Abstract

This research aims to describe single sentences and compound sentences in headlines in the March 2023 edition of Radar Karawang newspaper. The subjects of this research are 21 news headlines in the March 2023 edition of Radar Karawang. The object follows up the analysis of Radar Karawang newspaper by classifying the structure of single sentences and compound sentences. Then, the data collection technique used in this research is note taking technique. The researcher conducts 3 stages of data analysis, namely the preparation stage, the implementation stage and the completion stage. Then, the researcher uses data analysis techniques, namely, data reduction, preparation and verification. The researcher used the description method with a qualitative approach, with the aim of obtaining a description to find findings that will be described and describe the results of the analysis. The result of this research found 21 Headline Titles in the March 2023 Edition of Radar Karawang print mass media obtained 124 sentences, from all of these sentences there are 79 single sentences, 29 equivalent compound sentences and 16 multilevel compound sentences. However, in mixed compound sentences, the researcher did not find any type of mixed compound sentences in the headlines of Radar Karawang. This research can be utilized in teaching materials in the form of e-modules for junior high school level, especially class VIII, to facilitate the learning process.

Abstract

Speaking is a person's second language activity in language life after listening. With speaking skills, along with the ability to express thoughts, it is necessary to have optimism at first. To deepen or sharpen these skills, suggestions are needed that reach their achievement through the application of a supporting foundation of language skills. As well as speaking skills. One of them is in the role play or acting. Rarely do people do it just for free. Even if the drama is considered interesting, the results are good. In order to achieve his expertise, a method is needed that can foster the mentality of art in theatre. In carrying out a play, speaking skills tend to be handled in a variety of ways.

Abstract

This study aims to provide an explanation of the violation of assumptions that have been formed in the reader’s mind and what are the violations of the presuppositions contained in Pepekomik as a comic strip. The data of this research was obtained through listening method, with the advanced technique of speaking free of involvement, note-taking and recording techniques. The data taken focuses on the comic strip of Pepekomik in Facebook and Instagram. The method that is used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method. The type of presupposition that appears most often is lexical presupposition, while the least occurs is existential presupposition. Overall, the presuppositions that appear in the data are used by Pepekomik to violate the assumptions that have been formed in the reader’s mind and by using the violations from the presuppositions to create a twist at the end of the story to bamboozled the reader’s mind. This study can be recommended as a handout in anecdotal text learning because both of them share a common aspect, which is humor conveyed through written texts.

Abstract

In carrying out activities as a social creature, it is necessary and can cause language variations. Language variations that have different forms but have forms that resemble language in general. Language variants do not arise as a result of different speakers, but may exist as a result of the emergence of social interactions carried out in various ways. In this research, we examine language variations in terms of formality in the speech of salesmen and buyers in several points in the East Jakarta area with the problem of 1) How do the variations in language used by PT Karyatama salesmen advance successfully to buyers, and 2) What are the results of utilizing the language variations used? by the salesman of PT Karyatama Maju Berjaya to buyers as teaching material for class The theory used is the theory of Martin Joos and Abdul Chaer and Agustina (2010) which relates to language variations in terms of formality. The method used by the author is a descriptive qualitative method and the approach used is a sociolinguistic approach. Based on the research results, it can be concluded as follows: 1) 97 data were found, of which 15 data were in the form of casual variety, 42 data were in the form of familiar variety, and 40 data were in the form of business variety. Meanwhile, for the frozen variety and formal variety, the author did not find this data, and 2) the form of use was in the form of teaching materials in the form of handouts for negotiation text material for class X SMA.
