Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of providing a combination of natural feed maggots and pellets on the growth performance of Nile Tilapia and to ratio between maggots and pellets that promote growth of Nile Tilapia. The research was conducted from June to August 2020. The research method was using a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 3 replications with the following treatments: treatment A = 100% pellets, treatment B = 75% pellets and 25% maggots, treatment C = 50% pellets and 50% maggot, treatment D = 25% pellets and 75% maggot, treatment E = 100% maggot. The test fish used Nile Tilapia fingerling with average weighing 4 g / fish with density of 5 fish / container and maintained for 21 days. The containers used in this study were 15 plastic trays with a diameter of 40 cm and a height of 20 cm each with a water capacity of 15 liters. Growth performance data were Weight gain (WG), Specific growth rate (SGR), relative growth rate (SGR), feed convertion rate (FCR) and feed intake (FI). Based on the results of this study, it shows that the use of a combination of pellet and maggot feed as Nile tilapia juvenile has an effect on the growth performance of Nile tilapia so that maggot can be used as an alternative feed that has high nutritional content for tilapia fish cultivation. The treatment that gave the best growth effect on tilapia seeds was found at the dose of a combination of 50% pellet feed + 50% maggot, with Weight gain (5.5±1.1g), SGR (3.7±0.5%), RGR (139.4±53.4) and FCR (1.2±0.2)

Abstract

The purposes of research were to examine the effect of extract of Acalypha indica leaf on the growth of Nile tilapia and determine the dose of leaf extract that could enhance the growth of tilapia optimally. The fish used were Nile tilapia taken from the Tatelu Center for Freshwater Aquaculture with an average weight of 3.79±0.50 g. The medicinal plant A. indica was collected from around the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science complex and from the North Bolaang Mongondow area. After being washed, the leaves were dried and then ground to obtain leaf powder. Leaf flour was then extracted by maceration method with 95% alcohol solvent. After being concentrated, the extract was then used as a treatment with different concentrations, including A: 0 g extract/kg feed, B:10 g extract/kg feed, C:20 g extract/kg feed, D:30 g extract/kg feed and E: 40g extract/kg feed. The data collected consisted of absolute growth, daily growth and relative growth. The results showed that the extract of A. indica leaf added to the feed had a significantly effect on the growth of tilapia indicated by an increase in absolute growth, daily growth, and relative growth (p<0.05). The best fish growth was achieved in fish fed with feed with the addition of 20 g extract/kg feed. In conclusion, leaf extract of A. indica can increase the growth of Nile tilapia

Abstract

This study aims to identify phytoplankton species, calculate phytoplankton abundance, diversity index, uniformity index, phytoplankton dominance index, and determine environmental conditions such as temperature, pH, salinity, nitrate, and phosphate in the seagrass ecosystem of Nain Island Waters. Sampling includes seawater for the needs of phytoplankton identification measurement of nitrate and phosphate levels and measurement of water parameters in situ. Phytoplankton sampling is done horizontally using a plankton net. Phytoplankton identification found in the seagrass ecosystem of Nain Island Waters consisted of four classes, namely Bacillariophyceae (Rhizosolenia sp.; Nitzschia sp.; Chaetoceros sp.; Navicula sp.; Eucampi sp.; Pleurosigma sp.; Thalassionema sp.; Melosira sp.), Dinophyceae (Ceratium sp.; Protoperidinium sp.), Chlorophyceae (Spirogyra sp.), and Euglenophyceae (Euglena sp.). The calculation of phytoplankton abundance is in the range of 9 - 51 cells/l. The highest abundance was found at station one which was 51 cells/l, then station three which was 21 cells/l, and station two which was 9 cells//I. The diversity index is in the range of 0.8749 - 1.8668 which means there is community instability. The uniformity index is in the range of 0.2226 - 0.8460, while the dominance index is in the range of 0.2060 - 0.6093, this indicates that the water conditions are stable. Environmental conditions (temperature, salinity, pH, nitrate, and phosphate) in the seagrass ecosystem of Nain Island Waters are still quite good for phytoplankton growth. Keywords: Phytoplankton, Seagrass, Nain Island, Abundance, Biological Index Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk identifikasi jenis-jenis fitoplankton, menghitung kelimpahan fitoplankton, indeks keanekaragaman, indeks keseragaman, indeks dominasi fitoplankton dan mengetahui kondisi lingkungan seperti suhu, pH, salinitas, nitrat, dan fosfat di ekosistem padang lamun Perairan Pulau Nain. Abstract

The research purposes were to determine the best initial weight of Caulerpa lentillifera algae, determine the appropriate cultural operational depth for the best growth of C.lentillifera algae, and determine the interaction between the initial weight factor of C.lentillifera algae and the depth factor of growth. This research was carried out from May to July 2023. The C. lentillifera algae in this research were obtained from nature. C.lentillifera algae culture is carried out using the verticulture method, namely tying the algae to strings arranged in a row. This research was designed using a 3x3 factorial in a Completely Randomized Design (RAL). There are 2 factors tested in this experiment, each of which has 3 levels, namely: the weight factor of C. lentillifera algae which consists of: A1 = 50 grams, A2 = 100 grams and A3 = 150 grams, and the depth factor which consists of: B1 = 20 cm, B2 = 70 cm and B3 = 120 cm. The results obtained from this research are that differences in the growth of C. lentillifera algae are very significantly influenced by differences in the initial weight of different. The best absolute growth, relative growth, and daily growth rate were initial C. lentillifera algae weights of 50 grams, which respectively had the highest average values of 24.3 grams, 16.2%, and 1.4%. Differences in depth had no significant influence on differences in absolute growth, relative growth, and daily growth rate of the algae C. lentillifera. The results of variance analysis showed that the influence of the weight factor of C. lentillifera on absolute growth, relative growth, and daily growth rate did not change significantly when the depth factor level was changed.
