Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim of analyzing the language style employed in press statements issued by the Walt Disney Company, focusing on comprehending how this language style contributes to effective corporate communication. A qualitative descriptive methodology was applied, with the research drawing upon press statements available on Walt Disney's official website. The analysis of language style was based on the principles of sentence structure as outlined by Gorys Keraf, encompassing five distinct styles: climax, anti-climax, parallelism, antithesis, and repetition. The findings of this research revealed that repetition emerged as the predominant language style, accounting for 50% of the language styles identified, while anti-climax was the least frequently used, making up only 2%. This prevalence of repetition in press statements was observed to serve the purpose of reinforcing key messages, aiding reader recall, and ultimately facilitating more effective communication. This research explores how language style is important in business communication, using the well-known example of the Walt Disney Company. This research is looking at how the specific way language is used in their press statements helps them communicate better. These findings can be useful in different areas, like marketing, public relations, and business communication. Furthermore, this study demonstrates how analyzing language can help us understand the different styles companies use in their communication.

Abstract

The use of mind map as collaborative learning activities in literary reading class will be examined. The students will choose any kind of technology tools to make a mind map in reading class. The aims of this study are to identify the implementation of using mind map in collaborative learning activities of a literary reading class and students’ perceptions on it. This is a mixed method research. The data are taken from observation and questionnaires. The observation results are used to analyze the implementation of using mind map in collaborative learning activities of a literary reading class. The questionnaires are used to identify students’ perception on it. This study results that the students had positive perception toward the use of mind map and believed that it helps them learn the materials faster, save more time in doing collaborative work, understand the relationship between ideas, and more motivated to read literary texts.

Abstract

Banyaknya isu kesalahpahaman dalam penyampaian informasi pada perkembangan teknologi yang semakin meningkat menyebabkan terjadi kesalahpahaman dan berujung pada perselisihan membuat perlunya pedoman pergaulan untuk menjaga kepentingan masing-masing pribadi yang berbeda-beda supaya pihak yang berkepentingan senang, tenang, tentram, terlindungi serta tidak merugikan masyarakat yanga lain. Tujuan dari pengabdian ini adalah memberikan pelatihan komunikasi yang efektif untuk mengembangkan keterampilan berkomunikasi agar tidak terjadi kesalahpahaman dalam berorganisasi. Mitra dalam pengabdian ini adalah ibu-ibu anggota PKK RW 20 Kelurahan Bunulrejo kota Malang. Metode yang digunakan dengan transfer pengetahuan, diskusi dan pembahasan permasalahan yang terjadi. Berdasarkan evaluasi selama kegiatan pengabdian, telah terlihat perkembangan pada ibu-ibu PKK RW 20 dalam berkomunikasi, ibu-ibu mulai teliti dan cermat dalam menyampaikan informasi dalam organisas

Abstract

In the education field, feedback is necessary to be conducted to improve the performance either positive and negative feedbacks. This study aimed to elaborate the students’ feedback on peer teaching technique applied in English language teaching subject. The descriptive qualitative was used to scrutinized the data from observation, questionnaire and interview from 28 students. The results showed that there were three positive feedbacks during performance. The satisfaction, improvement and effectiveness. While the negative feedbacks were on the preparation and management time of applying peer teaching technique. These results would assist the lecturer to have a better performance in the next activities.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the narratives of Kampung Warna-warni Jodipan, Kampung Budaya Polowijen, and Kampoeng Heritage Kajoetangan, three Malang City themed villages that have developed into popular tourist destinations. Social media, especially platforms like Instagram, has become a powerful tool in promoting tourism by enabling destinations to reach global audiences, foster community engagement, and create visually driven narratives that attract visitors. This approach aligns with the Sustainable Developments Goals (SDGs) 11, a globally recognized framework that emphasizes creating inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable cities and human settlements worldwide. By promoting these villages through effective Instagram storytelling, tourism managers can support SDG 11’s objectives by highlighting unique cultural heritage while also contributing to local economic and social sustainability. This study used a quantitative descriptive content analysis method. The results revealed that the three thematic villages have not yet fully used storytelling techniques in the content created and posted on Instagram, and have not optimally used tourism components, such as attractions, amenities, and accessibility. These findings suggest that the managers of the Kampung Warna-warni Jodipan, Kampung Budaya Polowijen, and Kampoeng Heritage Kajoetangan should consider incorporating storytelling elements and tourism components in creating content to effectively target audiences and highlight the unique qualities of each village.

Abstract

Realizing that each human being is naturally gifted with numerous talents, the objective of the study is to identify the potentials of Wringinsongo village and the marketing strategies the village has implemented to realize a tourism village. Wringinsongo village has abundant natural and human resources waiting to be explored, namely Sumberingin swimming pond, multipurpose building, natural clean water source, and local products such as traditional drinks made from turmeric, banana and papaya chips, as well as Jemblem, a traditional snack made from fried cassava. This study employed a descriptive qualitative design. The data collection methods were in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings revealed that due to some changes in management, the BUMDes has yet to be able to apply optimal marketing strategies. Furthermore, the village did not have any promotional videos or social media. The marketing strategies using a language approach were used to spread information about Wringinsongo village and its potential. It is expected that the village management will implement marketing strategies that use a language approach more frequently to support the development of Wringinsongo village into a tourism village. The marketing strategy using a language approach is to use attractive captions containing information about the facilities, infrastructure, and various potentials of Wringinsongo Village. Abstrak Menyadari bahwa setiap manusia secara alami memiliki berbagai bakat, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi potensi Desa Wringinsongo dan strategi pemasaran desa yang telah diterapkan untuk mewujudkan desa wisata. Desa Wringinsogo memiliki sumber daya alam dan manusia yang melimpah untuk dijelajahi, yaitu kolam renang Sumberingin, gedung serbaguna, sumber air bersih alami, dan produk lokal seperti minuman tradisional yang terbuat dari kunyit, pisang dan keripik pepaya serta Jemblem, camilan tradisional yang terbuat dari singkong goreng. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain deskriptif kualitatif. Metode pengumpulan data adalah wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Temuan mengungkapkan sehubungan dengan beberapa perubahan dalam manajemen, BUMDes belum dapat menerapkan strategi pemasaran yang optimal. Selain itu, desa tidak memiliki video promosi atau media sosial, strategi pemasaran menggunakan pendekatan bahasa, untuk menyebarkan informasi tentang desa Wringinsongo dan potensinya. Diharapkan manajemen desa dapat menerapkan strategi pemasaran yang menggunakan pendekatan bahasa lebih sering untuk mendukung pengembangan Desa Wringinsongo menjadi desa wisata. Strategi pemasaran menggunakan pendekatan Bahasa adalah dengan menggunakan caption yang menarik berisi informasi tentang sarana, prasarana dan berbagai potensi yang dimiliki oleh Desa Wringinsongo.
