Abstract

This study aims to examine the application of theological approach in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) materials in Indonesia. The application of theology in PAI curriculum still tends to be limited to normative and ritualistic aspects, while the philosophical and reflective aspects of Islamic teachings are often neglected. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, this study analyzed curriculum documents, syllabi, and PAI textbooks used at the junior high school (SMP) and senior high school (SMA) levels. The results showed that PAI materials focus more on teaching memorization and the performance of worship without exploring the deep meaning of Islamic theological concepts such as tawhid, treatise, shariat, morals, and fiqh. The study also identified challenges in implementing the theological approach, including teachers' lack of understanding of Islamic theology and time constraints in the curriculum. Based on these findings, the study recommends the development of a more integrated curriculum, more in-depth teacher training and the application of more interactive learning methods to enable students to understand Islamic teachings critically and applicatively. This research is expected to contribute to improving the quality of Islamic religious education that is more in-depth and relevant to the challenges of the times

Abstract

Multicultural education emphasizes respect for cultural, religious, and ethnic diversity, which becomes very relevant in Indonesia as a country with rich plurality. In this context, the application of multicultural education theory, especially in Islamic Religious Education (PAI), has a strategic role in creating a more inclusive and harmonious society. This article aims to examine the theory of multicultural education according to Martin J. Beck Matustik, which consists of three main pillars: (1) recognition of diversity, (2) dialogue between cultures and religions, and (3) social justice. These pillars are very relevant to be integrated in the PAI curriculum, so as to form a generation that is not only intelligent in religious aspects, but also open, tolerant, and respectful of differences. The methodology used in this research is a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis, through a literature review that includes literature related to multicultural theory and its application in PAI. Data were also taken from PAI curriculum documents in Indonesia to explore the potential integration of multicultural values. The results showed that the application of multicultural education principles in PAI can encourage the creation of a more just and peaceful society, by producing individuals who are able to interact constructively and appreciate differences. Thus, Islamic religious education that promotes multicultural values is expected to be a solution to face the challenges of globalization and strengthen a more harmonious common life in Indonesia

Abstract

The development of information and communication technology (ICT) has brought significant changes to various aspects of life, including the field of education. One area that is directly affected is the learning assessment system, particularly in the subject of Islamic Religious Education (PAI). Digital-based PAI assessment has emerged as an innovative solution to address the demands of the times, which require efficiency, transparency, and accountability in evaluating learning outcomes. This article examines the theoretical and conceptual construction of digital-based PAI assessment, including its definition, implementation examples, and the challenges encountered. This study employs a qualitative approach through a literature review, with data collected from the latest relevant scientific literature, both national and international. The findings indicate that digitalization in PAI assessment can enhance the effectiveness of learning data collection, provide real-time feedback to students, and support a more adaptive and personalized learning approach. Commonly used platforms include Google Forms, Quizizz, Moodle, and other Learning Management Systems (LMS). Although it offers many advantages, several obstacles remain, such as limited technological infrastructure, low digital literacy among teachers and students, and resistance to shifting from traditional evaluation methods. Therefore, educational policy support is needed to ensure continuous teacher training, adequate technological facilities, and a curriculum that adapts to technological developments.
