Abstract

Intravenous insertion therapy given for a long time can cause complications such as phlebitis. Phlebitis is an inflammatory reaction in the veins along with signs of pain, redness, swelling, heat, and hardening at the puncture site and along the vein. One main factor that influence the incidence of phlebitis are external factors such as inappropriate intravenous (IV) catheters, length of catheter insertion, location of the catheter, pH and fluid osmolarity and internal factors include age, sex and comorbidities. External factors are factors that can be modified according to the authority of the nurse, so that the modification can reduce the incidence of phlebitis in the hospital. The aim of this study was to identify the external risk factors for phlebitis on peripheral intravenous catheter insertion in the inpatient room of a private Indonesian hospital. This research method was descriptive quantitative. Samples based on population, obtained from the Slovin formula were 95 medical records of inpatients with purposive sampling technique. Data collection obtained from medical record documents, included in the observation sheet. This study showed that more than half of the patients with intravenous catheters had the incidence of phlebitis (53%). Patients who experienced the incidence of phlebitis used an intravenous catheter size of 24G (88,89%), the location was in the metacarpal (56,33%), used hipotonic fluid (81,25%) and had an intravenous catheter inserted for more or equal to three days (63,41%). It is important to be able to increase the knowledge and skills of nurses, especially regarding the standard procedure for infusion and treatment as well as external factors that influence the occurrence of phlebitis. Keywords: Intravenous therap;, Phlebitis; Eksternal factors AbstrakTerapi pemasangan intravena yang diberikan dalam jangka waktu yang lama dapat menimbulkan komplikasi seperti adanya kejadian phlebitis. Phlebitis adalah reaksi peradangan pada pembuluh darah vena beserta dengan tanda-tanda nyeri, kemerahan, bengkak, panas, serta pengerasan pada daerah tusukan dan sepanjang pembuluh darah vena. Salah satu faktor utama yang memengaruhi kejadian phlebitis adalah faktor eksternal seperti ukuran kateter intravena/IV yang tidak sesuai, lama pemasangan kateter IV, lokasi pemasangan kateter IV, pH dan osmolaritas cairan. Faktor lainnya yaitu faktor internal seperti usia, jenis kelamin dan penyakit penyerta. Faktor eksternal merupakan faktor yang dapat di modifikasi sesuai kewenangan perawat, sehingga dapat menurunkan angka kejadia phlebitis di rumah sakit.  Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengidentifikasi faktor risiko eksternal kejadian phlebitis pada pemasangan kateter intravena perifer di ruang rawat inap di satu rumah sakit swasta Indonesia. Metode penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kuantitatif. Sampel berdasarkan populasi, yang didapatkan dari rumus Slovin adalah 95 rekam medis pasien rawat inap dengan teknik purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data yang didapatkan dari dokumen rekam medis di masukkan dalam lembar observasi. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa lebih separuh pasien yang terpasang kateter intravena mengalami kejadian phlebitis (53%). Pasien yang mengalami kejadian phlebitis tersebut menggunakan ukuran kateter intravena 24G (88,89%), lokasi pada metacarpal (56,33%), menggunakan jenis cairan hipotonik (81,25%) serta terpasang kateter intravena lebih atau sama dengan tiga hari (63,41%). Penting untuk dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan perawat khususnya tentang standar prosedur pemasangan infus dan perawatannya serta faktor eksternal yang memengaruhi terjadinya phlebitis.

