Abstract

This research is motivated by problems based on empirical data that reveal that children's storytelling ability in terms of language has not developed. For example, children's language skills have not developed, especially in storytelling activities, they lack mastery of understanding, are not yet able to construct simple sentences, and are not yet able to understand the contents of the story being conveyed. In addition, learning still uses media that are less interesting to stimulate children's language skills. This study utilizes a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method. Bhakti Bunda Kindergarten is the location of this research. All children at Bhakti Bunda Kindergarten Padang are the research population. The sampling technique utilized was (purposive sampling), with 10 children in each group B2 and B3 who became the control and experimental classes, as research samples. The researcher used an oral test as a data collection method. Some techniques for data analysis are normality, homogeneity, and hypothesis tests. Considering data analysis, the average pre-test score of the experimental group was 16.2, while the average post-test score was 18.2. The control class had an average pre-test score of 14.7 and a post-test score of 15.6. The resulting data set had a normal and homogeneous distribution. The outcomes of the hypothesis testing indicated that animated videos had an influence on children's storytelling ability at Bhakti Bunda Padang Kindergarten, with a sig value (2-tailed) of 0.005 <0.05.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh video animsai Powtoon terhadap kemampuan menyimak anak usia 5-6 tahun di Tk Iqra’ Kota Padang. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain quasy eksperimen. Subjek penelitian penelitian berjumlah 20 anak yang terbagi dalam dua kelompok: B2 (10 anak) sebagai kelas eksperimen yang diberi perlakuan berupa video animasi Powtoon, dan kelas B1 (10 anak) sebagi kelas kontrol yang tidak diberi perlakuan. Instrumen pengumpulan data terdiri dari tujuh butir item dengan empat kategori penilaian, yaiti bb (1), MB (2), BSH (3), dan BSB (4). Analisis data diawali dengan uji normaliatas dan uji homogenitas untuk memastikan distribusi data kesamaan dan varians. Setelah dipastikan normal dan homogen, dilanjutkan dnegan uji hopotesi menggunakan paired smple t-test dan independen saple t-test. Hasil analisis menunjukan adanya peningkatan skor yang lebih tinggi pada kelompok eksperimen, yaitu rata-rata sebasar 70 poin, dibandingakan dengan kelompok kotrol yang mengalami kenaikan sebesar 55 poin. Tentunya ini menunjukkan bahwa video animasi Powtoon memberikan pengaruh positif terhadap peningkatan kemampuan menyimak anak usia dini. Dengan demikian, media pembelajaran berbasia video animasi Powtoon dapat menjadi altenatif yang efektif dalam peningkatan aspek perkembangan bahasa anak usia 5-6 tahun khususnya kemampuan menyimak.

Abstract

The low ability of symbolic thinking in children is marked by difficulties in connecting symbols with real objects, a lack of skills in expressing ideas symbolically, limited ability to recognize and categorize symbols, weak visual memory, slow understanding of directions and positions, and minimal creativity in creating their own symbols. This research aims to describe the application of the mind mapping method to improve the symbolic thinking abilities of 5–6-year-old children at the Nibras Padang Islamic Kindergarten. The research approach used is qualitative with a descriptive type. Data was collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects include class B teachers, the school principal, and students. The research results reveal that the implementation of the mind mapping method is carried out systematically, encompassing the stages of planning, execution, and evaluation. The teacher designs learning activities based on themes that are close to the children's lives, such as the theme 'My Vehicle', and utilizes visual media in the form of pictures, arrows, and symbols that help children connect concrete concepts with symbolic ones. In practice, children actively engage in creating mind maps with the teacher acting as a facilitator. The application of this method results in improved ability for children to recognize, understand, and communicate symbols in a more organized and creative manner. Thus, mind mapping has proven to be effective in developing the symbolic thinking skills of early childhood through enjoyable, visual-based learning that is suitable for their developmental stage.
