Abstract

Wheelchairs are a vital aid for individuals with limited mobility, allowing them to remain active and independent. Although various models of wheelchairs are available on the market, challenges in ensuring comfort, safety and efficiency of use still exist. Therefore, designing and developing better wheelchairs is an urgent need to improve the quality of life and mobility of users. This research aims to determine important factors in designing optimal wheelchairs for the elderly and to disseminate the principles of wheelchair design. The final result of the brainstorming resulted in safe and comfortable wheelchair product specifications, including galvanized iron or chrome-plated black iron, foam and synthetic leather backrests, synthetic leather seats, as well as additional features such as airless tires, plastic-coated brakes, and foldable footrest

Abstract

This research aims to redesign a wheelchair to enhance comfort and safety based on the ergonomic needs of users through a holistic ergonomic approach. The study employs the FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) method to identify product failures in wheelchairs and determine preventive measures using the Risk Priority Number (RPN), calculated from Severity (S), Occurrence (O), and Detection (D). A biomechanical assessment using REBA (Rapid Entire Body Assessment) evaluates the posture and movements of wheelchair users and identifies factors contributing to ergonomic risks. The FMEA analysis revealed three failure modes with the highest RPN values: "head drooping" (192), "hands hitting the wheels" (120), and "feet drooping" (112). The REBA assessment indicated a final score of 9, signifying a high risk of injury, necessitating immediate corrective actions. In response to the findings from FMEA and REBA, a new wheelchair design is proposed, incorporating features such as neck support, a hydraulic system for the back, and calf supports. Additionally, the wheelchair dimensions will be adjusted based on the users' anthropometric measurements to ensure better ergonomics.

Abstract

Crowdfunding is one of the alternative sources of finance for product-based startups. Products are funded if the campaign is considered to be successful in reaching the target. The assessment of the success rate of product campaigns develops into three successive levels, namely overfunding, successful and unsuccessful. Due to the complication of setting up a product campaign on an online crowdfunding platform, a mobile application to aid campaigners needs to be developed. Moreover, it is essential to evaluate its ease to use. This study aims to (1) develop an android-based application, (2) evaluate the usability of the application based on user perceptions. The application ('POSCA') was developed by emphasizing user experience (UX), while the Use Questionnaire evaluated its usability. Ten participants were invited to evaluate the system usability and interface. The results suggest that 'POSCA' has good scores of usability: ‘efficiency’ = 49.11% in the fifth trial, ‘very-easy-to-learn’ (95%), ‘useful’ (85%), ‘easy-to-use’ (87%), and ‘satisfy-the-users’ (88%).

Abstract

Augmented Reality (AR) is a technology that enables the integration of digital elements into the real world, creating more immersive and interactive learning experiences. In a study conducted at a local kindergarten, traditional storytelling methods often caused children to lose focus, particularly when the stories lacked engaging visual elements. In contrast, by using AR, stories such as the adventure of a cat could be brought to life through interactive 3D animations, allowing children not only to listen but also to interact with the characters. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of AR in enhancing storytelling and supporting the cognitive development of young children. A mixed-method approach was employed, comparing two groups: a control group using traditional methods and an experimental group using an AR application. Quantitative data were collected through pre- and post-tests, while qualitative data were obtained from direct observations and interviews with teachers and parents. The results revealed that the experimental group recorded a 32.10\% increase in post-test scores, significantly higher than the 7.34% increase in the control group. Furthermore, AR improved children’s engagement, enthusiasm, and collaboration during storytelling sessions. In conclusion, AR demonstrates considerable potential in supporting early childhood education by creating more engaging and inclusive learning experiences, although challenges such as technology accessibility and the availability of appropriate content still need to be addressed.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of work-life balance and hybrid systems on employee work productivity. The background of this research is based on the phenomenon of changes in work systems after the pandemic and the increasing need for work-life balance. A quantitative approach was employed using a survey method involving 228 respondents working under a hybrid system. Data were collected through Likert-scale questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results indicate that work-life balance and the hybrid system have a significant effect both partially and simultaneously on work productivity. The t-test results show significant values for both variables (X1 and X2), while the F-test demonstrates a strong simultaneous influence on the dependent variable. The coefficient of determination (R²) value of 0.453 indicates that 45.3% of the variability in work productivity can be explained by these two variables. The study concludes that implementing good work-life balance and a flexible hybrid system can enhance employee work effectiveness and efficiency. These findings are expected to serve as input for companies in formulating work policies that support sustainable well-being and productivity.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of Lean Management in improving service performance at the Student Service Center of Universitas Bina Darma. The service problems include long waiting times, queue congestion, and the absence of clear task distribution among staff, which potentially leads to process waste and reduced service quality. The study employed a descriptive quantitative approach integrating three methods: SERVQUAL to measure student satisfaction (363 respondents), Kaizen to assess employee performance (5 staff members), and time study to analyze process efficiency and waste. Data were analyzed using satisfaction gap calculation, performance indicator assessment, standard time measurement, and classification of value-added and non-value-added activities. The results show that the empathy and assurance dimensions have positive gaps, while responsiveness shows a negative gap indicating low service speed. Standardization and just in time are categorized as high, whereas waste elimination and employee involvement remain low. Although operator capacity is sufficient, the lack of task distribution causes queues and dominant waiting waste as well as non-value-added activities. Therefore, Lean Management improves service performance, but optimization requires workflow restructuring, process digitalization, and increased employee involvement in continuous improvement.

Abstract

Digital transformation in higher education has accelerated the integration of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems with Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance service quality and user loyalty. However, empirical studies examining the combined effects of service personalization, response speed, and interaction automation on user loyalty within higher education remain limited. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of AI-based CRM implementation in the Career Center website of Universitas Bina Darma. A quantitative approach was employed using survey data collected from 215 respondents. Multiple linear regression analysis was conducted to examine the effects of Service Personalization (X1), Response Speed (X2), and Interaction Automation (X3) on User Loyalty (Y). The results indicate that all variables have a positive and significant effect on user loyalty (p < 0.05). Service personalization emerged as the most dominant factor (β = 0.413), followed by interaction automation (β = 0.265) and response speed (β = 0.231). The model demonstrates moderate explanatory power with an R² of 0.267 and an Adjusted R² of 0.257. These findings suggest that in the higher education context, AI-driven personalization and adaptive service delivery play a more critical role in fostering user loyalty than mere technical efficiency. Practically, the study recommends prioritizing data-driven personalization strategies in developing AI-based CRM systems in universities.
