Abstract

Unpredictable natural disasters can traumatize a person and disrupt the victim's daily activities. Moreover, if this is the first time a victim has experienced a natural disaster. The trauma that arises and the impact on them will be different from the victims who have experienced several natural disasters. In this case, the researcher will provide an overview of the trauma experienced by flood victims who have only experienced floods once, a total of four people. This study uses qualitative data collection techniques using interviews, observation and phenomenological data analysis techniques. The results showed that natural disasters that occurred to participants caused trauma due to this unpleasant experience. This impacts participants who are more easily anxious and afraid when symptoms of natural disasters appear—looking at the results of the interviews in analyzing the symptoms of trauma felt by the participants and how disturbing they were in carrying out their daily activities.

Abstract

Clean and healthy living behavior (CHLB) is one of the fundamental aspects of life. However, public awareness of health behaviors in Indonesia is still relatively low. This research aimed to predict health behaviors using the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) framework, which has the components of attitude, subjective norms, behavioral control, behavioral intention, and behavior, in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. An incidental sampling technique was used to select 118 participants aged 20-40. Data were collected online using 17 questions about TPB. Path analysis showed that attitude and behavioral control predict health behavior indirectly through behavioral intention (partial mediation). On the other hand, subjective norms do not significantly predict intention but are directly related to health behavior. The implications of this study for policy and public health are discussed further.

Abstract

Abstract

Health is a basic need for everyone. Various methods are used by individuals to treat and cure their illnesses. Many Indonesian people still use supernatural alternative medicine with the help of traditional shamans. Alternative medicine from shamans is treatment by asking a shaman to cure the disease using supernatural methods. This study aims to obtain an overview of the decision-making process of individuals who undergo supernatural alternative medicine using the help of traditional shamans regarding the theoretical framework of the health belief model. Three informants had undergone supernatural alternative medicine with the help of a shaman. The method used is a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Data collection techniques using the interview method. Source triangulation techniques, observer persistence, and discussions with colleagues demonstrated data validity. Data analysis was done by data reduction, presentation, conclusion, and verification with communicative validity. The results of this study indicate that the behavior of undergoing supernatural alternative medicine with the help of traditional healers is supported by several factors, such as demographic factors, perceived vulnerability, perceived severity, perceived benefits, perceived obstacles, action cues, and dissatisfaction with medical treatment. Factors of dissatisfaction with medical treatment and lack of information about the disease informants suffered became typical factors in this study. This research shows that health literacy also needs to be provided to the public so that they are more aware of healthy living behavior and have sufficient knowledge to access appropriate health services.

Abstract

Currently, the prevalence of violence and abuse presents a significant challenge in the online world. This cyber violence can have adverse psychological effects and jeopardize harmony among different groups. The younger generation, consisting of active internet users, is particularly susceptible to cyber violence. Therefore, this study examines the effectiveness of an online anti-violence education program known as the "Influenced to Influencing Program." This program educates individuals through influencers and mass online campaigns conducted by the younger generation. The Social Learning Theory, where a person's social behavior results from learning, particularly by observing and imitating the actions of others, is used. Furthermore, the study involves 53 participants aged between 13 to 21 years from various regions in Indonesia who actively use social media. The results show that the Influenced to Influencing Program proves to have a positive effect on changes in knowledge (T=-6,406; p<0.001) and the attitudes of participants (T=-23,500; p<0.055) regarding cyber violence. This program also encourages participants to become influencers by disseminating knowledge about cyber violence to a more extensive audience. Given its effectiveness, the program has the potential to serve as an alternative solution for enhancing young people's knowledge of cyber violence and facilitating its dissemination among a broader population.

Abstract

Well-being is one of the most important elements and is known to be closely related to various aspects of human life, such as physiological health. Previous studies demonstrate that the natural environment positively contributes to well-being. However, most research on the natural environment and well-being mainly focuses on situational factors, such as contact with the natural environment, and ignores dispositional factors, such as nature relatedness. Thus, the current study aims to examine the role of nature relatedness (dispositional factor) and contact with nature (situational factor) in improving well-being among urban communities in Indonesia. This study uses a cross-sectional design and recruits 596 adults from various urban areas in Indonesia. Data were analyzed using structural equation modeling. The results indicate that the level of nature relatedness positively predicts well-being, while contact with nature partially mediates this relationship. Individuals with high levels of nature relatedness tend to make contact with the natural environment. This contact with nature ultimately predicts an increase in well-being. Thus, the study proves the mechanism that underlies the relationship between nature relatedness and well-being and illustrates that situational and dispositional factors play an essential role in well-being among urban societies.
