioning nonformal education as a complementary pathway within national education systems to achieve equitable and inclusive lifelong learning.

Abstract

Low conceptual understanding of multiplication and division in mathematics is one of the problems found among third-grade students at SDN Aik Berik, particularly in understanding multiplication as repeated addition and division as the process of dividing into equal groups. This condition is reinforced by a learning process that is still dominated by the lecture method, resulting in less active students and less meaningful learning. This study aims to determine the improvement in students’ conceptual understanding of multiplication and division through the implementation of the Math Market game among third-grade students at SDN Aik Berik, North Batukliang. This study used Classroom Action Research (CAR), which was conducted in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of the stages of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects consisted of 39 third-grade students. Data were collected through tests, observation, and documentation using instruments in the form of teacher activity observation sheets, student activity observation sheets, and learning achievement tests. The data were analyzed quantitatively to determine individual and classical mastery, and qualitatively to determine student activity and the implementation of the Math Market game. The results show that the implementation of the Math Market game can improve students’ conceptual understanding of multiplication and division. In Cycle I, the students’ average score reached 67.17 with classical mastery of 56.41%, then increased in Cycle II to 87.17 with classical mastery of 90%. Teacher activity increased from 72.22% to 80%, while student activity increased from 57.33% to 77.33%. These findings indicate that the Math Market game is effective for improving students’ conceptual understanding of multiplication and division. This study contributes to the development of contextual educational game-based mathematics learning strategies and provides practical implications for elementary school teachers in creating mathematics learning that is more active, engaging, and meaningful.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low speaking skills of second-grade students at SDN 32 Cakranegara, as indicated by students’ lack of confidence, difficulty in expressing ideas coherently, and the limited use of innovative teaching methods and learning media. The focus of this study is how the implementation of storytelling methods assisted by picture media can improve students’ speaking skills. This study aims to enhance students' speaking abilities through more engaging and interactive learning methods. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) using the Kemmis and McTaggart model, which consists of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages, conducted in two cycles. The subjects of this study were 28 second-grade students of SDN 32 Cakranegara. Data were collected through observation, tests, and documentation. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ speaking skills in each cycle. In the first cycle, students achieved a moderate level with a percentage of 67%, which increased to 89% in the second cycle, categorized as good. In addition, students’ participation and confidence in speaking activities also improved. Therefore, it can be concluded that the storytelling method assisted by picture media is effective in improving elementary school students’ speaking skills.
