Abstract

Education has a clear object, namely humans. Understanding the nature of human nature, obtained an overview of the characteristics map about humans. The democratization of education can be realized, one of which is through community-based education in a national education organization. Communitybased in question is a local community with all the special characteristics it bears. By paying attention to the map of the characteristics of the local community, giving a foothold to the stakeholders to maximize the effectiveness of education - which is expected to be right on target. Schools as formalized educational institutions cannot take their roles as a whole. Two environments should not be ignored from the calculation of determining the success of students: the family environment and social environment. To achieve synergy, concrete steps must be framed in the spirit of communication and dialogue. The dialogue will open the veil of misunderstanding caused as a result of differences in thinking and perspective. The approach most relevant to this study is the socio-cultural approach. The material taught maybe a package from the institution that holds the authority of the policy, but the method of how to deliver the material is the responsibility of the Educator. The success of the packaged material is about how the Educator's method of distributing, transferring knowledge so that it can be fully accepted by students.

Abstract

The understanding of plurality and diversity is a necessity that must be carried out and followed up deeper, especially in the scope of community, nation and state. One of the portraits of Islamic education that the author describes is the role of Islamic boarding schools located on the coast, because in this coast there is generally a multi-cultural and religious side by side. As we know that coastal communities have a form of community patterns with their cultural context and the ability to preserve it in the midst of various waves of change through the process of acculturation and syncretization. This paper is intended to explain descriptively the analysis of what and how the patterns were formed. In short, that coastal Islamic education is one of the conditioning icons amid the multidimensional warming temperatures caused by the domain of the majority community - borrowing the term Geertz is - abangan.

Abstract

Modernism has become the pinnacle of a career from rationality that has made spectacular changes in various fields of life. But on the other hand, modernism must lose the foundation of religious spirituality, in which modern humans are increasingly losing their human status and identity. Postmodernism realizes that the modern dimension that emphasizes empirical and rational considerations is not sufficiently able to answer the existing dynamic problems of education. This paper examines education in an effort to deconstruct the philosophical foundation of modernism, to then consider the presence of postmodernism as part of a solution. Although for many, postmodernism is still seen as just a superficial and empty intellectual mode, reactionist reflection. However, on the diametric side, postmodernism is able to attract the attention of the wider community to leave the world of academia. Many of the educational practices unconsciously reflect the spirit of postmodernism, so it is worth fighting for.

Abstract

Knowledge is part of culture, while culture is the result of human activity in order to maintain life through the knowledge it acquires. Institutionalized education is a systematic and organized forum for knowledge, where the style of education reflects the socio-cultural conditions in which it develops. So there is a double movement between education and socio-culture that influence each other and there should be no domination of each other. From here, it appears that there is a dialectical relationship between education and sociocultural changes that have colored the history of human civilization from time totime. This paper is intended to describe the role of Islamic education in the context of Indonesia, which in its journey greatly influences the formation of socio-culture to this day. The big concern is that although globalization has become a necessity, the style of education in Indonesia should not be uprooted from the socio-cultural roots where it originates

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of religious leaders in fostering religious moderation in pesantren (Islamic boarding schools), including the strategies, methods, and challenges encountered during the mentoring process. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, with research subjects consisting of kiai, ustadz, pesantren administrators, and students. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation, and were subsequently analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive model, which includes data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusions. The findings indicate that religious leaders play a strategic role as educators, spiritual mentors, conflict mediators, and moral exemplars for students. The cultivation of religious moderation is carried out through exemplary behavior (uswah hasanah), teaching of classical Islamic texts (kitab kuning), dialogical discussions, thematic lectures, and social community activities. Religious leaders actively instill values of tasamuh (tolerance), tawazun (balance), tawasuth (moderation), and i’tidal (justice), enabling students to understand differences, appreciate diversity, and internalize a moderate attitude in their daily lives.
