Abstract

Community service is one of the duties that must be carried out by every lecturer in Higher Education as one aspect of Tri Dharma University. This community service was titled "The Production of F0 Oyster Mushroom Seeds (Pleurotus ostreatus), The Post-Harvest Handling, and The Utilization of Baglog Waste into Compost" which involved two partners. Partner 1 was in Pegajahan Village, Pegajahan Sub-District who experienced problems with the availability of high-quality F0 and F1 seeds and low production in terms of quality and quantity. Partner 2 was in Blok H Village Dolok Masihul Sub-District, Serdang Bedagai Regency who had a lack of knowledge about post-harvest handling and composting from oyster mushroom baglog waste. Solutions offered for both partners were: (1) transfer of knowledge, such as lectures and discussions; (2) training; and (3) mentoring about the cultivation of F0 and F1 oyster mushrooms. Goals and targets of this activity were: (1) the communities or the farmer groups were able to produce and cultivate F0 and F1 oyster mushrooms, so they did not need to buy F0 and F1 seeds from other regions and can fulfill the market demand; and (2) Partner 2 was able to make compost from oyster mushroom baglog waste and various processed food from oyster mushroom to increase their income. The results of this activity have provided benefits to Partner 1 regarding their ability to produce F0 and F1 seeds, ability to process post-harvest oyster mushrooms into several types of food to increase its selling value, and ability to make compost from baglog waste which can be used for plants to overcome environmental pollution and to increase Partner 2’s income.

Abstract

The community subjection activities is a partnership program between the Community Partnership Program (PKM) with Dolok Masihul (Domas) Farmer Group partners. The problems are (1) Production aspects include a) Oyster mushroom chips are oily and less crunchy and do not last long; b) Plastics and labels used are still inadequate and straightforward because they are not accompanied by product information as well as packaging for oyster mushroom chips which is even done manually. (2) Aspects of Business and Financial Management, among others: a) Marketing is still carried out conventionally. b) Business management is always simple, carried out in a family manner, and there is no product legality. c) There is no separation between household finances and business finances. d) There are no records or business bookkeeping so that it is difficult to calculate the profits it gets. This community service aims to increase the knowledge, skills, and income of the Domas Farmer Group and the surrounding community through training in production, finance, and marketing. Community service activities are carried out using method 1). Transfer of knowledge, such as lectures and discussions, 2). Training, and 3). Bookkeeping assistance for the Oyster Mushroom Chips business. The results to improve the skills and knowledge of the Domas farmer group include making Oyster Mushroom chips using Deep Fryers and Spinners, knowing the use of social Media for marketing, and being able to make a financial report—publishing the Compilation Guide Book.

Abstract

The current rapid developments and globalization have triggered the conversion of agricultural land into residential, industrial and urban areas which has reduced land for agriculture. Aquaponics basically consists of fish farming and plant maintenance. Water, which is a medium for fish cultivation, is used as a source of nutrition in plant maintenance, while plants function as a biofilter for water. This cultivation technique is expected to obtain high productivity with limited land. Besides being able to meet food needs, it can also provide aesthetic value and environmental cleanliness in urban areas. This study used red onion seeds of the Sanren variety. This study was an experimental study using a non-factorial randomized block design (RBD) consisting of 1 treatment factor and 5 blocks. so as to get 20 research plots. Factor Planting media with symbol (M) which consists of 4 levels, namely: M1: Compost, M2: Chaff Charcoal, M3: Cocopeat, M4: Rice Husk. The results showed that the use of several planting media in the floating raft aquponic system had a very significant effect on the number of tillers (saplings), dry tuber weight per sample (g), dry tuber weight per plot (g). Keywords: Shallots, Growing Media, Floating Raft

Abstract

The aquaponic plant cultivation system is used to utilize narrow urban land in order to increase urban agricultural production. The aim of the research is to determine the effect of comparing types of planting media with an aquaponic system on the growth and yield of honey melon plants (Cucumis melo L.). This research used a non-factorial Complete Randomized Design, with 4 treatment and 5 replication with the factors studied was the comparison of several types of planting media for the "M" aquaponic system consisting of M1 = 50% sludge planting media + 50% rice husk charcoal, M2 = 50% cocopeat planting medium + 50% rice husk charcoal, M3 = 50% tankos planting medium + 50% rice husk charcoal, M4 = 50% filter cake planting medium + 50% Rice Husk Charcoal. The parameters observed were plant length (cm), stem diameter (cm), number of leaves (strands), flowering age (days), fruit weight per treatment (kg), fruit diameter (cm). The results of the research showed that the comparative effect of several types of planting media in the aquaponic system had a positive effect on the parameters of plant length (cm), stem diameter (cm), number of leaves (strands), flowering age (days), fruit weight (kg), and fruit diameter ( cm) with the best treatment on M1 (50% sludge planting medium + 50% rice husk charcoal). Keywords: aquaponics, planting media, honey melon