Abstract

ABSTRACTIntroduction: The rapid development of technology encourages learning methods that are more practical, efficient, and fast. E-learning is believed to be an effective learning method for nurses in the hospital environment. The e-learning module requires adequate facilities and positive learner characteristics. Understanding nurses' needs and learning perspectives will facilitate e-learning implementation, especially for continuing nursing education. Objectives: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between experiences and the importance of e-learning, barriers, motivation, and nurses' attitudes towards the e-learning method in a private hospital. Methods: This study applied a quantitative method with a correlation design and conducted a purposive sampling technique with 66 samples. This study used an attitude questionnaire towards e-learning which was adapted from Chong. Results: This study revealed that most of the nurses already had experienced e-learning (98.5%). In addition, half of the nurses had positive attitudes towards e-learning (53%), almost two-thirds of nurses were motivated (74.2%), more than half perceived that e-learning is less critical (51.5%), and nurses reported a few obstacles to participating in e-learning (57.6%). Moreover, there was no significant relationship between experience, barriers, motivation, the importance of e-learning, and nurses' attitudes towards e-learning (p value 0.05). On the other hand, nurses also reported the main barriers to participating in e-learning included lack of time and minimum computer access to the internet ( 70%). Discussion: It is noted that nurses have the motivation to continue learning in the scope of clinical practice using e-learning. Only some nurses show a positive attitude towards e-learning. Thus, some improvements are needed to support e-learning for nurses, such as more time for learning, additional knowledge about computer use, and adequate internet networking.ABSTRAK Pendahuluan: Perkembangan teknologi yang pesat mendorong metode pembelajaran yang lebih praktis, efisien dan cepat. Pemanfaatan metode e-learning diyakini sebagai metode pembelajaran yang efektif bagi perawat di lingkungan rumah sakit. Modul e-learning membutuhkan fasilitas yang memadai dan karakteristik peserta didik yang positif. Memahami kebutuhan dan sudut pandang pembelajaran perawat akan memfasilitasi penerapan e-learning yang efektif, terutama untuk pendidikan keperawatan yang berkelanjutan. Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan pengalaman dan pentingnya e-learning, hambatan, motivasi dan sikap perawat terhadap metode e-learning di sebuah rumah sakit swasta. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain korelasi serta menggunakan teknik purposive sampling dengan 66 sampel. Penelitian ini menggunakan kuesioner sikap terhadap e-learning yang diadaptasi dari Chong. Hasil: Studi ini mengungkapkan bahwa sebagian perawat sebagian besar sudah mempunyai pengalaman dengan e-learning (98.5%). Selain itu, perawat juga sebagian memiliki sikap positif terhadap e-learning (53%), hampir dua per tiga perawat termotivasi (74.2%), lebih dari separuh memandang bahwa e-learning kurang penting (51.5%) dan perawat melaporkan adanya sedikit hambatan dalam pembelajaran (57.6%). Namun, penelitian ini juga menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada hubungan yang signifikan antara pengalaman, hambatan, motivasi dan pentingnya e-learning dengan sikap perawat terhadap e-learning (p value 0.05). Namun, perawat juga melaporkan hambatan utama untuk berpartisipasi dalam e-learning adalah kurangnya waktu dan akses komputer dengan internet (70%). Diskusi: Terlihat bahwa perawat mempunyai motivasi untuk terus belajar di lingkup praktik klinik menggunakan e-learning. Hanya sebagian perawat yang menunjukkan sikap positif terhadap e-learning, sehingga beberapa perbaikan diperlukan untuk mendukung e-learning untuk perawat, seperti lebih banyak waktu belajar, tambahan pengetahuan tentang penggunaan komputer, dan jaringan internet yang baik.

