Abstract

Arabic conversation instruction in madrasah ibtidaiyah (Islamic elementary schools) is often hindered by limited vocabulary, a lack of confidence in speaking, and weak Arabic reading skills. This article discusses strategies employed by teachers to enhance students' conversational abilities through communicative learning activities tailored to classroom conditions. The activities involved instructional support that began with problem identification, followed by strategy formulation and implementation, and concluded with an evaluation based on student responses and engagement. Data were gathered through observations, interviews with the school principal, Arabic teachers, and students, as well as an analysis of instructional documentation. The results indicate that students' speaking skills develop more effectively when practice is conducted in a gradual, staged manner. Teachers began with read-aloud sessions and the reinforcement of basic reading skills, subsequently using songs and stories to help students recognize vocabulary within context. Interactive dialogues were introduced only after students had been exposed to sufficient examples and practice. Throughout the process, teacher motivation and encouragement helped initially hesitant students gain the confidence to use Arabic. Implementation still faced challenges, including disparities in student ability, limited vocabulary, inadequate teaching aids, and low Arabic literacy levels among some students. These findings demonstrate that strengthening Arabic conversational skills at the elementary level requires a process that integrates reading proficiency, pronunciation, vocabulary mastery, and opportunities for language use in actual interactions.

Abstract

The increasingly intense competition among micro-enterprises, including in the animal feed store sector, requires business actors to compete not only on price and product quality but also to apply ethical values in serving Muslim consumers, who also consider honesty, fairness, and blessing (barakah) in their transactions. This research is therefore important to conduct because studies on Islamic business ethics have so far been largely centered on formal sectors such as Islamic banking and e-commerce, while its practice in micro-enterprises in the livestock sector remains rarely examined empirically. This research aims to determine the implementation of Islamic business ethics, Muslim consumers' behavior in response to that implementation, and its impact on consumer purchasing behavior at the "Ternak Mandiri" Animal Feed Store in Surodikraman, Ponorogo. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study design; the researcher acted as the main instrument through a participant-observer position, with data collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using an interactive model of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with validity checked through source and technique triangulation. The results show that the store has implemented the principles of honesty, trustworthiness, fairness, and responsibility in its services, which consumers responded to with trust, satisfaction, and repeat purchases, and which impacted increased trust, loyalty, and consumers' willingness to recommend the store to others—demonstrating that Islamic business ethics plays a strategic role in building long-term relationships between micro-business actors and Muslim consumers

Abstract

This study addresses the need for effective instructional strategies that promote active participation and learning independence in Fiqh education. It aims to examine the implementation of Project-Based Learning by Fiqh teachers, its impact on students’ learning independence, and the supporting and inhibiting factors at MTs Negeri 1 Madiun. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study design, the study collected data through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving Fiqh teachers, the Vice Principal for Curriculum, and students. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while source and technique triangulation ensured data credibility. The findings indicate that Project-Based Learning creates more effective learning by encouraging students to participate actively in the learning process. This implementation contributes to students’ learning independence, reflected in increased learning activity, understanding, and motivation. Adequate learning facilities, parental support, and the surrounding environment further support implementation, although the study primarily identifies these factors as contextual conditions. The findings reinforce the practical relevance of Project-Based Learning as an instructional model for strengthening students’ learning independence in Fiqh education.

Abstract

Lecture dominated Fiqh instruction on prayer (sholat) at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah leaves students disengaged and struggling to memorize recitations and grasp movement sequences, resulting in learning outcomes below the established achievement criteria. This study describes the implementation of the Flash Card method and examines its effectiveness in improving Fiqh learning outcomes on prayer material among second-grade students. Using a qualitative Classroom Action Research design based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, the study spanned two cycles involving 14 second-grade students at MI Muhammadiyah, Madiun City, with data collected through observation, achievement tests, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed descriptively across cycles. The Flash Card method notably increased student engagement, alongside consistent improvement in recitation memorization, movement-sequence comprehension, and recognition of prayer pillars from the first to the second cycle. Classical learning completeness was achieved in the second cycle, with most students meeting the required criteria. These findings position the Flash Card method as an effective alternative strategy for teaching Fiqh at the elementary madrasah level, fostering more active, engaging, and meaningful learning.
