Abstract

Tujuan jangka panjang penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui sejauh mana kualitas semen beku Sapi Simmental meliputi motilitas, viabilitas, Membran Plasma Utuh (MPU) dan Tudung Akrosom Utuh (TAU), yang diberi minyak atsiri kulit jeruk manis pada pengencer tris kuning telur. di Laboratorium UPT-BIB Dinas Peternakan Propinsi Sumatera Utara, Jalan Jend. Gatot Subroto Km. 7 No. 225 Medan. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Juni 2017. Materi yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah semen segar Sapi Simmental, pengencer tris kuning telur dan minyak atsiri kulit jeruk manis. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) non faktorial dengan 4 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan. Perlakuan yang diberikan adalah penambahan minyak atsiri jeruk manis 0,25%, 0,5%, 0,75% dan 1%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan perlakuan terbaik pada penelitian adalah penambahan minyak atsiri kulit jeruk manis sebesar 1% yang dapat mempertahankan kualitas semen Sapi Simmental sebelum maupun sesudah pembekuan (Post Thawing).

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study aims to analyze the relationship between floating net cage size, labor, feed, seeds and medicine with tilapia production in Toba Samosir Regency. The selection of the study area was carried out purposively because Toba Samosir district was a tilapia aquaculture area that had the largest harvest area in North Sumatra. The data used are secondary data and primary data obtained in the study area. The analytical method used is Chi-Square analysis using SPSS 18.0 software. The results of this research are floating net cage areas, labor, feed, seeds, and medicines used in relation to the production of tilapia fish in floating net cages in Toba Samosir District significantly. With the closeness of the relationship between the extent of Floating Net Cages, feed, medicine with a production of 78.7%, and the closeness of the relationship of seeds with production 89.2 and the closeness of labor relations with a production 70.4%.Keywords: Floating Net Cages, Production, Production Factors, Tilapia.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between Body Condition Score and Service per Conception and Calving Interval of Ongole Crossbreeds in Deli Tua District. The material used was 75 Ongole Crossbreed cows. The method used is a case study, data collection is carried out primary and secondary. The variables observed were Body Condition Score (BCS), Service per Conception (S/C), Calving Interval (CI). The results showed that the average Body Condition Score (BCS) for PO cattle was 2, the S/C value was 1.9 and the Calving Interval was 14-15 months

Abstract

Proper supply chain management in tilapia commodities in Toba Samosir Regency is needed to add value, maintain stock and quality, and can be easily reached by consumers/ communities. This study aims to determine the production process, analyze the actors involved, and analyze product flow, money flow and information flow in the tilapia fish supply chain in Toba Samosir Regency. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. Data analysis method is carried out in several steps: 1) Data Collection, 2) Data Reduction, 3) Data Display, 4) Drawing Conclusion and Verification. The results of this study are 1) Tilapia fish production process in Toba SamosirRegency is carried out with two systems, namely the first fish cultivation is done starting from the nursery and the second is cultivation for enlargement. 2) The actors involved in the supply chain system for the freshwater fish industry in Toba Samosir Regency are Fish Cultivators, Collectors, Diluents, Fish Processing Industries, Consumers. 3) There are product flow, money flow and information flow in the supply chain of the freshwater fishing industry in Toba Samosir Regency. Product flow flows from upstream to downstream, financial flow flows from downstream to upstream and information flows flow in both directions.Keywords: Industry; Supply Chain; Tilapia; Toba Samosir Regency.

Abstract

One of factors that cause a bad quality of Boer Goat frozen semen is the growth of bacterial. This can be overcome by adding antibiotics such as streptomycin. To further suppress the growth of bacteria can be added other ingredients that contain antibacterials such as sweet orange essential oil. The purpose of this research is to know the percentage value of Membrane Integrity and Acrosome Integrity on Boer Goat frozen semen with addition sweet orange essential oil and streptomycin. The method used was experimental using Completely Randomized Design with 5 treatments and 5 replications. The treatment in this research is addition 0%, 0,25%; 0.5%; 0.75% and 1% sweet orange essential oil on tris yolk and streptomycin extender. The results showed the best treatment addition combination streptomycin and sweet orange essential oil to percentage Membrane Integrity and Acrosome Integrity is increase 1% sweet orange essential oil.Keywords: Boer Goat, essential oil, frozen semen, streptomycin, sweet orange.

