Abstract

Hypertension is currently one of the non-communicable diseases which is a very serious health problem. The prevalenceof hypertension in West Sumatra was recorded at 25.16% of the national prevalence of 34.1%. Management ofhypertension is through pharmacological therapy, namely by taking medication for life, and can also be accompanied bynon-pharmacological therapy, one of which is cucumber juice therapy. The research aims to determine the effectivenessof cucumber juice on blood pressure in hypertensive patients. The research used a quasi-experimental method (one grouppre-post test design). Conducted in Surau Gadang Village, Padang City with a sample size of 11 people obtained throughpurposive sampling technique. The pre-test results showed that the average systolic blood pressure was 145.45 mmHgand the average diastolic blood pressure was 81.82 mmHg and the post-test results showed that the average systolicblood pressure was 121.82 mmHg and the average diastolic blood pressure was 71. 82 mmHg. Conclusion Cucumberjuice is effective in reducing blood pressure in hypertensive patients. It is hoped that health workers, especially nurses, can provide health education about the use of cucumbers as a form of hypertension therapy.

Abstract

Background:  a total of 65 patients were diagnosed with foreign body aspiration at M. Djamil Padang Hospital during the 2017-2018 period. The age groups most frequently affected were 0-4 years (100%) in the larynx, 5-11 years (50%) in the trachea, and 0-4 years (50%) in the bronchi. Choking is a prevalent issue that can result in fatalities in some instances, necessitating a heightened level of attention. A dearth of information among parents, particularly mothers, results in a lack of awareness regarding the prevention and management of choking.Purpose: to analyze the effect of a health education demonstration method on the level of knowledge of mothers about first aid for choking in early childhood at Cahaya Ummi 2 KindergartenMethods: this study used Quasi-Experiment with the design of one group pre-post with a sample size of 43 respondents, selected through purposive sampling. The data were collected using a questionnaire and Bivariate analysis using the Wilcoxon test. Results: the findings of this study indicate that the mean knowledge score of respondents increased from 14.09 to 17.06. There is an effect health education demonstration method with the knowledge of mothers about first aid for choking in early childhood, with a p-value of 0.000.Conclusion: it is hoped that mothers will be able to apply first aid for choking quickly and appropriately in the event of an emergency.

Abstract

The new normal means that we wear masks every day. Masks are useful for preventing viruses and bacteria from entering the body. The body inhales oxygen through the nose to deliver it to tissues and cells, while a mask is worn on the face to cover the nose and mouth. Around 43.44% of people are uncomfortable using masks. Based on observations at the Padang Health Polytechnic, there were still students who did not wear masks because they were uncomfortable breathing. Therefore, the aim of this study was to see the difference in oxygen saturation before and after using various types of masks at the Padang Ministry of Health Health Polytechnic. This research is a Quasi Experiment with a One Group Pre-Post Test design. The research was conducted from January to June 2022. The population in this study were students of the Nursing Study Program, Padang Health Polytechnic, with a population of 154 and a sample size of 22 people taken using a purposive sampling technique. The statistical test used is the Wilcoxon signed rank test. The research results showed that the average oxygen saturation before using various types of masks was 97.79 and after 97.18. There was no difference in average oxygen saturation when using cloth masks, surgical masks and KF94 masks. Meanwhile, for KN95 and N95 masks, there is a difference in average oxygen saturation with a p-value of (0.008) and (0.003). The suggestion of this research is that it is recommended for students and the public to continue to use all types of masks according to their daily needs, because the use of masks does not affect oxygen saturation, even though there are masks that change the oxygen saturation value, the oxygen saturation value remains within the range of values. normal.

Abstract

particularly those facing chronic or terminal illnesses. Understanding the factors influencing death anxiety and the effectiveness of interventions is crucial for improving patient care and outcomes. This review aims to explore the psychological, social, and environmental factors contributing to death anxiety and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions designed to mitigate this anxiety. Additionally, it seeks to identify research gaps and provide recommendations for future studies. Methods: A literature search was conducted, resulting in the inclusion of ten studies focusing on different populations, including COVID-19 patients, elderly individuals in nursing homes, and terminally ill cancer patients. The studies employed various methodologies such as correlational studies, path analysis, conceptual analysis, retrospective analysis, comparative studies, and randomized controlled trials. Data were synthesized to identify common themes, methodological quality was assessed, and findings were compared and contrasted. Results: Psychological interventions, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), well-being therapy (WBT), and spiritual care programs, were found to be effective in reducing death anxiety. The design of healthcare environments also significantly impacted death anxiety, with well-designed palliative care settings providing substantial benefits. Holistic approaches addressing psychological well-being, meaning in life, self-care, and social capital were essential in managing death anxiety, especially among the elderly. However, several research gaps were identified, including the need for long-term studies, comparative effectiveness research, culturally sensitive interventions, and the potential of technology-based interventions. Conclusion: The review highlights the importance of integrated, holistic, and culturally sensitive approaches to managing death anxiety. By addressing the identified research gaps and implementing the recommended strategies, healthcare systems can enhance the quality of care for patients facing death anxiety, leading to improved patient outcomes and more compassionate end-of-life care.
