Abstract

The downstreaming of zakat in the agricultural sector (agricultural zakat) is one of the strategic efforts to increase people's income, especially farmers, while encouraging sharia-based economic independence. Agricultural zakat has great potential in supporting the optimal management of agricultural products through the appropriate distribution of zakat, but its implementation still faces various challenges such as low understanding of farmers, ineffective distribution, and lack of innovation in the management of zakat results. This study aims to analyse the downstream potential of agricultural zakat as a basis for increasing community income, especially among small and medium farmers. This study also evaluates the effectiveness of agricultural zakat management in encouraging farmers' productivity and welfare. Data was collected through mixed-method which includes in-depth interviews, field observations, and secondary data analysis from reports of zakat institutions and related institutions. The results show that the downstreaming of agricultural zakat can increase community income through various empowerment programmes, such as the provision of farming capital, training on modern cultivation techniques, and opening market access for agricultural products. In addition, the synergy between zakat institutions, government, and local communities is a key factor in the success of this programme. In conclusion, the downstreaming of agricultural zakat has great potential to support sharia-based community economic empowerment. However, a stronger regulatory framework and cross-sector collaboration are needed for optimal and sustainable implementation.

Abstract

Background: The global halal industry is undergoing a paradigm shift driven by evolving Muslim consumer behaviors that increasingly intersect with sustainability and digital transformation. Despite its growth, a significant gap persists between conventional sharia compliance and modern expectations for ethical transparency. Objective: This study aims to identify shifting patterns in Muslim consumer behavior, analyze the gap between consumer expectations and industry capacity, and formulate adaptive strategies—specifically focusing on digitalization and regulatory harmonization within the ASEAN context. Methodology: A qualitative approach was employed, integrating a comprehensive literature review with in-depth, semi-structured interviews with 25 key informants. Participants included Muslim consumers (aged 18–45) from Indonesia, Malaysia, the UK, and Japan, alongside industry actors and policymakers. Data were analyzed using thematic content analysis to capture nuanced perspectives on halal-ṭayyib and global business ethics. Findings: The results reveal three critical dimensions for the industry’s future: (1) a shift in consumer demand toward halal-ṭayyib, encompassing quality and global ethical standards; (2) the pivotal role of digital technologies, such as Blockchain and IoT, in enhancing supply chain traceability; and (3) the urgent need for international regulatory harmonization, exemplified by the proposed Halal Industry Administration (HIA) in the Philippines. Conclusion: This study contributes to theoretical discourse by integrating Islamic consumption patterns with Institutional Theory and sustainability frameworks. It asserts that halal governance is a multidimensional construct in which Sharia integrity must align with global ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the demand factors for Indonesian nickel exports in Europe. Regarding the formulation of the problem in this study, what are the factors for the demand for Indonesian nickel by Europe. Although the research method used is qualitative. Based on the results of this study it can be concluded that Nickel is a silvery-white hard metal with a slight luster of gold pattern. Nickel itself is a metal that is strong, dense, durable, heat and corrosion resistant. In addition, nickel is also a metal with good conductors of electricity and heat and one of the four very important metal elements because this metal is ferromagnetic or can be said to be easily magnetized at certain room temperatures. Therefore, nickel has a variety of uses that can be utilized in a variety of products. One of them is the raw material for making cables. Nickel is a scarce natural resource, therefore countries that do not have this natural resource must import it from producing countries. At the same time, producing countries must ensure that there are no shortages.
