Abstract

The development of social media opens up new opportunities in language learning, including Indonesian for Foreign Speakers (BIPA). Instagram and TikTok have the potential to become complementary learning media that are multimodal, flexible, and interactive. This study aims to analyze the use of the two platforms in supporting the development of listening, reading, speaking, and writing skills of BIPA learners. The research uses a qualitative approach with literature study methods and content analysis techniques. The data in the form of 15 scientific articles were selected objectively based on the criteria of relevance to technology-based language learning and BIPA, published in the 2021–2025 range, and came from SINTA, Scopus, and other trusted academic journals. Data was collected through Google Scholar, Scopus, and SINTA searches. The analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, categorization, synthesis, and drawing conclusions to identify patterns of social media use in BIPA learning. The results show that Instagram is effectively used to present Indonesian vocabulary, grammar, and culture through structured visual content, while TikTok supports the development of productive skills through content creation, short videos, and digital collaboration. Both platforms have been shown to increase learning motivation, learner engagement, and exposure to the use of authentic language. However, its use requires systematic pedagogical planning to be in harmony with learning achievements. This study concludes that Instagram and TikTok have great potential as complementary media for BIPA learning when combined with the right pedagogical strategy.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has increased the use of social media as a means of communication and motivation, including in sports activities. Instagram, as a visual platform, is widely used to build identity and encourage interaction between users. This study aims to analyze the use of Instagram and the level of desire to exercise, as well as to test the relationship between the two in the IPB Running Community, a student running community that actively uses Instagram for documentation and member motivation. The study used a quantitative approach with a correlational descriptive method. Data were obtained through an online questionnaire administered to 89 respondents selected using the Slovin formula. The results showed that Instagram usage was in the good category in terms of information, identity, personal motivation, social integration, and entertainment. The members' desire to exercise was also in the high category. Spearman's correlation test showed a significant relationship between Instagram usage and the desire to exercise in this community. This study contributes theoretically to the study of digital communication and has practical implications for sports communities in optimizing social media to increase member motivation and participation in a healthy lifestyle.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the communication patterns employed in the implementation of the PSI Jakarta Internship Program Batch 17, with a focus on communication effectiveness in supporting the program’s objectives. The research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach within a constructivist paradigm, which views reality as a continuously evolving human construct. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. The research subjects comprised PSI Jakarta administrators and members directly involved in the internship program. The findings reveal three communication patterns utilized in the program’s execution: formal communication, informal communication, and socialization mechanisms. Formal communication was conducted through annual and weekly work meetings, while informal communication occurred more frequently via WhatsApp and in-person office meetings. For program socialization, information was disseminated through social media platforms such as Instagram, LinkedIn, and WhatsApp Blast. The study also found that communication barriers primarily occurred among persons in charge (PICs) in terms of cross-departmental coordination. Nevertheless, communication between upper management and PICs proceeded smoothly. These findings highlight the importance of effective communication patterns in ensuring the success of political internship programs that involve multiple stakeholders with diverse roles.

Abstract

Regional legislative institutions face a significant communication paradox: they are required to implement digital public information transparency while consistently ranking among the least trusted public institutions, with a public trust rate of only 56.2 percent according to a 2023 CSIS survey. This study aims to analyze the roles and functions of the Public Relations Division of the Secretariat of the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) of Bogor Regency in managing public communication, as well as the digital communication strategies employed to disseminate legislative activities and information. A descriptive qualitative approach was adopted, with data collected through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews with two key informants, active participation, and a literature review. The findings indicate that the public relations function has been operationally implemented through the management of two active Instagram accounts and an official website. However, these activities are not yet supported by formally documented communication strategies. Digital content management faces interconnected systemic challenges, including limited production infrastructure, the absence of a standardized content management system, and the need to continuously adapt to the rapidly evolving digital environment. The findings also reveal an engagement paradox: more diverse and audience-oriented content generates significantly higher levels of interaction and comments than formal documentation content, indicating that the public is more responsive to relevant and engaging communication approaches. Transparency, therefore, is not merely a matter of regulatory compliance but also a matter of institutional capacity that requires comprehensive systemic intervention
