Abstract

The community, especially teenagers, really needs knowledge, attitudes and skills in providing Basic Life Support (BLS) so that first aid to victims of illness or accidents can be saved and avoid death. Objective: This study analyzes the effect of basic life support training using seminars, booklets, and video methods on increasing the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of teenagers in Syamsudin Noor Village. Method: This research uses a quasi-experimental design with a control design. The population in this study were teenagers in Syamsudin Noor Village, with a sample of 30 people from each group. The variables include teenagers' knowledge, skills and attitudes regarding BLS, as well as educational media in the form of videos on handling essential life support and booklets on handling critical life support. The instruments used in this research were questionnaires, observation sheets, and learning media. The analysis uses the t-test at a significance level of 5% (0.05). Results: There was an increase in teenagers' knowledge, attitudes and skills regarding essential life support. The results of analysis using the t-test obtained a p-value for each variable of knowledge (p=0.005), attitudes (p=0.004) and skills (p= 0.0014) after implementing BLS training. Conclusion: There is an effect of increasing the knowledge, attitudes and skills of teenagers in the community regarding essential life support after being given education through learning videos, seminars and booklets.

Abstract

Penatalaksanaan Bantuan Hidup Dasar merupakan suatu prosedur kegawatdaruratan pada situasi korban yang mengalami henti napas dan henti jantung. Media SEBOVI diyakini sebagai media yang effektif digunakan dalam pemberian pendidikan kesehatan terutama prosedur BHD. Tujuan Pengabdian penguatan penatalaksanaan bantuan hidup dasar menggunakan media SEBOVI pada remaja di kelurahan Syamsudin Noor. Metode pengabdian dirincikan dalam tiga tahap meliputi tahap persiapan, tahap pelaksanaan dan tahap evaluasi. Hasil penatalaksanaan BHD diketahui kategori tingkat pengetahuan baik 15% meningkatkan setelah dilakukan upaya peningkatan pengetahuan menggunakan media SEBOVI kategori tingkat pengetahuan baik meningkat sebanyak 35%. Pelaksanaan secara berkelanjutan mengenai tata cara penatalaksanaan BHD terutama pada masyarakat di kelurahan Syamsudin Noor agar dapat tercapai kesiapannya.

Abstract

Efforts to manage emergencies by performing basic life support outside the hospital are closely related to the knowledge and attitudes of lay people as caregivers. Emergency measures with a safe airway, inspiratory and expiratory breathing processes, and smooth blood circulation are efforts of basic life support. Quick and appropriate management of basic life support emergencies will be able to save and avoid severe trauma that the victim is at risk of experiencing. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of video training on the accuracy of basic life support outside the hospital. The research design was quasi-experimental using questionnaires and the use of training videos in handling basic life support. A total of 60 respondents participated in this study, which was divided into pre and post-test groups. Data were analyzed using paired t-tests. The results showed that the p-value sig-0001 <0.05, which means there is an effectiveness of video training on the accuracy of BHD administration. Significant effectiveness results of 1.14 in video viewing, and significant results of 2.80 viewing video training on the ability of basic life support actions. Proper management of basic life support through knowledge and attitudes in the presence of video training.

Abstract

Basic Life Support (BHD) is an emergency measure to clear the airway, assist breathing, and maintain blood circulation without using assistive devices. Knowledge and ability are needed through a form of BHD training for lay people so that professional and skilled human resources can be obtained when carrying out first aid measures for victims of illness or accidents through providing basic life support properly and correctly. This research aims to determine the description of knowledge using the booklet method in the management of Basic Life Support for Students at SMKN 1 Sungai Pinang. This research method is descriptive, this research design will use media in the form of booklets in the counseling process regarding Basic Living Assistance to Students of SMKN 1 Sungai Pinang. The sample in this research was 145 students at SMKN 1 Sungai Piang. The results of the research show that the level of knowledge of SMKN 1 Sungai Pinang students using the Booklet Method in the management of Basic Life Support is 39% in the enough Criteria. Conclusion: BHD training for lay people using the booklet method provides significant meaning in increasing knowledge. So that BHD training education will be effective using the booklet method.
