Abstract

Purpose: This research can explain the relationship between nurses' caring behavior and the anxiety level of patients and their families in the Intensive Care Unit Method: The method used is a literature review. The procedure for searching and selecting articles was based on Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews & Meta-Analyses (PRISMA), so four articles were obtained for analysis in the database used in this study, namely Google Scholar, which was limited to publication in the last five years from 2018 to 2023, full-text articles in English. English and Indonesian. Results: The review results of the four articles stated that the analysis of the Univariate and Bivariate statistical tests explained a correlation between respondents' perceptions of nurse caring and the level of anxiety in patients and families with a P value <0.05. Discussion: Nurses providing nursing care are able to provide care with affection, understanding, problem-solving, giving support, giving appreciation, giving attention, and communication which can provide a sense of security and comfort for patients and their families. The existence of sufficient caring behavior from nurses will minimize the incidence of anxiety. Abstract

Stroke patients with dysphagia require proper initial screening so as not to cause severe complications. More optimal efforts are needed to improve swallowing ability to avoid complications. Swallowing exercises combined with Benson Relaxation and Aromatherapy are expected to provide better results in increasing the swallowing ability score of stroke patients with dysphagia. This study aims to determine the effect of the combination of Swallowing Exercise with Benson Relaxation and Aromatherapy on the swallowing ability of stroke patients. This type of research is a quasi-experimental pre and post-test. Researchers intervened in two groups of respondents. One group intervened with a combination of swallowing exercises with Benson relaxation, and one group combined swallowing exercises with aromatherapy. The sampling technique was consecutive sampling. The number of samples was 44 people: 20 people in Intervention Group I and 25 in Intervention Group II. Statistical analysis used a dependent t-test (paired t-test) to test the difference in the average score of swallowing ability before and after the intervention and an independent t-test to test the difference in the average score after the intervention in intervention groups I and II. This research showed a significant difference in the average score of swallowing ability before and after the intervention in the intervention group I and II, and there is no difference in the average score of swallowing ability after the intervention in the intervention group I and II. Swallowing exercise combined with Benson relaxation and aromatherapy can improve the swallowing ability score of dysphagia patients due to stroke.

Abstract

Introduction: This research aims to see the effect of modifying Melodic Intonation Therapy (MIT) and Dhikr Asmaul Husna in audio form on the speaking ability of stroke patients. Aphasia is a disability problem experienced by stroke patients and can become persistent, reducing their quality of life. Efforts are needed to improve speaking ability so patients can continuously and independently carry out post-stroke speech exercises at home. The results showed that MIT gave better results in improving the speech ability of stroke patients. In the MIT method, patients repeat words spoken by nurses or family members using musical elements while speaking. Methods: This type of research is quantitative with a quasi-experimental design pre and post-test. Researchers carry out interventions using media in the form of Melodic Intonation Therapy Audio (MIT-A), which results from research development. This study's population is stroke patients treated at Dr. Soekardjo Tasikmalaya Hospital, Prasetya Bunda Hospital, and Banjar City Hospital. The sample consisted of 33 respondents from three Tasikmalaya and Banjar City hospitals. Exercises start when the patient is treated and continue to be done at home. Speech ability was evaluated using the TADIR method (Aphasia Test for Diagnostics and Rehabilitation), assessed before the intervention and at the first control visit. The intervention was carried out for one month. The hypothesis in this study is that there is a difference in the average score of speech ability before and after the intervention. The t-dependent test tests the difference in TADIR scores before and after training. Results: The study showed a difference in the average TADIR score before and after training (p-value 0.000). This indicates that speech training using MIT-Audio has a significant effect on the speaking ability of stroke patients. Conclusion: The results of this study conclude that speech training through modified MIT in audio form improves the speaking ability of stroke patients who experience aphasia. The researcher recommends that future researchers apply this speech training media by differentiating the type of aphasia experienced by the patient.

Abstract

Thalassemia is a genetic disorder of the synthesis of alpha or beta globin chains, either in whole or in part. Families who care for children with thalassemia will experience psychosocial problems. Ignorance is the reason why families find it difficult to adapt. Therefore, it is necessary to provide knowledge and the ability to adapt to stressors so that family coping is positive. This study aims to determine the effect of Family Psychoeducation on parents' coping strategies in caring for children with thalassemia. The research design used a "Quasi experiment pre-post-test with a control group." The purposive sampling technique was used with a sample of 44 people divided into two groups. The instrument used is Brief COPE. The results showed that in the intervention group, there was a significant difference in the average score with a p-value of 0.000. Meanwhile, in the control group, there was no significant difference in the average score with a p-value of 0.492. There is a difference in the average score between the intervention group and the control group, with a p-value of 0.023. In conclusion, there is an influence of family psychoeducation on parents' coping strategies in caring for children with thalassemia.
