Abstract

Indonesia's Health Development, among others, aims to increase the awareness and ability of individuals and communities to live behavior patterns and a healthy environment. It is stated in the policy that health development requires effective and efficient efforts, resources and management in maximizing the degree of public health. Various characteristics and criteria of the community will require different health management. For example, in the late adult and elderly age categories, extra efforts and management are needed in maintaining a healthy, quality and productive life. Urban communities living in urban areas tend to have a more modern orientation of education and cultural values, but on the other hand, they face the dynamics of socioeconomic factors and environmental changes that affect the degree of well-being and individual health. One of the efforts to achieve a maximum degree of health is done through health promotion and examination. This activity has been carried out in urban and sub-urban Tangerang, involving 40 residents (10 men and 30 women) with an average age of 59.63 years. The results of blood pressure checks showed that only 11 residents were within the normal range, while the average cholesterol level was 208.39mg/dL; uric acid 7.89mg/dL; blood sugar 113.65mg/dL. This Community service activity recommends continuous and structured health checks in order to help achieve the degree of community health.

In order to adopt this behaviour, communities are expected to have the knowledge and ability to improve their health. The health problems experienced by the partner group are the lack of enthusiasm among children to practice healthy habits such as washing their hands, eating healthy foods, and having their teeth checked by health workers. Therefore, the objective of this community service activity is to increase school-age children's knowledge about the importance of maintaining their own health. This programme was carried out in two stages, namely stage 1 dental health education, brushing teeth together and dental health checks. The second stage involved education on healthy eating and hand washing. The evaluation conducted by the PKM team consisted of motor skills and behavioural assessments, where children were assessed on their ability to brush their teeth properly, wash their hands in six steps correctly, and answer questions on the topics presented accurately. It is hoped that this activity will be sustainable and able to improve children's health. Keywords: School-aged Children, Children's Capabilities, Clean and Healthy Lifestyle Behaviour

Abstract

ABSTRACT The increasing number of elderly people in Indonesia underscores the need for knowledge about the vulnerabilitiesand health issues affecting the elderly population. Furthermore, the lack of skills among carers and the healthcaresystem to provide adequate, preventive, and dignified care makes it essential to initiate action. The main goal is to disseminate the research results and introduce the multidimensional frailty assessment questionnaire to healthcare providers in Community Health Centres. The procedures commenced through collaboration with the Dinas Kesehatan Kota Bandung. The participatory action technique was employed to incorporate research findings into community service activity through joint planning. Two phases of the program: workshop and follow-up. Discussion, demonstration, and re-demonstration within peer groups were utilized for workshops, with site visits to obtain feedback from participants randomly. 12 Community Health Centres participated in this community service initiative. Six sites were designated for research, while six other sites are situated near Bandung Kulon. Each Community Health Centre was invited to send two representatives, including the principal and the individual responsible for geriatric polyclinics (n=24). This study utilized the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test and Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis. The results showed that the workshop effectively improved the knowledge and skills of most healthcare workers, with a p-value of 0.001 (<0.05). Furthermore, the follow-up phase involved exploring healthcare providers’ perspectives on the use of frailty screening for elderly patients at Community Health Centres, which yielded three main themes: Theme 1, Tools and Instruments Used in Screening; Theme 2, Challenges in the Screening Process; and Theme 3, Optimization and Adaptation of the Screening Process. This workshop demonstrated an improvement in critical thinking, problem-solving, and other cognitive skills among healthcare workers. Additionally, the perspectives of primary healthcare providers regarding the implementation of frailty screening for elderly patients at Community Health Centres emphasized the importance of multidimensional frailty assessment for elderly visitors to the centres. Keywords: Community Service Program, Knowledge, Practice, Workshop

Secara global, penyakit kronis atau yang biasa disebut non-communicable diseases mengalami peningkatan. Paling tidak setiap tahunnya menyebabkan kematian. World Health Organization (WHO) menyebutkan bahwa penyakit-penyakit kronis ini memerlukan perawatan komprehensif yaitu perawatan paliatif.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Cancer is a condition that can impact almost every organ and tissue in the human body. Cancer is the result of uncontrolled cell growth that infiltrates nearby tissues and has the potential to metastasize to different organs. Cancer patients often experience symptoms across physical, social, psychological, and spiritual dimensions. These symptoms can adversely affect a patient’s quality of life, necessitating help from their families for cancer sufferers. The purpose of this study is to investigate the correlation between family support and the quality of life of breast cancer patients in a private hospital in Western Indonesia. This study used the Chi-square test to perform a cross-sectional quantitative analysis with a descriptive method. The study utilized a questionnaire to evaluate family support and the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC QLQ C-30) to measure quality of life. 40 breast cancer patients were recruited for this study at a single private hospital. The result revealed that emotional (p values 0.011) and informational support (p-value 0.009) positively influenced the quality of life, but the instrumental and rewards supports had no impact on quality of life (p values 0.201 and 0.157 respectively). Family support is crucial for cancer patients. It can enhance the quality of life for cancer patients. Nurses must assist in meeting the support requirements of patients' families.  Keywords: Breast Cancer, Family Support, Quality of Life  ABSTRAK Kanker adalah suatu kondisi yang dapat memengaruhi hampir semua organ dan jaringan dalam tubuh manusia.
