Abstract

The issues faced by the Millennial Generation in Medan include a suboptimal level of education. This is evident from the lack of awareness among some millennials in Medan about the importance of education. Moreover, not all millennials in Medan possess adequate financial literacy, as seen in their low interest in participating in financial literacy training and development programs. The hedonistic lifestyle among Medan's millennials also tends to prioritize entertainment over education. Their financial behavior is often unwise, with a tendency to spend income on unnecessary items rather than saving or investing. This research employs a quantitative approach. The analysis results indicate that Financial Literacy does not have a positive or significant impact on Financial Behavior, as the p-values are > 0.05. On the other hand, Hedonistic Lifestyle, Financial Attitude, and Education Level have a positive and significant influence on Financial Behavior, suggesting that the proposed hypotheses are accepted and relevant to the Millennial Generation in Medan.

Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between emotional and spiritual intelligence from an Islamic perspective, with creativity and proactive attitude as mediating variables. The research utilized a survey among students at several private Islamic universities in Medan City. These universities were selected due to their Islamic vision and the presence of central business incubators or entrepreneurship centers. Students who carried out entrepreneurial activities from semester 3 to semester 7, totaling 120 people, were selected as sample size sufficiently representative of the population using a simple random sampling method. Data analysis was performed using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) from the statistical software package LISREL 8.80. The results showed that all the hypotheses tested in this study were supported, meaning that the Islamic perspective on emotional and spiritual intelligence was proven to encourage entrepreneurial intentions at Islamic universities in Medan City with creativity and proactive attitude as a serial mediator. Creativity and proactive attitudes mediate the relationship between emotional and spiritual intelligence towards entrepreneurial intention. Creativity and proactive attitudes reinforce the relationship between emotional and spiritual intelligence toward entrepreneurial intention. The better the creativity and proactive attitudes of the respondents, the stronger the relationship between emotional and spiritual intelligence towards entrepreneurial intention.

Abstract

This study aims to empirically examine the effect of financial performance indicators on firm value in companies listed on the IDX Sharia Growth Index during the 2021–2023 period. Specifically, the research investigates whether Liquidity, Leverage, Profitability, Asset Growth, and the Investment Opportunity Set individually and simultaneously influence firm value, as measured by Price to Book Value (PBV). The sample consists of 30 companies consistently listed in the IDX Sharia Growth Index, observed over a three-year period, resulting in 90 firm-year observations. Data were collected using the documentary method, drawing from secondary sources such as financial statements and IDX official reports. Panel data regression analysis was employed using EViews 10 as the data processing tool. The findings reveal that Leverage, Profitability, and the Investment Opportunity Set have a significant positive effect on firm value. Conversely, Liquidity and Asset Growth do not show a statistically significant influence. Moreover, all five variables simultaneously have a significant effect on firm value. These results highlight the importance of financial structure, operational efficiency, and growth expectations in determining firm value, particularly within the context of sharia-compliant firms.

Abstract

At PT KAI Divre I North Sumatra, this study investigates the impact of social intelligence, self-leadership, and employee ability on organizational commitment, with a particular emphasis on the mediating role of employee performance. Employing a rigorous quantitative research design, data were collected via structured questionnaires and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to examine both direct and indirect relationships among the constructs. The findings reveal that self-leadership significantly enhances employee performance; however, it does not exert a direct effect on organizational commitment. Conversely, social intelligence exhibits a robust positive impact on organizational commitment, despite having no significant effect on employee performance. Additionally, employee ability is positively correlated with employee performance, yet it does not directly influence organizational commitment. Importantly, the anticipated mediating role of employee performance was not supported, suggesting that enhancements in performance alone may be insufficient to strengthen organizational commitment. These results underscore the need for a comprehensive approach in leadership and human resource development that simultaneously fosters performance improvement and cultivates organizational commitment.

Abstract

Dengan demikian, literasi keuangan memiliki peran langsung terhadap keputusan investasi, namun tidak memperkuat maupun memperlemah pengaruh bias psikologis dalam konteks ini. his study aims to examine and analyze the influence of herding behaviour and overconfidence bias on investment decision-making, with financial literacy as a moderating variable among individuals in Medan City. The phenomenon of investment decisions that are not entirely rational due to psychological factors is the main focus of this research. Financial literacy is assumed to strengthen or weaken the influence of these psychological factors on investment decisions. A quantitative approach was used, with data collected through questionnaires distributed to 100 respondents with income levels around the regional minimum wage (UMK) of Medan City. The sample size was determined using the Lameshow formula. Data analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling - Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS), processed with SmartPLS version 3.0 software, including outer model testing, inner model analysis, and hypothesis testing. The results show that neither herding behaviour nor overconfidence bias significantly affect investment decisions. However, financial literacy has a significant direct effect on investment decisions. Furthermore, financial literacy does not moderate the relationship between herding behaviour or overconfidence bias and investment decisions. Thus, financial literacy plays a direct role in investment decision-making, but does not strengthen or weaken the influence of psychological biases in this context.

Abstract

The acceleration of infrastructure development in Indonesia has increased the demand for concrete, yet the use of natural sand is often hindered by silt content exceeding the 5% standard limit. Excessive silt content inhibits the hydration process and significantly reduces concrete compressive strength. This study aims to analyze the effect of silt content variations in fine aggregates and the effectiveness of plasticizer additives on the compressive strength of concrete with a design strength of f'c = 20 MPa. The experimental research used silt content variations of 2.82%, 13.52%, 21.71%, and 30.81%. Testing included material analysis, slump tests, and compressive strength tests on 15x30 cm cylindrical specimens at 3 days, converted to 28-day estimates based on PBI 1971. The results indicated that increasing silt content caused a drastic decrease in slump values and compressive strength. At the highest silt content (30.81%) without additives, compressive strength decreased by 36.34% to only 12.73 MPa. However, adding Additon H.E at a dosage of 200 ml/sack consistently improved workability and restored concrete strength, with increases ranging from 26.47% to 35.83% compared to concrete without additives. In conclusion, plasticizer additives are proven effective as an engineering solution to optimize concrete performance even when using low-quality materials.
