Abstract

The problem examined in this study is the sub-optimal performance of teachers at SMA Pertiwi 1 Padang. This is indicated by the fact that the realization of teacher performance has not yet met the planned targets, which is caused by the sub-optimal leadership of the school principal. This study consists of two variables: the school principal's transformational leadership style (X) and teacher performance (Y). The objectives of this research are to obtain a description of the school principal's transformational leadership style, to obtain a description of the level of teacher performance, and to determine whether there is an influence of the school principal's transformational leadership style on teacher performance. The method used in this research is the explanatory survey method. The data collection technique is through distributing questionnaires using a Likert scale model, which is analyzed using simple regression. The population is 58 teachers at SMA Pertiwi 1 Padang. The data analysis technique used is simple linear regression test. Based on the research results, it was found that the school principal's transformational leadership style is in the effective category and teacher performance is in the moderate category. Furthermore, the data obtained has a linear pattern. The hypothesis test results show that the school principal's transformational leadership style has a positive influence on teacher performance at SMA Pertiwi 1 Padang.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the school principal’s digital leadership and its implications for the performance of productive teachers at SMK Negeri 1 Ampek Nagari. A mixed-methods approach was employed by combining quantitative analysis from questionnaires completed by 12 teachers and the principal with qualitative analysis through in-depth interviews. The findings indicate a noticeable difference in perceptions between the principal and teachers, especially regarding digital infrastructure, technical support, and industry collaboration. While the principal perceives the digitalization process as progressing well, teachers believe that its implementation remains uneven and constrained by limited facilities. Triangulation of data reveals that this perception gap stems from differing role perspectives in understanding digital transformation. The study underscores the need for needs-based training, improved digital facilities, and continuous evaluation to optimize digital leadership in vocational learning environments.

Abstract

This study aims to gain an in-depth understanding of the implementation of transformational leadership by the principal in developing a competitive and innovative school at SMK Negeri 5 Solok Selatan. The study uses a case study method by conducting literature studies and interviews with leaders, teachers, administrative staff, students, and the school committee. An in-depth analysis was conducted on the implementation of transformational leadership applied by the principal, the strategies used, and the identification of supporting and inhibiting factors, as well as the impact of the application of transformational leadership. The implementation of transformational leadership was viewed from four main dimensions, namely Idealized Influence, Intellectual Stimulation, Inspirational Motivation, and Considerate Behavior. The results of the study show that the transformational leadership applied by the principal at SMKN 5 Solok Selatan was able to increase the school's competitiveness as assessed by three indicators, namely school achievement, teacher qualifications, and student achievement in academic and non-academic fields. This study fills a gap in the literature by presenting holistic empirical evidence (through in-depth case studies) that transformational leadership is the main causal factor capable of mobilizing internal resources (teachers and students) to achieve all three competitiveness indicators simultaneously, particularly in the vocational school environment in South Solok.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of teachers' democratic-transformative leadership style on classroom learning management at SMK Negeri 7 Sijunjung. The background of this study is based on the importance of the role of teachers as learning leaders who are able to inspire, actively involve students, and create a participatory and conducive learning atmosphere. This study uses a quantitative approach with descriptive methods and correlational analysis. The research sample consisted of 41 grade X students, 23 grade XI students, and 10 teachers in the Computer and Network Engineering (TKJ) Expertise Concentration. Data collection was carried out through questionnaires and field observations. The results of the analysis show that teachers' democratic-transformative leadership style is in the very good category with an average score of 4.25, while classroom learning management obtained an average score of 4.20. The Pearson correlation test produced a value of r = 0.712 (p = 0.000), which means there is a positive and significant relationship between the two variables. The determination value (R²) of 0.507 indicates that 50.7% of the effectiveness of classroom learning management is influenced by teachers' leadership style. Thus, the better the implementation of democratic-transformative leadership, the more effective the management of learning in the classroom.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between principal leadership and teacher participation in the implementation of School-Based Management (SBM) at SMK Negeri 7 Sijunjung. The background of this research lies in the crucial role of school leadership in fostering a participatory, transparent, and accountable organizational climate, which is essential for the effective implementation of SBM and the improvement of educational service quality. This study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational research design. The population consisted of 32 permanent teachers at SMK Negeri 7 Sijunjung, while the principal was involved as a key informant to strengthen the contextual understanding of field data. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques, specifically the Pearson Product Moment correlation test. The findings reveal that the principal’s leadership is in the very good category, with an average score of 4.21, while teacher participation is categorized as high, with an average score of 4.08. The correlation test results indicate a positive and significant relationship between principal leadership and teacher participation, with a coefficient of r = 0.742 (p < 0.05). These results confirm that the more effective the principal’s leadership, the higher the level of teacher participation in SBM implementation, which ultimately contributes to the improvement of educational service quality at the school.

Abstract

This study aims to systematically review the influence of principals’ leadership styles and work motivation on teachers’ performance in vocational high schools (SMK) in Indonesia. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach was applied following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Thirty peer-reviewed journal articles published between 2020 and 2025 were collected from Google Scholar and Publish or Perish based on inclusion criteria emphasizing vocational education context and the examination of at least two core variables. The synthesis results reveal that leadership styles have a positive and significant effect on teachers’ performance, while work motivation emerges as a key determinant driving teachers’ responsibility, professionalism, and creativity. Both variables show a synergistic relationship—supportive leadership enhances teachers’ motivation, which in turn strengthens teacher’s performance. The novelty of this research lies in its comprehensive synthesis that maps empirical consistency and identifies research gaps within the vocational education context, particularly among Indonesian SMKs. The study contributes theoretically to vocational education management literature and provides practical recommendations for principals to implement adaptive leadership styles that enhance teachers’ motivation and performance.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs at Pasaman Barat Vocational Training Center (BLK) using the Kirkpatrick Model framework from a managerial leadership perspective. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, supported by quantitative data from 129 participants trained in 2024 across four vocational fields: Electrical Engineering, Information and Communication Technology, and Automotive Engineering. Data show that 11,63% of trainees gained employment after training, and 54,26% obtained BNSP certification. The analysis applied the four levels of the Kirkpatrick Model Reaction, Learning, Behavior, and Result linked with the managerial and participatory leadership style of the BLK director. Findings reveal that program effectiveness remains suboptimal, particularly at the behavior and result levels related to job placement and industrial competence improvement. Managerial leadership plays a significant role in enhancing instructor motivation, cross-department collaboration, and quality assurance. The study recommends strengthening post-training monitoring, increasing collaboration with industries, and enhancing leadership capacity among BLK managers to sustain training effectiveness.
