Abstract

Canggu Village is the area in the Badung Regency, Bali, which has recently grown to be one of the main attractions for tourists. Accordingly, this region has undergone rapid development and an increase in tourism-oriented facilities. Unfortunately, not all of these facilities have been built with architectural themes related either to the demands of the market or to the Canggu or Bali Villages' local characteristics. On the other hand, information technologies have reached a point where much data, popularly known as Big Data, is constantly available and can be analyzed for any purpose. Such inconsistency in the architectural themes expressed with the availability of Big Data has presented the possibility of determining what architectural theme fits the tourism market in Canggu Village. The objective of this research is to establish the more exact architectural design theme for tourist accommodation in Canggu Village based on Big Data analysis, while maintaining respect for local architecture value, form, and norm. The quantitative approach in research is adopted during this research. In this case, it means data was collected through Big Data exploration. Further, the analysis was done using the comparative-correlational method. Data revealed that the highest ratio falls into Modern minimalist architecture, followed by modern Balinese architecture. It means the application of such themes in the Canggu Village area is concerned with Modern Minimalist Architecture and Modern Balinese Architecture. In the future, consideration must be given towards including both themes to maintain the local identity of the architecture in Canggu Village.

Abstract

Canggu Village, located in Badung Regency, Bali, is a popular tourist destination known for its beach and nightlife, which has led to rapid tourism development. This growth has both positive and negative impacts, including traffic congestion and uncontrolled construction. To address these issues, this study analyzes the spatial planning of Canggu Village, focusing on accessibility, connectivity, interaction, and intelligibility. The aim of this analysis is to be able to produce output values for aspects of the level of effectiveness of spatial planning which in the future can be used as a reference for providing recommendations for more appropriate village tourism development so that tourism development and community residential needs can still stand side by side. Using a quantitative-experimental approach and Space Syntax analysis via the DepthmapX application, the research finds: (a) low to moderate local connectivity (average 2.46) with limited intersections; (b) relatively low local integration (mean 1.04), requiring more effort for movement; (c) high intelligibility (R² = 0.87722), allowing effective navigation; and (d) numerous minor roads emerging from major routes, creating an accessible spatial structure. This raises questions about the factors influencing connectivity amid unplanned development. Suggested development plan according to research results are: 1) Improving Connectivity in Local Areas (intersection/direct routes); 2) Boosting Integration Between Tourism Zones; 3) Optimizing navigation; 4) Tourism Supporting Infrastructure Development; 5) Involvement of Technology and Smart Tourism.

Abstract

As a quite popular Tourism Village, Bongkasa Pertiwi Village, located in Badung Regency, Bali Province, has experienced many spatial developments within its territory. The development was based on the findings of prior investigations show the phenomenon of spatial transformation of residents' houses both as a place for tourist accommodation and the economy. The spatial transformation that occurs increases the density of buildings and changes the spatial layout of the village area, so that in the future as a tourism village that will continue to grow, To find out, more research is require to measure the optimal level of spatial configuration in terms of inter-spatial connectivity and integrity in village spatial planning. The importance of this research is that the findings can be utilized as guidelines for village spatial design, making it more efficient and improving the quality of interaction between space users (residents and tourists). This study uses a Quantitative - Experimental method based on Space Syntax analysis. The results showed that the average level of connectivity was 2.19407 (highest "5"), integrity 0.286216 (highest "2.11"), and intellibility at R2: 0.0107275 (best close to "1"), The analysis' findings reveal a limited amount of connection between locations (space / area), so that social interaction that occurs between actors in village spatial planning is also low. These results indicate that the development of interaction center points is very much needed in the current Village Spatial Planning. The development must be based on the highest spatial connectivity-integration points based on space syntax analysis (found 4 area points) in order to obtain optimal results.

Abstract

The hospitality industry in Bali faces a significant challenge in adopting green architectural practices amid the increasing demand for fast development through fast-track methods. Although this method accelerates the completion of projects, many criticize its impact on environmental sustainability. This article explores sustainable design optimization strategies in fast-track projects by highlighting elements such as utilizing local materials, energy efficiency, and natural resource management. Case studies on several eco-friendly hotels in Bali were used to develop recommendations for architects and developers to implement design models that accelerate construction without neglecting sustainability. This research uses a qualitative approach with case study methods and in-depth interviews with industry experts. The study results show that applying environmentally friendly technology and structured project management can improve sustainability in fast-track projects. Therefore, the integration of green design practices into fast construction methods is an essential solution to support the environmental sustainability and hospitality industry in Bali.
