Abstract

Hypertension is a public health problem that requires continuous management through the involvement of patients, families, health cadres, and healthcare professionals. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of the Community-Based Health Management Model in improving knowledge, hypertension control behaviors, medication adherence, and blood pressure control among hypertensive patients in the working area of Tanasitolo Public Health Center. This quantitative study employed a pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design. A total of 40 hypertensive patients were selected using purposive sampling. The eight-week intervention included patient identification, four community-based education sessions, blood pressure monitoring, and hypertension management assistance. Data were collected using questionnaires assessing knowledge, hypertension control behaviors, and medication adherence, while blood pressure was measured using a digital device. The approach positioned the community as an active partner in monitoring risk factors, adopting a healthy diet, performing physical activity, managing stress, and maintaining regular therapy. The results showed that mean knowledge scores increased from 61.25 to 82.75, hypertension control behavior scores from 58.40 to 77.65, and medication adherence scores from 60.15 to 79.80. Mean systolic blood pressure decreased from 158.45 mmHg to 143.20 mmHg, while diastolic blood pressure decreased from 94.75 mmHg to 87.30 mmHg. All variables showed statistically significant differences (p<0.001). The Community-Based Health Management Model effectively improved hypertension self-management and supported blood pressure control. This model may be developed as a community-based hypertension management approach in primary healthcare by continuously involving health cadres and families.

Abstract

Early childhood development stimulation has a significant impact on their cognitive, motor, and social growth. The knowledge and practices of mothers in providing developmental stimulation are crucial, especially in communities facing social and economic challenges, such as fishing communities. This study aims to explore the knowledge, practices, challenges, and sources of information related to child development stimulation among mothers in Bone Regency. This study uses a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews. A total of 15 mothers with children aged 0-24 months were selected using purposive sampling. The collected data were analyzed using the Colaizzi method to identify key themes. The majority of mothers have basic knowledge about motor and language stimulation, but they lack understanding of social and cognitive stimulation. The stimulation practices they carry out focus on gross motor stimulation and language through daily conversations. The main challenges faced are limited time due to work as fishermen and economic constraints that affect access to information. The primary sources of information come from personal experience, family, and close friends, with few accessing health services or mass media. The results of the study emphasize the importance of enhancing maternal health education on social and cognitive child stimulation. Additionally, better access to information through effective channels is needed, especially for mothers in areas with time and economic constraints. Community-based education and outreach can improve mothers' understanding and practices in child development stimulation.

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the most common diseases suffered by the elderly. Hypertension is also referred to as “the silent disease” because there are no signs or symptoms that can be seen from the outside. The development of hypertension runs slowly, but is potentially very dangerous. In the initial survey conducted by the researcher, it was obtained data on the number of elderly people who experienced the most hypertension in Nepo Village. The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between age and blood pressure of elderly hypertension. The method used in this study uses a descriptive method with a quantitative approach. The population in this study were 38 elderly people. The sampling technique used Accidental sampling with a total sample of 27 people according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Measurement of blood pressure using a Sphygmomanomater or Tensimeter (blood pressure measuring device), the use of an observation sheet to record the results of measuring the blood pressure of the elderly and informed consent as a statement of the elderly's willingness to become respondents which contains general elderly data such as identity. The results of statistical tests using the chi-square test obtained a correlation of age with systolic blood pressure p 0.046 <α 0.05 and a correlation of age with diastolic blood pressure p 0.044 <α 0.05, so it can be concluded that there is a correlation between age and blood pressure in elderly hypertension.

Abstract

Social interaction skills are an essential aspect of preschool children's development, as they support children's ability to adapt, communicate, and cooperate with their surroundings. One factor presumed to influence these skills is parenting style. This study aimed to examine the relationship between parenting style and the social interaction skills of preschool children at TK PGRI 1 Keera. This quantitative study employed a descriptive correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of 58 preschool children, with a sample of 37 respondents selected using probability sampling through proportionate stratified random sampling. Data were collected using a parenting style questionnaire and a children's social interaction skills questionnaire. The relationship between variables was analyzed using Fisher’s Exact Test with a significance level of 0.05. Most parents applied a democratic parenting style (31 respondents; 83.8%). The majority of children demonstrated a moderate level of social interaction skills (30 respondents; 81.1%). Statistical analysis yielded a p-value of 0.117 (p > 0.05), indicating no significant relationship between parenting style and preschool children's social interaction skills. Parenting style was not significantly associated with the social interaction skills of preschool children at TK PGRI 1 Keera. These findings suggest that children's social interaction skills may be influenced by other factors, such as the school environment, peer interactions, and children's daily social experiences.

