Abstract

Menarche is an important experience in the lives of adolescent girls that marks the beginning of puberty and biological readiness for reproductive function. Unpreparedness in facing menarche often causes anxiety, fear, and even trauma. Therefore, the role of parents, especially mothers, in providing information and education about menarche is very important. This study aims to determine the extent of the role of parents in providing information related to menarche preparation for adolescent girls. This research method uses a descriptive approach with data collection techniques through questionnaires to 50 adolescent girls aged 10–13 years. The results showed that most adolescents who received information from their parents felt more prepared and less afraid when experiencing menarche for the first time. It can be concluded that the active involvement of parents in providing education has a positive effect on the readiness of adolescent girls in facing menarche.

Abstract

Background: Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) in pregnant women is a major risk factor contributing to stunting in children. A local food-based supplementary feeding (PMT) program has been implemented in several stunting-prone areas as a promotive-preventive strategy to improve the nutritional status of pregnant women. Objective: To analyze the effectiveness of the local food-based PMT program in reducing the prevalence of CED among pregnant women in stunting-prone areas. Methods: This quantitative study used a quasi-experimental pre-post test design without a control group. Subjects were 60 pregnant women in their second and third trimesters in the intervention area. Data were collected through measurements of mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC), body mass index (BMI), and nutritional intake questionnaires over a 3-month period. Results: There was a significant increase in mean MUAC from 22.8 cm to 24.1 cm (p<0.05), as well as an increase in daily energy and protein intake based on a 24-hour food recall. A total of 68.3% of respondents who were initially at risk of CED experienced improvements in nutritional status after the program was implemented. Conclusion: The local food-based PMT program is effective in reducing the risk of chronic energy deficiency syndrome (CED) and improving the nutritional status of pregnant women. Recommendations include integrating PMT into routine integrated health post (Posyandu) policies and sustainable use of local food resources.

Abstract

Antenatal care (ANC) visits are one of the important efforts in reducing maternal and infant mortality rates. However, compliance of pregnant women in conducting ANC visits is still a challenge in various regions. This study aims to determine the effect of education level and attitudes of pregnant women on the frequency of ANC visits at the Community Health Center. This study used a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample of the study was 100 pregnant women who visited Community Health Center X during the last six months. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test and logistic regression. The results showed that education level (p = 0.003) and attitudes of pregnant women (p = 0.001) had a significant effect on compliance with ANC visits. It can be concluded that the higher the education and positive attitudes of pregnant women, the higher the likelihood of them making ANC visits according to standards. Therefore, interventions in the form of health education and counseling are needed to increase awareness of pregnant women regarding the importance of ANC.

Abstract

Factors that cause early marriage among teenagers include arranged marriages carried out by parents who believe in customs that are afraid that their children will become spinsters, committing adultery for Muslims. Another factor is accidents, this happens because the flow of modernization is increasingly rapidly spreading into the social life of every teenager so that usually teenagers who marry at a relatively young age are forced to do so. The purpose of Community Service is to increase knowledge about the impact of early marriage referring to formal or informal marriage for the mental and physical health of teenagers. The method used in Community Service activities is socialization and education of adolescent health through discussions and questions and answers related to reproductive health conditions. The results of community service were obtained based on post-test data showing that knowledge about the impact of early marriage on teenagers was more in the good category, as many as 45 people out of 47 people with a value of 89 from the total respondents. The conclusion is that early marriage can reduce harmony in the family, this is caused by emotions that are still unstable, the turmoil of young blood and immature ways of thinking. And the inability of the husband to meet the economic needs of the family causes deviations in the community environment.
