Abstract

Background : High blood pressure is the biggest global disease in 2015 and one of the factors causing premature death. High blood pressure is influenced by various factors such as age, stress, lifestyle and diet. People with poor eating patterns will result in the accumulation of fat in the body which will result in excess BMI or what is called obesity. The accumulation of fat will cause blockages in the blood vessels. According to 2018 Riskesdas statistics, there are 21.8 percent of obesity sufferers in Indonesia. Methods : This research uses a quantitative descriptive research design with a cross-sectional approach. With a sample of 92 elderly people and with an error rate of 0.05. This research was carried out offline using a sphygmomanometer and screening sheet. Results : The highest body mass index was in the obesity category with a percentage of 47.8% and the highest high blood pressure value was in the stage I high blood pressure category with a percentage of 77.2%. After the correlation test, it was found that there was no relationship between body mass index and high blood pressure, with p=0.153 p(<0.05). Conclusion : There is no relationship between body mass index and high blood pressure. Keywords: Hypertensi; Body Mass Indeks; Elderly; Physiotherapy

Abstract

ABSTRACT Background : Down syndrome cases in Indonesia will increase between 2010 and 2018. Down syndrome cases in Indonesia tend to increase.  In people with Down syndrome, chromosome number 21 does not split into two, but has three, or trisomy.  As a result, the baby has 47 chromosomes instead of the usual 46.  This causes abnormalities in the physical and mental development of children. This imperfect chromosome formation causes disturbances in cognitive function and quality of life during the child's growth phase. Methods : This study uses a correlational quantitative research design with a cross-sectional approach. With a sample of 83 children with Down Syndrome and with an error rate of 5%. This research was conducted offline using the cognitive scale for down syndrome (cs-ds) measurement tool and The TNO-AZL Questionnaire for Children's Health-Related Quality of Life (TacQol). Results : The results obtained in this study were that there was a significant relationship between cognitive function and quality of life in children with Down syndrome with a value of P = 0.000 for both variables and a correlation coefficient of r = 1.000 for cognitive function and r = 0.463 for quality of life. Because the value of r is positive for both variables, the relationship between the two variables is unidirectional. Conclusion : This study found that there is a relationship between cognitive function and quality of life in children with Down syndrome at YPLB Nusantara Depok.   Keywords: Down Syndrome; Quality of Life; CS-DS; TacQol; Physiotherapy

Abstract

Down Syndrome is a genetic disorder that occurs due to an extra chromosome 21. This condition causes various developmental problems, such as motor delays, muscle hypotonia, and cognitive and social limitations. Based on data from the World Health Organization (WHO), the prevalence of Down Syndrome in the world reaches around 1 case per 1,100 births. Physiotherapy management is an important part of helping children with Down Syndrome to develop motor skills, improve postural function, and improve quality of life. The patient aged 3 years and 5 months with Down Syndrome had delayed motor development, including not being able to walk independently, although he could sit stably and roll over. Clinical examination revealed muscle hypotonia, unstable posture, and limited joint range of motion. The patient had joint hypermobility characterized by asymmetrical posture and postural muscle weakness. The patient's diagnosis is Down Syndrome (Trisomy 21). Physiotherapy interventions provided include Neurodevelopment Treatment (NDT) to improve postural control and body stability, play therapy for fine and gross motor stimulation, sensory treatment to stimulate the sensory motor system, and positioning exercises to improve posture and joint stability. After three therapy sessions, there were significant improvements in the patient's ability to stand more stably, reduction of muscle hypotonia, and improved gross motor control. The success of physiotherapy intervention in patients with Down Syndrome depends on the consistency of ongoing therapy and the active role of parents in performing exercises at home. This shows the importance of collaboration between the physiotherapist and the patient's family to support the child's optimal development. Abstract

Background: The role of housewives, particularly those with toddlers, is physically and mentally demanding, often leading to high stress levels and workload. Purpose: This study examined the relationship between physical activity and mental workload among homemakers. Methods: A cross-sectional design was employed, utilizing the IPAQ-SF and RSME questionnaires to assess physical activity and mental workload. The study included 46 participants, most of whom were young mothers with one child and had a high school education. Results: The mothers had a high level of physical activity (16,479.85 ± 16,983.35 MET-min/week) and experienced a considerably quite large workload (mean score: 72.90). However, there was no significant relationship between physical activity and mental workload (β = 0.28, p > 0.05). Conclusion: These findings suggest that the physical and mental demands on homemakers are substantial, yet these factors may not directly influence their life satisfaction, highlighting the need for further research into the contributors to their well-being.

Abstract

Introduction: Down syndrome children occur due to a chromosomal abnormality in the form of an increase in one copy of the 21st chromosome to 3 chromosomes which is called trisomy 21. Down syndrome children experience physical abnormalities in the form of distinctive facial and body shapes as well as delays in motor and mental or cognitive development in the form of intellectual disability. Delays in motor development that occur in children with Down syndrome cause children's movements to be slower and daily activities tend to be done with the help of other people. Children with Down syndrome at school age are given education in special schools so that they receive an educational program that is appropriate to their development. Intellectual disability that occurs causes the educational program provided to be able to train with the aim of children being able to independently carry out their daily activities. To determine the description of motor function and quality of life in children with Down syndrome at the Depok Special Education Foundation. Methods: a descriptive study with a sample size of 89 people by measuring motor function using GMFM-88 and quality of life using TACQOL. Results: motor function of children with Down syndrome in the delayed category with moderate to poor quality of life. Conclusion: children with Down syndrome at YPLB Depok experience delays in motor function compared to their normal age, apart from that their cognitive function has less impact on their quality of life, which is moderate to poor. A training process is needed for independence and developing the talents of children with Down syndrome.