Abstract

Nursing supervision is one of the essential managerial functions that plays a crucial role in enhancing nurses' work motivation and job satisfaction, thereby contributing to the quality of nursing care. This study aimed to analyse the relationship between nursing supervision and nurses' work motivation and job satisfaction in the Inpatient Department of Lamaddukelleng Regional General Hospital, Wajo Regency. This research employed a quantitative approach using a cross-sectional study design. The study population consisted of all staff nurses working in the inpatient wards, with a total sample of 83 respondents selected using the total sampling technique. Data were collected using a structured Likert-scale questionnaire and analysed through univariate and bivariate analyses using the Chi-square test with a 95% confidence level. The univariate analysis showed that most respondents perceived nursing supervision as being at a high level (90.4%). However, the majority of nurses demonstrated low work motivation (53.0%), while all respondents reported high job satisfaction (100%). The bivariate analysis revealed a significant relationship between nursing supervision and nurses' work motivation (p = 0.002), as well as between nursing supervision and nurses' job satisfaction (p = 0.006). These findings indicate that effective nursing supervision contributes to improving nurses' work motivation and job satisfaction. Therefore, hospital management is encouraged to strengthen the implementation of clinical supervision through continuous coaching, mentoring, and structured evaluation to enhance nurses' motivation, job satisfaction, and the quality of nursing services, particularly among contract nurses.

Abstract

Hypertension is a non-communicable disease that poses a public health problem due to its contribution to high morbidity and mortality rates. In Indonesia, the prevalence of hypertension continues to rise, necessitating early detection efforts and effective management through programs such as Posbindu PTM. The performance of Posbindu PTM officers is considered an important factor that can influence the adherence of hypertension patients to routine check-ups. This study aims to determine the relationship between the performance of Posbindu PTM officers and the adherence to hypertension control among patients in Woronge Village. This research uses a cross-sectional approach with a purposive sample of 10 respondents. Data was collected through questionnaires and analyzed using Fisher's Exact Test. The results showed that 60% of the officers performed well, and 60% of the hypertension patients adhered to control. Bivariate analysis found a significant relationship between officer performance and control adherence, with a p-value of 0.048 (p < 0.05). Therefore, the performance of Posbindu PTM officers has a significant impact on the adherence of hypertension patients to health control. This highlights the importance of officers' roles in providing education and motivation to hypertension patients to ensure they follow health control routines. To achieve this, there is a need to improve the quality of officers' performance through training and strengthening monitoring systems at Posbindu PTM. Additionally, it is also important to engage the community more actively in this program, so they become more aware of the importance of sustainable hypertension management. Intensive training for officers and improvement of Posbindu PTM facilities can further support the success of this program.

Abstract

Hypertension is a major health issue contributing to cardiovascular complications in Indonesia, especially among the elderly. This study aims to evaluate health policies for hypertension prevention in the work area of Puskesmas Liu, specifically within the communities around Lake Tempe. The main focus of this research is to assess community understanding, the active role of Puskesmas, and the challenges faced in the implementation of hypertension prevention policies. The research method used is a qualitative phenomenological study with data analysis based on the Colaizzi approach. In-depth interviews were conducted with seven informants who are hypertension sufferers from the area during May-June 2025. The collected data were analyzed to identify key themes related to hypertension prevention policies. The results of the study show that the community’s understanding of hypertension and low-salt diets is still limited, with many people considering hypertension as an inherited condition. Puskesmas has conducted health education through Posbindu, but still faces challenges related to limited resources and educational media. The habit of consuming high-salt foods, particularly salted fish, poses a significant barrier to adopting a healthy diet. Family support also plays a crucial role in adherence to a healthy diet. This study emphasizes the importance of improving health education and involving families in hypertension prevention, as well as the need for more inclusive and community-based policies to effectively support hypertension prevention efforts.
