Abstract

Inadequate knowledge of husbands about exclusive breastfeeding will lead to low husband support, thus reducing the success of the exclusive breastfeeding process. This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge and husband support in exclusive breastfeeding at Eria Bunda Hospital. This study used a quantitative analytic research design with a cross sectional study design. The sampling technique in this study was purposive sampling, so that the sample in this study was 70 respondents. The measuring instrument used was a questionnaire and data analysis using the chi square test. The results of the analysis showed that there was a relationship between knowledge (p value, 0.048) and husband support (p value 0.000) in exclusive breastfeeding at Eria Bunda Hospital. This study provides advice that health workers make efforts to improve the health services of medical personnel and nurses in health education through socialization and counseling on the importance of the breastfeeding process in order to increase husband's knowledge as an effort to increase husband's support in the breastfeeding process.Keywords: Knowledge, Husband Support, Exclusive Breastfeeding

Abstract

Background: Due to a lack of awareness about balanced nutrition requirements, school-age children are currently struggling with a variety of nutritional issues, including undernutrition and excess nutrition. The purpose of this study was to compare the impact of comic books and posters on children's knowledge of a balanced diet. Methods: This type of research is a quasi-experimental design with a pre-post test with control. The research location was at the Ambon City Orphanage with 60 school children aged 10-12 years as subjects. The independent variable is the use of comics and posters in balanced nutrition counseling, while the dependent variable is children's knowledge. At the beginning and end of the study, children's knowledge was measured by a questionnaire. Data analysis used paired sample test and independent samples T-test. The results showed that there was a significant increase in knowledge of balanced nutrition in orphanage children before and after being given comic media and posters with a p-value <0.05. Counseling with poster media is more effective in increasing nutrition knowledge than comic media.

Abstract

Adolescence is the most important period in life after infancy, it occurs growth and biological changes, including sexual maturation, weight gain, and height increase (TB) reaching 20% and 50% body weight. Indonesia adolescents show a prevalence of being underweight at the age of 16-18 years by 8.1%, (1.4% very thin and 6.7% thin) and obese by 13.5% (9.5% obese and 4.0% obese). Meanwhile, in Maluku Province it is very thin at 1.27%, obesity at 2.61%. For West Seram Regency, the nutritional status data of the BMI/U index is very thin by 3.59% and by 3.45%. From this problem, this study aims to analyze the level of knowledge about diet with the nutritional status of adolescent girls at SMA Negeri 15 Seram Barat, West Seram Regency. The research method uses an analytical observational research design with a Cross Sectional approach. Sample selection was carried out by Axial sampling totaling 46 people. The results of the study with bivariate analysis showed that the level of knowledge about the diet with nutritional status (BMI/U) of adolescent girls at SMA Negeri 15, Latu Village, Amalatu District, West Seram Regency showed a value of > 0.05, which is for the level of knowledge with nutritional status statistically (0.000 > 0.192). So it can be concluded that nutritional knowledge and nutritional status are not related, meaning that a young woman with less knowledge does not necessarily have a poor nutritional status, because knowledge is only one of the factors.

Abstract

Masalah gizi terjadi pada setiap siklus kehidupan, terutama pada masa balita dan anak-anak. Malnutrisi mencakup undernutrition (gizi kurang) dan overnutrition (gizi berlebih). Bayi yang tidak mendapatkan ASI dengan cukup berarti memiliki asupan gizi yang kurang baik dan dapat menyebabkan kekurangan gizi. Malnutrisi dan infeksi kedua-duanya dapat bermula dari kemiskinan dan lingkungan yang tidak sehat dengan sanitasi buruk. Asupan zat gizi merupakan salah satu faktor yang berhubungan dengan status gizi balita. Asupan zat gizi dapat diperoleh dari zat gizi makro dan mikro. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan jenis desain survey analitik yang menggunakan pendekatan cross sectional study. Adapun sampel penelitian sebanyak 61 balita yang dihitung berdasarkan total sampling. Instrumen penelitian yang akan digunakan adalah kuesioner asi eksklusif, riwayat penyakit infeksi dan pengetahuan gizi ibu balita, FFQ semi kuantitatif, lembar pengisian hasil ukur antropometri, dan informed consent. Alat yang dipakai dalam penelitian ini adalah antropometri kit untuk mendapatkan hasil pengukuran antropometri. Kesimpulan dalam penelitian ini, tidak terdapat hubungan antara pengetahuan dengan status gizi balita, tidak terdapat hubungan riwayat asi eksklusif dengan status gizi, tidak terdapat hubungan penyakit infeksi dengan status gizi, dan tidak terdapat hubungan yang signifikan asupan zat gizi makro dengan status gizi balita. Disarankan pada penelitian berikutnya menggunakan sampel yang lebih besar dengan beberapa lokasi penelitian yang berbeda untuk melihat korelasi factor-faktor yang mempengaruhi status gizi balita.

