Abstract

The purpose of this article is to describe the construction of Iḥsān and Rabbānī character from the perspective of the Concise Tafsīr of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Tafsīr al-Miṣbāḥ. The method used is library research, with the primary data sources being the Concise Tafsīr of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Tafsīr al-Miṣbāḥ. The data analysis employs Krippendorff's content analysis model with the following steps: unitizing, data simplification, coding, reduction, summarization, and narrating. The findings of this study indicate that the concept of Iḥsān (doing good or striving for perfection) and the Rabbānī character (God-centeredness) always go hand in hand. Obedience to Allah (the Rabbānī aspect) is demonstrated through good morals toward fellow human beings (the Iḥsān aspect). Both of these characteristics have been exemplified by the Prophets as enshrined in the Holy Qur'an. The findings of this study contribute to the development of hermeneutical methodology based on the Indonesian approach to exegesis, as well as the development and internalization of the concept of Iḥsān and the Rabbānī character within individuals, whether at home, in school, or in the community.