Abstract

Komoditas ubi kayu mempunyai nilai ekonomis dan banyak ditanam di Desa Sampecita Kecamatan Kutalimbaru Kabupaten Deli Serdang. Tanaman ubi kayu tidak dibudidayakan dengan perawatan yang intensif, baik dari segi pemupukan, penyiraman, pembersihan gulma maupun hama dan penyakitnya. Umumnya petani dalam pemeliharaan tanaman ubi kayu terutama pengendalian hama dan penyakit tidak melakukan pengendalian. Hama dan penyakit tanaman ubi kayu jika dikendalikan petani secara intensif, maka kualitas dan kuantitas hasil ubi kayu akan lebih baik. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan kepada petani ubi kayu di Desa Sampecita Kecamatan Kutalimbaru tentang jenis hama dan penyakit yang menyerang, gejala serangan, dan teknik pengendaliannya. Sasaran penyuluhan ini adalah petani ubi kayu dan kelompok taninya di Desa Sampecita Kecamatan Kutalimbaru.Metode pengabdian yang dilakukan adalah metode penyuluhan dan demonstrasi. Metode penyuluhan pemaparan tentang hama dan penyakit ubi kayu, siklus hidup, kerusakan, serta penjelasan teknik pengendaliannya. Metode demonstrasi meliputi praktek teknik pengendalian yang terdiri dari pertama memperkenalkan musuh alami dan pembuatan pestisida nabati daun mimba. Hasil penilaian kuesioner terhadap petani menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman petani tentang pengendalian hama dan penyakit tanaman ubi kayu setelah kegiatan pengabdian. Dengan demikian pengabdian ini akan memberi manfaat besar kepada petani ubi kayu dalam mengendalikan hama dan penyakit pada budidaya ubi kayu.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to determine the growth and production of three varieties of soybeans when soaked in gibberellins. The research was carried out in Sampecita Village, Kutalimbaru District, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra, which was carried out from January to May 2024. This research used an experimental design, namely a factorial Randomized Group Design (RAK) consisting of 2 treatments, namely varieties (Ring 1, Dega 1 and Devon 1) and gibberellin immersion, namely: 0 ppm, 50 ppm, 100 ppm and 150 ppm which were repeated 3 times time. The research data were analyzed and continued with the Duncan's mean difference test (DMRT). The results showed that the growth and production of soybean plants for varieties showed a significant effect on the parameters of plant height, flowering age, number of productive branches, number of pods per sample, number of pods per plot, weight of seeds per sample, weight of seeds per plot, and weight of 100 seeds, while the soaking treatment with gibberellin showed no significant effect on all observed parameters. The Dering 1 variety and gibberellin concentrations of 50 ppm and 100 ppm showed a fairly good effect on the growth and production of soybean plants.

Abstract

The utilization of organic fertilizers can be a solution to reduce dependence on inorganic fertilizers and also contribute to improving the surrounding environmental conditions. This study aims to evaluate the effect of applying fruit waste POC and goat manure fertilizer on the growth of purple eggplant (Solanum melongena L). The experimental design used a randomized block design consisting of two factors. The first factor is the dose of goat manure fertilizer, which includes: K0 (0 kg/plot), K1 (2 kg/plot), K2 (4 kg/plot) dan K3 (6 kg/plot). The second factor is the concentration of fruit waste POC, which includes : B0 (0 ml/L.air/plot), B1 (100 ml/L.air/plot), B2 (200 ml/L.air/plot) dan B3 (300 ml/L.air/plot). The parameters observed in this study include plant height, stem diameter, number of productive branches, number of fruits per plant, number of fruits per plot, weight of fruits per plant, and weight of fruits per plot. The analysis of variance shows that the application of goat manure fertilizer and fruit waste POC did not have a significant effect on plant height, stem diameter, and the number of productive branches. However, there was a highly significant effect on the number of fruits per plant, the number of fruits per plot, the weight of fruits per plant, and the weight of fruits per plot. Abstract