Abstract

Stunting merupakan masalah global, nasional dan regional yang masih harus ditanggulangi dan dicegah di Indonesia. Stunting adalah kondisi gagal tumbuh pada anak berusia di bawah lima tahun (balita) akibat kekurangan gizi kronis dan infeksi berulang terutama seribu Hari Pertama Kelahiran (HPK), sehingga mengakibatkan gangguan pertumbuhan pada anak yakni tinggi badan anak lebih rendah atau pendek (kerdil) dari standar usianya Di Indonesia kasus anak stunting ini jika dilihat dari proporsinya cukup tinggi dan masih sedikit sekali penurunannya dari tahun ke tahun. Seluruh kabupaten/kota di Maluku merupakan daerah lokus stunting pada tahun 2022. Salah satunya Kabupaten Seram Barat. Berdasarkan studi pendahuluan yang telah dilakukan di Desa Waihatu Kabupaten Seram Bagian Barat bahwa kejadian stunting sebanyak 68 orang. Salah satu faktor yang menyebabkan stunting adalah pengetahuan ibu yang kurang mengenai makanan yang bergizi untuk anak, sehingga perlu dilakukan penyuluhan guna meningkatkan pengetahun ibu balita tentang pemberian makan bayi dan anak. Pencegahan dan promosi kesehatan difokuskan kepada penanggulangan penyebab langsung dan penyebab tidak langsung, salah satunya menggunakan media pendidikan kesehatan. Salah satu bentuk pemberdayaan masyarakat yang telah dilakukan edukasi pemberian makan dan bayi bagi ibu balita dengan harapan dapat menerapkan pemberian makanan bayi dan anak secara baik dan benar sesuai usia, frekuensi, jumlah dan tekstur. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan ibu balita di Desa Waihatu. Sasaran kegiatan ini adalah ibu balita yang berjumlah 17 orang. Hasil kegiatan ini adalah kader meningkat pengetahuantentang pemberian makanan bayi dan anak. Target luaran yang akan dihasilkan adalah publikasi pada jurnal nasional yang terakreditasi.

Abstract

Tantangan besar untuk menjaga rantai produksi dan distribusi pangan olahan yang bermutu secara konsisten, termasuk pada masa status darurat wabah COVID-19. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas penggunaan media booklet untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan, sikap, dan praktik penjamah makanan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan desain pre-post test design. Lokasi penelitian di rumah makan di Kota Ambon, yang akan dilaksanakan pada bulan Maret 2021. Subjek penelitian adalah seluruh penjamah makanan yang berjumlah 70 orang. Pengambilan sampel penjamah makanan dilakukan dengan menggunakan simple random sampling. Variabel bebas adalah media booklet tentang penyuluhan gizi seimbang, sedangkan variabel terikat adalah pengetahuan, sikap dan praktik penjamah makanan. Pada awal penelitian, pengetahuan penjamah makanan diukur dengan menggunakan kuesioner. Hari kedua penelitian, penjamah makanan mendapatkan perlakuan berupa penyuluhan dan pada akhir penelitian dilakukan post test. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji Wilcoxon. Media booklet secara signifikan dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan dan sikap penjamah makanan. Penyuluhan dengan menggunakan booklet dapat mempengaruhi praktik penjamah makanan namun tidak signifikan. Hasil penelitian diharapkan dapat memberikan pengaruh terhadap pengetahuan, sikap dan praktik penjamah makanan terkait penyediaan makanan yang berkualitas pada masa pandemi COVID-19.

Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that affects children's growth and development. Exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months has been identified as a key intervention to prevent stunting. However, the practice of exclusive breastfeeding remains suboptimal, including in Ambon City. This study aimed to determine the relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and the nutritional status of stunted toddlers in Batu Merah Village, Ambon City, in 2024. The study used a descriptive quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach and total sampling involving 22 stunted toddlers. Data were collected through interviews and height-for-age measurements, and analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed a significant relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and the nutritional status of stunted toddlers (p = 0.017). Toddlers who were not exclusively breastfed had a higher risk of severe stunting. Therefore, promotion and education on the importance of exclusive breastfeeding should be strengthened, particularly in areas with high stunting prevalence.

Abstract

Various efforts to kill pathogenic bacteria in water with safer and more economical disinfectants continue to be pursued. The presence of antibacterial agents in plants can be a promising alternative to natural disinfection. This review discusses the use of natural materials as safer and more economical alternative disinfectants in the water disinfection process. Methods, This is a narrative review using sources from the ProQuest database. The key terms “Extracts AND Plants AND "Natural Compounds" AND "secondary metabolites" AND Antibacterial AND Pathogens AND water AND Escherichia coli” were used. Of the 45 studies found during the search phase, 12 were eligible for inclusion in this review. Results, This study shows that natural Plant Extracts have many uses not only as food ingredients but also as protection against various infectious diseases. Plant extracts as natural ingredients have active antibacterial compounds such as tannins, alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins and phenols which are sourced from seeds, flowers, leaves, bark and roots. Active compounds in plants can reduce or even eliminate pathogenic bacteria in water. Conclusion, Natural plant extracts have compounds that can kill pathogenic bacteria in water. Further studies on the use of natural plant extracts need to be carried out as alternative water disinfection materials that are easy to obtain, safe and economical.

Abstract

SARS-Cov-2 is a new virus that causes respiratory diseases that can cause respiratory system disorders, acute pneumonia, and death. The COVID-19 endemic continues to show positive things towards the endemic. The step to prevent COVID-19 is to convey information to the public regarding the prevention of COVID-19. The importance of hygiene in food handlers so that safe food is served is the focus of the implementation of Community Service activities. Hygiene implementation behavior is supported by nutritional knowledge, attitudes or behavior of the handler starting from the preparation, cleaning, processing, transportation to serving to consumers. Booklets as a health education communication medium can increase the average knowledge and nutritional attitudes of the handler towards the implementation of institutional food hygiene. Community service through a community partnership program was carried out through counseling and simulations using booklet media in Batu Merah Village as an effort to implement food handler hygiene during the Covid-19 endemic period. The counseling participants were food handlers at the Batu Merah Village Institutional Food Site, totaling 50 people. This activity adds insight into the thinking of participants regarding the application of hygiene, and through simulations the handlers can realize hygiene practices and be applied every day at food service institutions.

Abstract

Changes in dietary patterns among Indonesian communities toward foods high in fat, sugar, and salt have contributed to an increased prevalence of nutritional imbalance, including in Central Maluku. This community service program aimed to improve adolescents’ knowledge of balanced nutrition and healthy lifestyles in Dwiwarna Village. The activity was conducted in February 2025 using a pre-experimental design with a one group pretest–posttest approach. A total of 35 adolescents aged 13–18 years participated in nutrition education sessions involving interactive lectures, group discussions, and the use of printed leaflets. Knowledge was measured before and after the intervention using a structured questionnaire. Descriptive analysis showed an increase in mean knowledge scores from 58% to 90%, representing a 32-percentage-point improvement. Participants demonstrated strong engagement during discussions and showed better understanding of balanced diets utilizing local food sources. The results indicate that community-based nutrition education is effective in enhancing adolescents’ understanding of balanced nutrition. This program supports community-level nutrition improvement and contributes to achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2 on food security and nutrition.
