Abstract

Kampus Mengajar Program is part of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) initiative aimed at improving literacy and numeracy skills among students in underprivileged schools. This study explores strategies for optimizing supervision and preparing physics education students for participation in the program. Using a qualitative approach, in-depth interviews were conducted with lecturers from a physics education study program at a private university. The findings revealed that lecturers have a strong understanding of the program's objectives, yet the primary focus on elementary and middle school levels poses challenges in integrating physics-specific expertise. Students require comprehensive preparation, including pedagogical skills, mental readiness, and technological proficiency. Product-based assignments, such as teaching modules and learning media, along with process-based evaluations, were deemed effective in bridging field experiences with graduate learning outcomes (CPL). The synergy between supervision and the Kampus Mengajar Program fosters holistic learning, enhancing students’ practical skills. Curriculum adjustments to better integrate physics into elementary education contexts are necessary to address the gap in subject relevance. With structured supervision strategies and adequate preparation, the Kampus Mengajar Program can enhance students’ readiness as competent and adaptable educators in a dynamic educational landscape.

Abstract

This study aims to observe and reveal the process of planning and implementation of the Electricity and Magnetism course program from the perspective of the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curriculum in higher education. The participants involved in this study were one lecturer and 29 students of the Natural Science Education study program at one of the state universities in Pekanbaru City, Riau. Data collection was conducted in the period of April - May 2024. Data collection techniques were carried out through observations of learning implementation and interviews with lecturers in the Electricity and Magnetism course program as well as document analysis of the Semester Learning Plan (SLP) and practice questions. The results of data analysis show that administratively the course planning in the form of SLP has met the rules of the OBE approach. However, in reality, the strategies of lectures, discussions, and practice questions used in class are not enough to support the expected CLO. In the Science Education undergraduate curriculum, Electricity and Magnetism courses are included in the intermediate-level study program course group. In conclusion, although the Semester Learning Plan (SLP) document shows compliance with the OBE approach, the teaching strategies including lectures, discussions, and practice problems-have not fully supported the achievement of the expected CLO.

Abstract

The learning resources used by teachers in science education, such as textbooks and student worksheets, are often less engaging and primarily limited to occasional presentations. Students grow disinterested and distracted as a result of this lack of variation. This study set out to assess the efficacy, usefulness, and reactions of junior high school students to the employment of Android-based digital comics (MiGiRo) as a teaching tool for the subject of genetics. The Research and Development (R&D) method with the Plomp model was employed. Validation was conducted by material experts, media experts, and linguists, while practicality was assessed by science teachers, and student responses were collected from ninth-grade students. The data were analyzed quantitatively. The validation results indicated that MiGiRo received scores of 86.3% from material experts, 75% from media experts, and 92.5% from linguists, all within the very good category, making it suitable for use. The practicality test showed a score of 96.7%, indicating that MiGiRo is very practical with no revisions needed. Student response testing during the field trial resulted in an overall score of 88.3%, also in the very good category. It can be concluded that MiGiRo is a useful and legitimate interactive learning tool for junior high school students.