Abstract

Though blended learning has been applied in nursing schools in Indonesia, the number of studies with regards to students’ motivation and self-readiness in their courses is still lacking. In addition, many student nurses claimed that the Research and Statistics course was more difficult than other nursing courses. This study aimed to assess the nursing students’ motivation and self-learning readiness of blended learning in a Research and Statistics course of the Faculty of Nursing at Universitas Pelita Harapan. The preliminary study recruited forty nursing students for validity and reliability test purposes. Two questionnaires were translated and tested including the adapted Academic Motivation Scale and the adapted Self-Directed Learning Readiness Scale for Nursing Education. Both Cronbach’s alphas of the questionnaires were above 0.8 (good reliability), however some questions were revised based on its validity test results and its readability. A total of 181 students were involved in the study and descriptive statistics were applied in the data analysis. The findings showed that nursing students had relatively moderate self-directed learning readiness (mean 90.18). With regards to academic motivation, students’ intrinsic motivation to know (mean 3.35) was higher than in other subdimensions of academic motivation. It also means that most of the students felt happy while learning and exploring something new in the course. In conclusion, motivation and self-learning readiness of students are important when applied to a blended course. It is recommended that nurse educators should identify students’ motivation and self-learning readiness to provide student-centered learning especially in a Research and Statistics course. Further research may involve more universities in different regions of Indonesia.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRAK: Meskipun blended learning telah diterapkan di pendidikan keperawatan di Indonesia, sejumlah studi berkaitan dengan motivasi dan kesiapan diri mahasiswa dalam pembelajaran mereka masih kurang. Selain itu, banyak mahasiswa perawat mengklaim bahwa mata kuliah Penelitian dan Statistik lebih sulit daripada mata kuliah keperawatan lainnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi motivasi mahasiswa keperawatan dan kesiapan belajar sendiri dalam mata kuliah Penelitian dan Statistik dengan blended learning di Fakultas Keperawatan Universitas Pelita Harapan. Studi pendahuluan merekrut empat puluh mahasiswa keperawatan untuk keperluan uji validitas dan reliabilitas. Dua kuesioner diterjemahkan dan diuji yaitu Skala Motivasi Akademik dan Skala Kesiapan Belajar Sendiri (self-directed readiness) yang telah disesuaikan untuk pendidikan keperawatan. Hasil uji kedua kuesioner mempunyai nilai Cronbach Alpha berada di atas 0,8 (reliabilitas yang baik), namun beberapa pertanyaan direvisi berdasarkan pada hasil tes validitas dan keterbacaannya. Sebanyak 181 siswa terlibat dalam penelitian ini dan statistik deskriptif diterapkan dalam analisis data. Dalam penelitian ini, terungkap bahwa mahasiswa keperawatan memiliki kesiapan belajar mandiri yang relatif sedang (rata-rata 90,18). Sehubungan dengan motivasi akademik, motivasi intrinsik mahasiswa untuk mengetahui (rata-rata 3,35) lebih tinggi daripada sub-dimensi lain dari motivasi akademik. Ini juga berarti bahwa sebagian besar mahasiswa merasa bahagia saat belajar dan menggali sesuatu yang baru dalam pembelajaran. Sebagai kesimpulan, motivasi dan kesiapan diri adalah penting saat melaksanakan blended learning. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan agar pendidik perawat atau dosen untuk mengidentifikasi motivasi dan kesiapan diri mahasiswa dalam memberikan pembelajaran yang berpusat pada mahasiswa terutama dalam mata kuliah Penelitian dan Statistik. Penelitian selanjutnnya dapat memasukkan lebih dari satu universitas di daerah yang berbeda di Indonesia.

Abstract

Background: Pneumonia is the leading cause of infection-related death in children globally. East Java, Indonesia, is one of the provinces with the discovery achievement of pediatric pneumonia cases under 70%. Nganjuk Regency, located in East Java, has low discovery achievement of pediatric pneumonia cases (34.64%).  Nganjuk Regency also requires an up-to-date study to determine the current state of pneumonia risk factors. Objective: This study aimed to examine the occurrence of pneumonia in toddlers and its risk factors in Nganjuk Regency East Java, Indonesia. Methods: The design of this study was a cross-sectional using a rapid survey. The participants of this study were 210 housewives or other adult household members having children under five in Nganjuk Regency.  The  study procedure began by collecting data from seven districts wherein each district comprised 30 houses that were chosen purposely. Data analysis was carried out using bivariate and multivariate analysis. The data were analyzed using the statistical software STATA. Results: This study revealed that 18 (7.96%) toddlers had developed pneumonia.  The main risk factors for pneumonia among toddlers in Nganjuk Regency were the nutritional status of toddlers (OR=6.787; 95%CI=1.417-32.525; p=0.017), house cleaning (OR=3.381; 95%CI=1.160-9.851; p=0.026), and room occupancy density (OR=4.191; 95%CI=1.371-12.809; p=0.012). Conclusion: The incidence of toddler pneumonia can be reduced by educating mothers about pneumonia and its risk factors, monitoring toddler growth and nutritional status, and conducting routine surveillance of toddler pneumonia alongside sanitation inspections. Abstract

