Abstract

This community service activity aims to: increase the knowledge and skills of Dasawisma mothers in Keranjang hamlet in making Liquid Organic Fertilizer (POC) which is used to increase soil fertility in vegetable farming and increase family income after they can produce their own organic fertilizer and sell it as a side business. Keranjang Hamlet in Wayame Village is the location of this community service activity. Counseling and training for participants (mothers in Keranjang Hamlet), as well as application in the field are activity techniques used to achieve the expected results. Based on the results of the activity, there was an increase in knowledge about making POC by Dasawisma mothers because they produced POC products. The results of POC treatment to the soil using kale plants showed that the higher the POC dose, the higher the wet weight and height of the kale plants.

Abstract

The research examined the effect of ela sago compost on the soil chemical properties, growth, P-uptake, and yields of corn plants (Zea mays L) in Regosol soils. A randomized block design with a 2 x 4 factorial treatment was applied. The first factor was ela sago compost (B) with three dose levels: B0 = 0-Mg ha-1, B1 = 10-Mg ha-1, and B2 = 20-Mg ha-1. The second factor was SP-36 (P) fertilizer with four dose levels: P0 = 0 kg P ha-1, P1 = 60 kg P ha-1, P2 = 120 kg P ha-1, and P3 = 180 kg P ha-1. This research shows that either ela sago compost or SP-36 fertilizer can increase the soil reaction (pH). Applying sago palm compost and SP-36 fertilizer increases soil available P from 17.33 to 60.67 ppm. Applying sago palm compost and SP-36 fertilizer increases plant P-uptake from 0.18 to 0.40 %, plant height from 135.60 to 189.67 cm, and stem diameter from 1.86 to 3.44 cm, and corn yield (dry weight of 1000 seeds) from 266.60 to 390.57 g.

Abstract

Batu Merah Village in Sirimau District, Ambon City, is a geographically landslide-prone area. The recurring landslide events in this region highlight the urgency of improving community resilience to disaster risks. This study focuses on analyzing the level of landslide hazard and the community's resilience in facing such disasters. A quantitative approach was employed, utilizing surveys, field observations, interviews, and spatial analysis through Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Key research steps included identifying hazard parameters (slope gradient, soil type, rainfall intensity, land use, and geology), scoring and weighting, and measuring resilience through indicators such as knowledge, adaptation capacity, and risk perception. The results show that 90.40% of Batu Merah's area falls under moderate landslide hazard, and 7.70% is classified as high hazard. Community resilience was found to be at a moderate level, with key weaknesses in preparedness, economic capacity, and supporting infrastructure. The study concludes that there is a pressing need to strengthen community resilience through disaster education, early warning systems, and infrastructure improvements designed for disaster mitigation. Abstract

This study aims to identify and describe soil morphological traits in the granite toposequence and analyze these traits to assess the similarity index between soil profiles. This study used a survey method involving transect observations and complete profile observations. Variable soil observations were made in a downward direction, following each change in slope segment on the granite toposequence. The results showed that Cambisol (Dystrudepts) soils developed with physical and chemical properties on three profiles for soil color ranging from yellowish brown to brownish yellow and yellowish red to red. The soil texture ranges from loamy sand to dusty clay, and the soil structure is rounded cubical. The soil has an acidic to slightly acidic pH and a slightly sticky consistency when moist and very low to low C-organic content. The similarity index assessed in the three profiles includes parameters such as dust/clay ratio, pH H₂O, and C-organic, which are very similar due to the similarity of the constituent rock formations.

Abstract

The availability of animal feed is one of the main problems faced in livestock development efforts. This research was carried out from August to September 2018, with the aim of identifying and knowing the potentials of forages and food crop agricultural wastes as ruminant animal feed, as well as determining the regional capacity for ruminant livestock in Western Ceram Regency. The research method used was a survey method through direct observation and measurement in the field. Determination of sampling locations was carried out using purposive sampling involving three sample sub-districts, namely in Kairatu, West Kairatu and West Ceram sub-districts. Measurement variables included forage types, botanical composition and pasture holding capacity, as well as agricultural waste holding capacity. The results of the research showed that the dominant grass species in the pastures were carpet grass (Axonopus compresus) 23.39%, sedge (Cyperus rotundus) 7.34%, and the least were 'cunchurs' and 'rozi' grasses 1.27%. The pasture botanical composition was a mixture of legumes, grasses and weeds, with a ratio of grass 83.77%: legumes 7.8%: weeds 8.43%. The average carrying capacities of ruminant livestock units (LU) on pastures in the three sample sub-districts were: Kairatu 2.18 ha/LU/year (0.46 LU/ha/year), West Kairatu 2.18 LU/ha/year (0.46 LU/ha/year) and West Seram 2.67 ha/LU/year (0.37 LU/ha/year) and the average capacity in Wester Ceram Regency was 7.03 ha/LU/year (0 .14 LU/ha/year). Types of potential agricultural waste in West Ceram Regency were rice straw 7.97 tons/year, corn straw (zea mays) 487.20 tons/yea, cassava waste 129.40 tons/year and sweet potato waste 47 tons/year. In general, the holding capacity of pasture in Western Ceram Regency was lower compared to the natural grass holding capacity for the Maluku area of 4 LU/ha/year.
