Abstract

Globally, currently more than 50 percent of the world's population lives in urban areas. It is projected that 70 percent of the world's population will live in cities by 2050. Given the sheer scale of urbanization and its environmental implications, it is important to consider the interrelationships between urban and rural contexts in an integrated manner. Achieving sustainable development requires priorities and the implementation of tailored policies in both urban and rural areas. One way that can be done is to strengthen rural cultural values in communities and indigenous peoples. In this study, the case study raised is the cultural value of the Samin Bojonegoro community in maintaining cultural values and preventing the flow of urbanization of its population. The creation of a livable environment through the cultural values of the Samin community will be raised through this research through ethnographic approach with synchronic and diachronic presentation. As a result The Samin community, which is rooted in the culture of an agrarian society, has not changed much in terms of vegetation, land use, and cultural activities. This has an impact on environmental sustainability and cultural establishment so that it seems as if it has a border from outside influences while also protecting cities from urbanization flows and environmental burdens

Abstract

The Dhawe Tribe cultural area, better known as the Ola Dhawe Traditional Village, is currently the center of attention of the government and the local community because the site has changed the activity pattern of the Dhawe Tribe community both in terms of culture and in terms of culture and landscape. These changes occur in community activities that can damage the environment, such as logging activities around customary forest areas, converting customary land into residential areas, natural exploitation around the Dhawe Tribe area, and replacing traditional house structure materials from raw into modern materials. The changes that occur are feared to impact the preservation of the landscape and culture of the Dhawe Tribe community. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct a study on human interaction with the landscape, which is now called the cultural landscape, as the primary material for sustainable development and efforts to preserve the various values. This study aims to identify the architectural characteristics and cultural landscapes of the Dhawe Tribe and determine the public's perception of its conservation efforts. Primary data was obtained using focus group discussions, while the analysis method was carried out in a descriptive-qualitative manner and continued with quantitative analysis. The results and discussion obtained can be developed on recommendations for preserving the architecture and cultural landscape of the Dhawe Tribe. The conclusion is that efforts to identify architecture and cultural landscapes and public understanding of culture are needed as conservation efforts.

Abstract

Sumber Jenon Natural Tourism Area is a nature-based tourist destination located in Gunungronggo Village, Tajinan District, Malang Regency. The site is renowned for its clear spring water, lush natural atmosphere, and preserved local cultural values, making it an attractive destination for visitors. However, the increase in tourist numbers has not been accompanied by optimal site management, particularly in terms of environmental comfort. Based on field observations and visitor perceptions, several issues were identified, such as the lack of supporting facilities, narrow circulation pathways, and less aesthetically pleasing spatial elements. This study aims to evaluate visitor comfort based on seven physical parameters: thermal comfort, aroma, safety, circulation, cleanliness, aesthetics, and spatial form. The research employed a descriptive quantitative approach through surveys using questionnaires and a rating scale analysis. The results indicate that thermal comfort received the highest score at 77%, followed by aroma at 75%, and safety at 74%. The lowest score was recorded for spatial form at 70%. These findings suggest that while overall comfort is considered good, improvements are still needed, particularly in landscape aesthetics and open space design. This study recommends enhancements in spatial planning, upgrading supporting facilities, and implementing sustainable environmental management to optimize the overall visitor experience.

Abstract

Panambangan Village has been designated as a tourist village in Cirebon Regency; however, its potential has not been optimally managed due to a lack of comprehensive planning. The purpose of this study is to analyze the potential of Panambangan Village and formulate recommendations for its development concept as a community-based tourism village. The research method employed is a descriptive qualitative approach, with a special emphasis on participatory mapping, which was implemented through focus group discussions (FGDs). This research process consists of three main stages: potential inventory, analysis, and formulation of recommendations. The results showed that Panambangan Village has significant potential, including natural attractions such as mountain views, rice fields, and rivers, supported by good environmental quality, as well as cultural potential. Basic infrastructure is adequate for supporting tourism, and the other side infrastructure, such as transportation and accommodation access, still requires improvement. The culmination of this research, through participatory mapping activities, successfully mapped the village's potential points, which were then grouped into three recommended development zones: the revitalization zone, the settlement zone, and the cultural zone.