Latar Belakang: Usia sekolah merupakan usia penting dalam pertumbuhan dan perkembangan fisik anak yang merupakan periode kritis dalam mengembangkan kebiasaan agar menetap sampai dewasa. Pada masa ini, penting sekali mengarahkan kebiasaan baik pada anak, terutama Perilaku Hidup Bersih dan Sehat. Guru Sekolah MI Miftahusshibyan menjelaskan masalah kesehatan yang paling sering dialami oleh siswa/siswi yaitu batuk, pilek, demam dan sakit gigi dan terjadi berulang. Masalah kesehatan ini dapat disebabkan oleh hal yang berhubungan dengan kebersihan individu, yang dimulai dari perilaku dasar seperti cara menggosok gigi yang tidak tepat, mencuci tangan tanpa menggunakan sabun, memilih makanan yang tidak sehat dan bergizi, serta kurangnya menjaga kebersihan diri. Tujuan: Meningkatkan pengetahuan siswa mengenai PHBS di Sekolah. Metode: Metode yang digunakan dengan ceramah dan demonstrasi. Edukasi ini dilaksanakan pada Hari Kamis, 2 Mei 2024 pada siswa kelas 1 sampai kelas 6 dengan total peserta 250 orang. Sebelum dan setelah edukasi siswa mengisi pre-test dan post-test untuk melihat tingkat pengetahuan dan keberhasilan tujuan. Hasil: Hasil analisis pre-test menunjukkan 78 peserta memiliki tingkat pengetahuan baik. Setelah dilakukan post-test siswa yang memiliki pengetahuan nbaik bertambah menjadi 129 orang. Kesimpulan: Pengetahuan siswa tentang PHBS anak usia sekolah mengalami peningkatan.

Abstract

Teachers from SMKK BPK Penabur Bandarlampung have challenges in teaching new students during the Covid-19 pandemic (grade X). They expressed difficulty in recognizing students' learning styles to be able to provide effective learning for students. This PkM activity aims to assess learning styles, student aspirations and conduct webinar activities in an effort to recognize self-concept, career development and learning styles to students and teachers. Before the webinar was held, the PkM team provided a questionnaire that had to be filled out by class X students and the results of the entries were analyzed by a psychologist. Based on the entries related to learning styles, it was found that 66% of 65 class X students have a major learning style with 56% having an auditory learning style. In the minor learning style, most students (50%) of class X have a visual learning style. Based on the entries related to dreams, it was found that 38.4% of students wanted to become entrepreneurs. The webinar activity went well with a total of 199 participants consisting of teachers and students, 60.4% of participants were female. Evaluation assessment from participants (72.4%) strongly agreed that the activity was very useful. The webinar activity focused on discussing the results of the questionnaire that had been filled out by class X. Other participants from classes XI and XII wanted to be able to find out learning styles so that this was made into a follow-up plan.

Abstract

Indonesia's Health Development, among others, aims to increase the awareness and ability of individuals and communities to live behavior patterns and a healthy environment. It is stated in the policy that health development requires effective and efficient efforts, resources and management in maximizing the degree of public health. Various characteristics and criteria of the community will require different health management. For example, in the late adult and elderly age categories, extra efforts and management are needed in maintaining a healthy, quality and productive life. Urban communities living in urban areas tend to have a more modern orientation of education and cultural values, but on the other hand, they face the dynamics of socioeconomic factors and environmental changes that affect the degree of well-being and individual health. One of the efforts to achieve a maximum degree of health is done through health promotion and examination. This activity has been carried out in urban and sub-urban Tangerang, involving 40 residents (10 men and 30 women) with an average age of 59.63 years. The results of blood pressure checks showed that only 11 residents were within the normal range, while the average cholesterol level was 208.39mg/dL; uric acid 7.89mg/dL; blood sugar 113.65mg/dL. This Community service activity recommends continuous and structured health checks in order to help achieve the degree of community health.

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Perubahan cuaca dan perilaku tidak sehat dapat meningkatkan risiko penyakit seperti Infeksi Saluran Pernafasan Akut (ISPA). Siswa sekolah dasar lebih rentan terhadap penyakit ISPA karena sistem kekebalan tubuh mereka masih dalam tahap perkembangan, dan interaksi yang intens antara siswa di sekolah dapat meningkatkan risiko penularan infeksi antar siswa. Informasi sekolah SDIT Assalam Curug bahwa ISPA menjadi masalah kesehatan yang paling sering terjadi di antara siswa-siswi. Karena itu edukasi pencegahan ISPA pada siswa dirasa penting dilakukan. Tujuan: Edukasi bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan siswa-siswi mengenai pentingnya pencegahan ISPA dan mampu mempraktikkan etika batuk dan bersin dengan benar di Sekolah. Metode: Edukasi kesehatan dilaksanakan pada hari Jumat, 3 Mei 2024, dengan peserta 113 siswa-siswi kelas 3, 4 dan 5. Edukasi dilakukan dengan ceramah, demonstrasi, games dan diskusi. Pre-test dan post-test diberikan kepada peserta untuk mengevaluasi pengetahuan peserta dan keberhasilan tujuan kegiatan. Hasil: Rerata nilai pre-test sebesar 7,48, dan terdapat peningkatan pengetahuan dimana rerata nilai post-test sebesar 7.93. Peserta juga mampu mendemonstrasikan ulang etika batuk dan bersin dengan baik. Kesimpulan: Terdapat peningkatan pengetahuan dan kemampuan siswa-siswi dalam pencegahan ISPA. Edukasi kesehatan sesuai masalah kesehatan yang dialami siswa-siswi perlu rutin dilakukan dalam menjaga status kesehatan.

