Abstract

The prime objective of the currents study is to examine the role of the risk management committee in managing the supply chain risk and enhancing the supply chain performance. The three risk measures namely supply chain technology risk, supply chain integration risk and supply chain integration risk are used to conceptualize the firm supply chain risk. The risk management committee is one of a feature of the code of corporate governance which during the last couple of years have widely discussed in the literature in the reference of financial risk management. However, little or no attention has been given to explore the issue with the reference of operational risk management, especially in supply chain risk management. This is among the few pioneering studies being carried out to explore the direct role of risk management committee on firm supply performance and its moderating role on firm supply chain risk and firm supply performance. The SEM-PLS is used to achieve the research objectives. The data is collected from the operation managers of Indonesian based production firms operating in Indonesia. The results of the study have shown a great deal of agreement with our proposed hypothesis. Except the supply chain integration risk, all other measures of risk are in a significant positive relation with firm supply performance whereas the supply chain integration risk appears in negative and significant relation with the firm supply chain performance. The current study will be helpful for PR actioners, researchers and policy makers in understanding the link between operational management and corporate governance.

Abstract

The supply chain dynamics has been broadly examined and experienced by the academes, industrialists as well as economists. However, still the literature is missing with the effect of economic indicators on supply chain practices, particularly in fishing industry. Therefore, the objective of the current study is to examine the role of economic indicators on supply chain in fishing industry of Indonesia. Fishing industry is one of the industries which is working from many centuries and now growing rapidly and considered to be the important element of economic growth in different countries like Indonesia. Six hypotheses were formulated with the help of previous studies, concerning the relationship between inflation rate, interest rate, human development index (HDI), gross domestic product (GDP) and supply chain. GDP was considered as the mediating variable. Managerial employees of fishing companies were selected as the respondents of this study. Primary data was collected by conducting the questionnaire survey. Total number of one hundred and ninety-six (196) response were received. These responses were analysed with the help of statistical software namely; Partial Least Square (PLS). It was found that economic indicators have influence on supply chain. Increases in inflation rate and interest rate decreases the supply chain. However, increases in HDI enhances the GDP and promote supply chain activities. Additionally, GDP is a mediating variable between HDI and supply chain which positively enhances the supply chain through HDI. Thus, study provides the clues for government to promote supply chain by controlling inflation and interest rate.

Abstract

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the risk of six big losses and the effectiveness of packing machines at PT Surya Tsabat Mandiri in South Lampung using monthly data on production of bread products from March 2021 to February 2022 used in the research. Research was carried out on packing machine objects using quantitative data or data that can be measured systematically. The Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) method is applied to measure the total performance of equipment as a whole according to what must be done and to assess the dominant factors of the Six Big Losses which are dominantly used by the fishbone diagram approach. The research results show that the average OEE value of packing machines is 78.17% and is still below world standards (≥85%). Apart from that, evidence was found that the most dominant six big losses factors were idling and minor stoppage losses with a value of 16.85% and reduced speed losses with a value of 7.85%. Based on the fishbone diagram, the aspects that cause speed losses on packing machines are humans (lack of operator knowledge, lack of workers guarding bread baskets), machines (repair of damaged machines, unstable center and end seal temperatures), environment (unstable production room temperature) and method (non-periodic machine maintenance). The recommendation given to reduce these two losses is to use the TPM pillars, namely education and training, autonomous maintenance and planned maintenance.
