Abstract

Background: Background: In 2024, Central Sulawesi recorded 74 breast tumor cases, with Palu having the highest screening coverage and North Morowali the lowest. At the Health Training Center, only one of eight staff showed proper BSE knowledge and technique, indicating poor practice. These findings underscore the need for effective education to strengthen early breast cancer detection behaviors. Method: A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design was applied in August 2025. The study involved all 41 registered women of reproductive age (WRA) at the Health Training Center, selected through total sampling. Data analysis included univariate analysis for descriptive characteristics, paired sample t-test to assess pre–post intervention changes, and One Way ANOVA to identify differences between groups after receiving interactive educational sessions. Results: Findings from the paired sample t-test revealed significant improvements in knowledge, attitudes, and practices following the intervention (p < 0.05). ANOVA further showed significant differences across groups for all variables, with behavioral changes demonstrating the highest F-value. Interactive education involving demonstrations and hands-on practice effectively enhanced cognitive understanding, shaped positive attitudes, and strengthened participants’ ability to perform BSE consistently. Conclusion: Interactive BSE education significantly improved knowledge, attitudes, and practices among women of reproductive age, with direct practice serving as a vital component in sustaining behavior change. Recomendation: Routine interactive BSE training is advised to sustain skills and confidence, supported by efforts targeting women with low self-efficacy and strengthened collaboration with health cadres and facilities. Further research is needed to identify factors influencing long-term adherence.

Abstract

Central Sulawesi lies within a seismically active region, particularly along subduction zones and fault lines that extend across both marine and terrestrial domains. This area has experienced several major earthquakes, resulting in substantial physical destruction, human casualties, and profound socio-economic repercussions. Consequently, targeted educational initiatives are essential to enhance community resilience and preparedness. Among various approaches, simulation-based training stands out as an effective strategy, offering participants hands-on experience in managing emergency scenarios. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of simulation-based education on earthquake disaster preparedness among adolescents.Employing a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group approach, the research involved 45 participants in the intervention group and 45 in the control group. Data analysis utilized the Wilcoxon signed-rank test for within-group comparisons and the Mann-Whitney U test for between-group differences, with statistical significance set at p < 0.05. The Mann-Whitney U test on pre-intervention data yielded a p-value of 0.267 (p > 0.05), indicating no significant difference in baseline earthquake preparedness between the groups. In contrast, post-intervention analysis revealed a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), demonstrating a statistically significant divergence in preparedness levels between the intervention and control groups. These findings suggest that simulation-based education positively influences earthquake preparedness among adolescents at SMP Negeri 7 Palu. It is anticipated that such interventions will bolster students' knowledge, attitudes, and practical behaviors toward earthquake mitigation, thereby improving their capacity for self-rescue during seismic events.

Abstract

Introduction: Around 68% of adolescents experience internet addiction linked to stress, anxiety, and depression. Initial observations of five students in Palu also showed that high internet use triggered symptoms such as anxiety and sleep disturbances. Objective: To analyze the influence of internet use on stress among female adolescents at SHS 7 Palu. Methods: This cross-sectional study involved all 275 female students selected through total sampling, with data analyzed using multiple linear regression. Results and Discussion: All variables significantly affected stress: internet use duration (t = 2.369; Sig = 0.019), social media use (t = 5.003; Sig = 0.000), cyberbullying (t = 4.060; Sig = 0.000), and online gaming (t = 4.978; Sig = 0.000). Conclusion: Longer internet use, higher social media activity, frequent cyberbullying, and increased online gaming all raise stress levels. Online gaming had the strongest influence, contributing 6.91% to stress.

Abstract

Background: Child marriage in Sigi Regency has shown an increasing trend from year to year between 2020 and 2025. In 2020, a significant surge was recorded, which rose even more sharply in 2023. This increase is driven by various factors such as premarital pregnancy, economic pressure, and the influence of social media, especially in remote areas. Objective: To determine the influence of sociodemographic factors, literacy, and self-identity on adolescents’ attitudes toward early marriage in Sigi Regency. Method: This study employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. The research was conducted in three sub-districts in Sigi Regency: Dolo Barat, Dolo Selatan, and Marawola, with a total sample of 100 respondents. Results: The Wald Test results for the variables Last Education (p = 0.046), Income (p = 0.048), Culture (p = 0.002), Literacy (p = 0.035), and Self-Identity (p = 0.040) indicate that education, income, culture, literacy, and self-identity have a significant influence on adolescents’ attitudes toward early marriage in Sigi Regency. Culture emerged as the most dominant factor, followed by literacy, education, self-identity, and income. Adolescents with these favorable conditions are more likely to reject early marriage practices. Conclusion: The study shows that education, family income, culture, literacy, and self-identity significantly influence adolescents’ attitudes toward early marriage in Sigi Regency, with culture being the strongest factor influencing adolescents’ attitudes toward early marriage.

Abstract

Introduction: Tuberculosis remains a major public health problem, and medication non-adherence continues to hinder treatment success despite the implementation of the Directly Observed Treatment Short-course (DOTS) strategy. Psychological and social factors, particularly self-efficacy and social support, play an important role in determining patients’ adherence to long-term tuberculosis treatment. This study aimed to analyze the influence of self-efficacy and social support on medication adherence among tuberculosis patients in Palu City. Research Methodology: This study employed a quantitative, comparative, analytical design with a non-experimental, cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of 489 registered tuberculosis patients in Palu City in 2025. A total of 83 respondents were selected using probability sampling with a cluster random sampling technique from seven public health centers. Data were collected using the Morisky Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS-8), the Tuberculosis Self-Efficacy Scale (TBSES), and the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS). Data analysis included univariate analysis and bivariate analysis using independent t-tests with a significance level of p < 0.05. Results: Medical care management (p = 0.003), support seeking (p = 0.047), and psychological adjustment (p = 0.038) were significantly associated with medication adherence, whereas transmission management was not (p = 0.993). All dimensions of social support, instrumental (p = 0.031), informational (p = 0.045), appraisal (p = 0.011), and emotional support (p = 0.015), demonstrated significant associations with medication adherence. Conclusion: These findings indicate that medication adherence among tuberculosis patients is strongly influenced by both self-efficacy and social support. Strengthening patients’ confidence in managing treatment and enhancing family and social support are essential to improve adherence and treatment outcomes