Abstract

AbstractThe purpose of this study was to know the quality of Boer liquid semen during storage by adding sweet orange essential oil and gentamicin into the tris yolkextender.The semenlongevity test was carried out by storing semen in a closed tube at room temperature and refrigerator, and evaluated motility and Viability every 3 hours at room temperature and 12 hours in refrigerator. The results showed that the characteristics of the liquid semen, with the addition of 1% of essential oils showed percentage of motility and Viability significantly higher than 0.5% and without the addition of essential oil, either stored at room temperature or in the refrigerator. This may be related to the content of essential oils of sweet orange peel containing flavonoids and antibacterials that are capable of maintaining liquid semen quality of Boer Goat.In addition, gentamicin contains antibacterials capable of suppressing the growth of bacteria which can damage and durabilitythe spermatozoa.Keywords: Boer Goat,Gentamicin, Liquid semen, Sweet orange

Abstract

Background: Kelompok Tani Bunga Tanjung di Desa Tanjung Gusta, Kecamatan Sunggal, Kabupaten Deli Serdang menghadapi tantangan dalam produksi dan pemasaran domba, termasuk keterbatasan bibit berkualitas dan ketidakpastian harga jual. Hal ini berdampak pada produktivitas dan pendapatan peternak. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk membina kelompok ternak dalam meningkatkan kinerja usaha domba melalui penerapan skema manajemen rantai pasok dan implementasi model contract farming. Metode: Program dilaksanakan dengan melibatkan 28 anggota Kelompok Tani Bunga Tanjung melalui metode sosialisasi, pelatihan, dan pendampingan dalam aspek produksi dan manajemen usaha. Evaluasi dilakukan menggunakan pre-test dan post-test untuk mengukur peningkatan pemahaman peserta. Hasil: Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pemahaman dan keterampilan peternak, dengan skor rata-rata meningkat dari 33,2% menjadi 78,2% untuk inseminasi buatan, 44,8% menjadi 80,7% untuk suplemen herbal, dan 52,7% menjadi 86,4% untuk pakan alternatif. Implementasi contract farming menghasilkan dua kontrak kerjasama dengan perusahaan pemasaran. Peternak mendapatkan kepastian pasar dan harga yang lebih stabil, mengurangi risiko fluktuasi harga

Abstract

Pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memperkuat kelembagaan dan meningkatkan kapasitas peternak melalui pengembangan model bisnis inklusif peternakan di Desa Naman Jahe, Kabupaten Langkat. Permasalahan yang dihadapi peternak di lokasi tersebut meliputi rendahnya produktivitas ternak, terbatasnya akses pasar, lemahnya kelembagaan kelompok, dan minimnya pengetahuan manajemen usaha peternakan. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi sosialisasi, pelatihan, pendampingan, dan evaluasi yang dilakukan secara partisipatif dengan pendekatan Participatory Rural Appraisal. Kegiatan ini melibatkan 10 peternak yang tergabung dalam kelompok ternak lokal. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan peternak dalam manajemen usaha, penguatan struktur organisasi kelompok, terjalinnya kemitraan dengan industri pengolahan, serta adanya sistem rantai pasok yang lebih efisien. Melalui pendekatan model bisnis inklusif, peternak mendapatkan peningkatan akses terhadap input produksi, teknologi, pembiayaan, dan pasar yang lebih luas. Kesimpulannya, program ini berhasil memperkuat kelembagaan dan meningkatkan kapasitas peternak dalam mengembangkan usaha peternakan yang berkelanjutan.

Abstract

The purpose of this community service activity is to conduct practical training in determining the age of livestock based on the characteristics of the teeth of livestock. This practical training was carried out at a community farm in Gampa Village, Johan Pahlawan District, West Aceh Regency. The method of implementing this activity is in the form of socialization, counseling, and direct practice with the material of estimating the age of buffalo livestock based on the characteristics of teeth. The results of this community service activity show that the implementation of practical training in determining the age of livestock based on the characteristics of teeth shows an increase in the knowledge and skills of the people of Gampa Village, Johan Pahlawan District, West Aceh Regency in estimating the age of livestock through the characteristics of teeth. By knowing the age of livestock, it will provide better opportunities so that farmers can determine seeds that meet the criteria, choose the right feed, and know the right time to mate and fatten livestock.