Fertilization using organic fertilizers in agricultural land can increase the number of organisms in the soil and the chemical, physical and biological properties of the soil can be improved. This study aims to determine the effect of providing POC fruit waste and chicken manure on the growth and production of long beans (Vigna sinensis L.) and to determine the best dose for the growth and production of long beans. This study applies a Factorial Randomized Block Design with 2 treatment factors repeated 3 times. Factor one concentration of POC fruit waste consists of 4 levels: P0 = 0 ml / L / plot, P1 = 200 ml / L / plot, P2 = 300 ml / L / plot and P3 = 400 ml / L / plot. Factor 2 dose of chicken manure fertilizer consists of 4 levels: K0 = 0 kg / plot, K1 = 2 kg / plot, K2 = 4 kg / plot and K3 = 6 kg / plot. The parameters observed included plant length, stem diameter, number of pods per sample/harvest, pod length/sample, pod weight per sample and pod weight per plot. The results of this study indicate that the provision of POC concentration of fruit waste and chicken manure fertilizer doses have a significant effect on all observed variables. There was no interaction between the provision of POC concentration of fruit waste and chicken manure fertilizer doses on all growth and production variables of long beans (Vigna sinensis L.) Keywords: fruit waste, chicken manure, long beans

Abstract

Pohon aren (Arenga pinnata) merupakan salah satu tanaman penting dalam sektor pertanian yang memiliki nilai ekonomi tinggi di berbagai wilayah. Namun, produksi dan kualitas pohon aren sering kali terganggu oleh serangan penyakit. Proses identifikasi dan diagnosis penyakit pada pohon aren memerlukan keahlian khusus yang seringkali tidak dimiliki oleh semua petani atau tenaga ahli di lapangan. Oleh karena itu, sistem pakar berbasis teknologi dapat menjadi solusi efektif dalam memberikan diagnosis awal serta rekomendasi pengendalian penyakit.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan sistem pakar diagnostik penyakit pada pohon aren menggunakan metode certainty factor (CF). Metode CF dipilih karena mampu mengukur derajat kepastian dalam penentuan diagnosis berdasarkan gejala yang teramati, sehingga menghasilkan output diagnosis yang lebih akurat dan sesuai dengan kondisi nyata di lapangan. Sistem pakar ini dirancang untuk menganalisis berbagai gejala yang diinput pengguna dan memberikan kemungkinan jenis penyakit serta tingkat keparahan berdasarkan nilai CF yang dihitung dari aturan dan bobot kepercayaan pakar.Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa sistem pakar ini mampu mengidentifikasi jenis penyakit pohon aren dengan tingkat akurasi yang baik, serta memberikan kemudahan bagi pengguna dalam mengakses informasi terkait gejala dan solusi pengendalian penyakit. Diharapkan, sistem pakar ini dapat membantu petani dan penyuluh pertanian dalam melakukan diagnosis dini, sehingga langkah-langkah pencegahan dan penanganan penyakit dapat diterapkan dengan lebih tepat.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to determine the effect of applying duck manure and liquid organic vegetable fertilizer on the growth and production of tomato plants. This research used a factorial randomized block design (RAK) consisting of 2 factors with 12 treatment combinations and 3 replications so that 36 plots were required in the study. The first factor examined was the treatment of duck manure with the symbol "K" consisting of K0 = 0 g/polybag, K1 = 500 g/polybag, K2 = 1000 g/polybag, K3 = 1500 g/polybag. Factor II treatment of giving liquid organic vegetable fertilizer with the symbol S consists of S0 = 0 mL/liter of water/plot, S1 = 10 mL/liter of water/plot, S2 = 20 mL/liter of water/plot. The parameters observed were plant height (cm), stem diameter (mm), number of productive branches, number of fruit per sample, weight of fruit per sample (g) and fruit diameter (mm). The results of the research showed that the application of duck dung fertilizer showed a very significant different effect on the parameters of plant height (cm), stem diameter (mm), sample fruit weight (g) and fruit diameter (mm), but showed no significant effect on the parameter of the number of productive branches. , number of fruit per sample, while liquid organic fertilizer for vegetables and the second interaction showed no significant influence on all observation parameters, namely plant height (cm), stem diameter (mm), number of productive branches, number of fruit per sample, weight of fruit per sample (g) and fruit diameter (mm). Key words: duck manure, liquid organic vegetable fertilizer, tomatoes
