Abstract

The phenomenon of Citayam Fashion Week has symbolically influenced the way lower-class youth dress in central Jakarta. What was once an urban area in Sudirman has transformed into a fashion arena after videos of young people sporting distinctive clothing styles went viral. More than just a social gathering, this occurrence has attracted significant attention on social media, showcasing unique fashion expressions. However, this spontaneous and instantaneous trend has sparked a wide range of responses, with opinions varying from viewing it as a creative expression to considering it counterproductive. This study employs Jean Baudrillard’s theory as its formal framework in qualitative analysis, with Citayam Fashion Week serving as the material object of inquiry. The findings reveal the symbolic imagery that influences societal perceptions through creative fashion expressions and highlights the potential negative impacts on society, particularly among contemporary youth.

Abstract

In Indonesia, human freedom is fostered through the democratic concept of Pancasila. However, sometimes human freedom with democracy still cannot be realized freely, because this freedom for some people is limited by Law No. 11 of 2008 concerning electronic information and transactions or commonly referred to as the ITE Law. The reason is, the ITE Law seems to regulate human freedom in the use of information media and electronic technology which should provide freedom and encourage the development and progress of information. Supposedly, the function and establishment of the law are to solve the problem of cybercrime Cybercrime. However, the law is instead used to restrict everyone's freedom of opinion, argument, and opinion. According to Satre freedom for humans in an authentic form capable of being responsible for what is done. That is, freedom for the Sastre is the essence of man so that man can choose what he should do without the need for subjective limitations. The purpose of this paper is to define human freedom in the ITE Law through Sartre's existentialism. This research is library research with qualitative methods. This research is considered important to guide that the ITE law restricts human existential freedom.

Abstract

The phenomenon of political dynasties is a contemporary issue that continually generates controversy, particularly with regard to moral legitimacy and the personalization of power within democratic practices in Indonesia. The ethical heritage of Javanese literature offers a value framework that is relevant to this issue, one of which is the value of nobility as taught in Serat Wicara Keras. This article is the result of research that applies the hermeneutic method to reveal the teachings of the value of nobility in Serat Wicara Keras as the formal object of the study, with the phenomenon of political dynasties in Indonesia serving as the material object. Library research was employed as the data collection method, beginning with planning, data inventory, data analysis, and classification. The results of the study are as follows: (1) Serat Wicara Keras is a literary work written by Yasadhipura II within the context of Javanese feudal culture. The work reflects Yasadhipura II’s critical reflection on social conditions during the leadership of Pakubuwana IV as the successor of the Islamic Mataram dynasty. (2) The value of nobility in Serat Wicara Keras is referred to as awirya, which constitutes the principal value that must be realized in order to avoid bilai (calamity). According to Yasadhipura II, nobility is not grounded in lineage, but in how an individual undertakes spiritual and ethical discipline (lelaku) until achieving mental and spiritual readiness for attaining nobility. (3) The practice of political dynasties in Indonesia is rooted in a culture of patronage and political personalization found in the leadership of several political parties. Yasadhipura II views the occurrence of political dynasties as a natural phenomenon; however, such dynasties must maintain nobility by adhering to processes that conform to the established moral order and principles.
