Abstract

This study aims to figure the implementation of anti-discrimination Christian Religious Education (CRE) at school and various things that can significantly shape students' anti-discrimination attitudes. By using descriptive qualitative methods, namely by adopting the research procedures of Miles and Habermas and support of other literature, the researchers found that CRE at schools has a strategic place in teaching anti-discrimination attitudes toward students. In this regard, the contextual and biblical CRE curriculum design and learning model presented in the class can lead students to have attitudes that do not discriminate against one another. Teaching anti-discrimination attitudes through CRE can be done simultaneously. CRE teachers lay the foundation or instill Christian values that differences are the reality and how students can accept and appreciate differences. Those are strengthened by the application of the CRE curriculum that contains the topic of anti-discrimination and synergized learning models in which students can interact, communicate and relate in different realities.

Abstract

Hate speech and invitations to be hostile to adherents of other religions and beliefs are becoming a strengthening phenomenon today. Intolerance and radicalism that lead to violence and social conflict are increasingly arbitrary. This hostility occurs in the world of education, teachers and students are exposed to ideas that are contrary to the values of Pancasila and religious norms. Religious moderation as an effort to deradicalize through religious education, especially Christian religious education, is gaining momentum to instill peace-loving values in students. To achieve this, Christian religious education exists and participates in and through it. Various sources of literature or literature study to explore the data, with qualitative-descriptive research were conducted to find a picture of the philoeirene model in Christian religious education and to actualize the education of peace-loving attitudes in students. This study found that a comprehensive, basic, or deep and deeply rooted understanding of the concepts of peace and philoeirene is not an option but is imperative in nature to be instilled in every student. Strengthening contextual or relevant curriculum and commitment to implementing a peace-loving attitude is praxis in Christian religious education in a pluralistic society.

Abstract

The authors observed that pastoral leaders are inseparable or free from conflict, thus requiring conflict management to manage conflicts in the church. Pastoral leaders play a vital role in resolving conflicts in the church. This study analyzes the TKI conflict management model (Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument) commonly used by corporations as a relevant model for pastoral leaders. This model provides five instruments of conflict resolution styles: competition, collaboration, compromise, adjustment, and avoidance. Using a literature study, the study found that pastoral leaders can apply the TKI management model (Thomas-Kilman Conflict Mode Instrument) by adjusting to the needs and situations of conflict. Pastoral leaders must also pay attention to the local church's government or organizational structure to choose from the five conflict resolution styles of the TKI conflict management model (Thomas-Kilman Conflict Mode Instrument).

Abstract

The State Christian Institute of Ambon is a Christian religious higher education institution with lecturers, employees, and students of various faiths. Religious differences are often a point of conflict, but there has never been a conflict within the Institut Agama Kristen Negeri Ambon (IAKN Ambon) environment, despite different religious beliefs. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to know the portrait of religious diversity, the understanding of students, staff, and lecturers about religious harmony, the values of religious harmony, and the efforts made to build religious harmony at IAKN Ambon. This research uses a qualitative method for data collection, such as in interviews, participant observation, and document reviews, which would then be analyzed using qualitative descriptive techniques. This study's informants included Christian, Muslim, and Catholic lecturers, staff, and students. According to the results, there were three religious communities in IAKN Ambon: Islam, Christianity, and Catholicism. Relations among religious communities are excellent. This harmony can be seen in mutual respect, freedom of worship, and cooperation. This harmony has been built through several efforts, such as 1) providing understanding and awareness of the importance of harmony; 2) providing freedom of worship; 3) providing worship facilities; and 4) creating a common space.
