Abstract

Adolescence is the age of growth, when many body parts and organs develop rapidly and determine their health as adults. Adolescent girls need around 2,200 to 2,500 calories per day, while adolescent boys need around 2,400 to 3,000 calories per day. The purpose of this study was to see the picture of food security of students at the As'ad Islamic Boarding School in Jambi City. This study is a quantitative study with a descriptive analytical design. The population of this study was all students of the As'ad Islamic Boarding School with a level of Madrasah Tsanawiyah Education totaling 375 female students using the proportional Random Sampling technique, the number of samples was 29 students. The results of the study showed data of 13 (44.8%) female adolescents who routinely had breakfast, and those who rarely had breakfast were 14 (48.3) and never had breakfast 1 (3.4%), 28 (96.6%) female adolescents who chose good types of breakfast and 1 less good, 22 (75.9%) female adolescents who ate snacks and 7 (24.1%) did not eat snacks, and all female adolescents consumed main meals according to those provided by the dormitory kitchen manager.

Abstract

Nutritional status is a determinant of everything related to development resources such as poor nutrition for children, especially children, so that it can reduce the potential of community development resources. Human resources are the Human Development Index (HDI) which has three main factors that are most important, namely, education, health and economy. These three factors are closely related to the nutritional status of the community. The prevalence of obesity in Jambi Province according to Riskesdas 2018 is 19.83%. The population in this study were 148 female adolescents at the Sa'ad Islamic Boarding School in Jambi City., with a sample size of 67 female studentsThe sample was selected using the Simple Random Sampling technique.This test is used to determine the relationship between the independent and dependent variables with a 95% significance level. If the p-value is ≤ 0.05, it indicates a significant relationship. This research was conducted from September 2024 to July 2025, the location of this research was the Sa'ad Islamic Boarding School, Jambi City.The results of the initial survey in August 2024 at the Sa'ad Islamic Boarding School through direct interviews with 10 young women, 7 of whom had symptoms of anemia such as lack of concentration while studying, fatigue, shortness of breath and a pale face. Knowing the Description of Eating Patterns with the Incident of Young Women at the Sa'ad Islamic Boarding School in Jambi City. The results showed that 45 respondents (52.2%) experienced malnutrition, while 32 respondents (47%) had good nutritional status. This indicates that there is a problem of malnutrition among young women at the AS'AD Islamic Boarding School in Jambi City. The description of eating patterns shows that respondents have a good diet, namely 7 female students (9%), while 71 (98%) respondents have a poor diet. The results of statistical tests using the Chi-square test showed a significant relationship between eating patterns and nutritional status in adolescents (p-value <0.05). This means that the worse a teenager's diet, the greater the likelihood of experiencing malnutrition. There is a problem of malnutrition among adolescent girls at the AS'AD Islamic Boarding School in Jambi City. The eating patterns of these adolescent girls are considered good.

Abstract

Lack of iron intake can cause anemia in adolescents. Adolescent girls are at higher risk of developing anemia due to their physical growth, reproductive maturation, and cognitive transformation, which require high iron requirements. Some adolescent girls reported experiencing menstrual pain, one had not yet menstruated, and another looked pale. This condition is feared to impact the health of adolescent girls, especially their reproductive system, in the future. If an adolescent suffers from anemia, she will usually experience dysmenorrhea during menstruation. The purpose of this activity is to increase adolescent girls' knowledge of the importance of consuming healthy foods to prevent dysmenorrhea and anemia. The lack of adequate nutrition for the body during a period of rapid growth and development, along with the impacts that will occur on adolescent girls, is one of the reasons for the author to take preventive measures in the form of Health Education with the theme Healthy food to prevent dysmenorrhea and anemia in adolescent girls at the As'ad Islamic Boarding School in Jambi City. The activity was carried out face-to-face with participants, aiming to increase adolescent girls' knowledge about the importance of healthy and appropriate foods for adolescent girls to prevent dysmenorrhea and anemia. The results showed an increase in the knowledge of young women with an increase in the average score of 37.5 from the average pre-test score of 32.4 to an average post-test score of 70. The activity was carried out for 6 months from March to August 2024 at the As'ad Islamic Boarding School in Jambi City.

Abstract

Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) is collection of physical, psychological, and behavioral symptoms that occur before menstruation and can disrupt daily activities, especially in adolescent girls. Poor diet and low physical activity are two lifestyle factors that can trigger or worsen PMS symptoms. This study aims to determine the relationship between diet and physical activity with the incidence of PMS 10th grade female adolescents at SMK Fania Salsabila, Jambi City. The method used is quantitative study with crosssectional approach. Total 60 respondents were selected using proportional random sampling techniques from total population 120 female students. The study was conducted in May 2025. Data were collected using Semi Quantitative Food Frequency Questionnaire (SQ-FFQ), Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ), and Shortened Premenstrual Assessment Form (SPAF). Data analysis was carried out univariately and bivariately using the Chi-Square test. The results of the study showed that the majority of respondents had poor eating patterns, namely 45 respondents (75.0%), low physical activity levels were 38 respondents (63.3%), and severe PMS symptoms were 29 respondents (48.3%). There was a significant relationship between eating patterns and the incidence of PMS (p < 0.05), as well as between physical activity and the incidence of PMS (p < 0.05). It can be concluded that adolescents with unhealthy eating patterns and low physical activity have higher risk of experiencing PMS with moderate to severe symptoms. This study recommends health education and school-based interventions regarding the importance of healthy lifestyle to prevent or reduce the impact of PMS on adolescents.

Abstract

Nutrition determines the physical condition of adolescents as well as the ability to concentration while learning and determining health as adults. The main meal is only available for lunch and dinner, while breakfast is usually filled with buying food in school environments of different types. There is no control of the cottage whether santri ate breakfast and the type of food consumed. This condition is feared to impact santri health because it is not met nutritionally as needed by the body. Participants of this activity are santri at Pondok Pesantren Asad Kota jambi, totaling 36 santri. Activities aim to increase santri knowledge of the importance of balanced nutrition for the growth and development process especially in the reproductive organs. The output is to increase the knowledge of santri in choosing balanced nutrition so that there are no health problems in the reproductive system in the future. The implementation method is carried out with lectures, discussions and evaluations of activities in the form of pre-post test related to the material provided. Activities are conducted 6 months while the implementation of Health Education is carried out on 22 November 2023 at Pondok Pesantren As’ad City Jambi. The result of the activity is the increase in knowledge of the santri on reproductive health nutrition by looking at the pre and post test results of 60% that can answer correctly when pre test increases to 100% during post test. It is expected that the management of pesantren makes new tenacies related to the fulfillment of healthy breakfast for the santri and maintain even improve the menu for lunch and dinner to fulfill the nutrition of reproductive health of the santri as a teenager who is in the phase of growth and development.