Both Cronbach’s alphas of the questionnaires were above 0.8 (good reliability), however some questions were revised based on its validity test results and its readability. A total of 181 students were involved in the study and descriptive statistics were applied in the data analysis. The findings showed that nursing students had relatively moderate self-directed learning readiness (mean 90.18). With regards to academic motivation, students’ intrinsic motivation to know (mean 3.35) was higher than in other subdimensions of academic motivation. It also means that most of the students felt happy while learning and exploring something new in the course. In conclusion, motivation and self-learning readiness of students are important when applied to a blended course. It is recommended that nurse educators should identify students’ motivation and self-learning readiness to provide student-centered learning especially in a Research and Statistics course. Further research may involve more universities in different regions of Indonesia.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRAK: Meskipun blended learning telah diterapkan di pendidikan keperawatan di Indonesia, sejumlah studi berkaitan dengan motivasi dan kesiapan diri mahasiswa dalam pembelajaran mereka masih kurang. Selain itu, banyak mahasiswa perawat mengklaim bahwa mata kuliah Penelitian dan Statistik lebih sulit daripada mata kuliah keperawatan lainnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi motivasi mahasiswa keperawatan dan kesiapan belajar sendiri dalam mata kuliah Penelitian dan Statistik dengan blended learning di Fakultas Keperawatan Universitas Pelita Harapan. Studi pendahuluan merekrut empat puluh mahasiswa keperawatan untuk keperluan uji validitas dan reliabilitas. Dua kuesioner diterjemahkan dan diuji yaitu Skala Motivasi Akademik dan Skala Kesiapan Belajar Sendiri (self-directed readiness) yang telah disesuaikan untuk pendidikan keperawatan. Hasil uji kedua kuesioner mempunyai nilai Cronbach Alpha berada di atas 0,8 (reliabilitas yang baik), namun beberapa pertanyaan direvisi berdasarkan pada hasil tes validitas dan keterbacaannya. Sebanyak 181 siswa terlibat dalam penelitian ini dan statistik deskriptif diterapkan dalam analisis data. Dalam penelitian ini, terungkap bahwa mahasiswa keperawatan memiliki kesiapan belajar mandiri yang relatif sedang (rata-rata 90,18). Sehubungan dengan motivasi akademik, motivasi intrinsik mahasiswa untuk mengetahui (rata-rata 3,35) lebih tinggi daripada sub-dimensi lain dari motivasi akademik. Ini juga berarti bahwa sebagian besar mahasiswa merasa bahagia saat belajar dan menggali sesuatu yang baru dalam pembelajaran. Sebagai kesimpulan, motivasi dan kesiapan diri adalah penting saat melaksanakan blended learning. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan agar pendidik perawat atau dosen untuk mengidentifikasi motivasi dan kesiapan diri mahasiswa dalam memberikan pembelajaran yang berpusat pada mahasiswa terutama dalam mata kuliah Penelitian dan Statistik. Penelitian selanjutnnya dapat memasukkan lebih dari satu universitas di daerah yang berbeda di Indonesia.

Abstract

Background: This study aimed to examine the effect of educational intervention using video role-playing on the knowledge of civility among second-year nursing students at a private faculty of nursing. Methods: This study employed a quasi-experimental design using pre-post approach. A total of 148 nursing students completed the intervention. The educational intervention consisted of 60 minutes-online learning, including watching video role-plays and discussions. This study applied a paired t-test for data analysis. Results: There was a significant effect before and after the educational intervention. Before the intervention, few respondents reported their perceived civility were under uncivil and mildly civil categories. After the intervention, all respondents perceived their civility were moderate to highly civility. Conclusions: Video-based educational intervention significantly affects students' perceived civility
