Abstract

The Natar geothermal field is located in Natar District, which is approximately 10 km north of Bandar Lampung, Lampung Province. This geothermal area is unique because the manifestation of hot springs that appear on the surface is in a relatively flat area. Geological observations on outcrops to determine the geological structure that control the hot springs are difficult to carry out due to limited rock outcrops, so geophysical methods are needed to interpret subsurface conditions such as gravity methods. The geology of the study area is covered by Lampung Formation consists of pyroclastic - volcaniclastic rocks with thickness reaching 200 m. The result of gravity data processing shows the value of Bouguer anomaly which ranges from 51.0 to 62.6 mGal. The interpretation of Bouguer's anomaly data shows five fault structures predominate northwest-southeast and north-south trend, which act as the water path discharge. This trend indicates that the geological structure in the study area is still related to the Great Sumatran Fault, which is also trending northwest-southeast. The 2D subsurface modeling is conducted by using Oasis Montaj software 8.4 produces three layers of rock density, namely a layer associated to the Lampung Formation with density of 1.9 g / cm3, and two layer basements with densities of 2.54 g / cm3 and 2.76 g / cm3 respectively, forming horst and graben like structures in the study area. Exploration drilling for further research is recommended to the west of the hot springs to confirm the subsurface model.

Abstract

This study reports chemical and isotope data from thermal water samples collected in the Natar area (back-arc Lampung province), Indonesia. Based on the geologic map, Lampung-Panjang Fault is the source of this thermal water appearance with Quaternary volcanic and metamorphic rock in the basement. It is located close to the Quaternary extinct volcano (Mount Betung) around 20 km to the southwest. Therefore, this study aims to provide information on geochemical characteristics and the origin of thermal waters in Natar's non-volcanic area. Variables such as stable isotopes, major, and Li/Cl ratios were analyzed. Furthermore, the thermal waters collected from a well in a different location have a moderate temperature ranging from 47°C to 54°C with 6.23 pH. Lithium and Chloride concentrations as well as Isotope δ18O and δD ranges from 0.02 mg/L to 0.04 mg/L, 5.19 mg/L to 46.12 mg/L, -5.26 ‰ to -2.65 ‰, and -5.26 ‰ to -2.65 ‰, respectively. The stable isotope showed that the thermal water samples have a shift value of ó18O similar to hydrothermal water. The result also has a positive correlation with the distribution of the Li/Cl ratio plotted close to the magmatic water. Consequently, the Natar hot springs may have formed due to the magmatic process of Mount Betung Quaternary with a lower temperature than an active volcano.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the government's disaster mitigation communication in this case the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of west Java Province in the face of earthquakes caused by the Lembang fault. This research was conducted using qualitative research method. The research approach is a case study, using Haddow's theory of disaster communication strategy. As the subject of his research is the Regional Disaster Management Agency of West Java Province (BPBD Jabar). This research data was obtained through in-depth interviews and Library studies. The results showed that disaster mitigation communication conducted by the Regional Disaster Management Agency of West Java Province (BPBD Jabar) has not been carried out to the maximum because it is not a top priority so it does not have a clear pattern in disaster mitigation communication, although it has held mitigation programs such as: 1. Socialization of disaster risk areas 2. Disaster response training 3. Installation of Road Maps and Evacuation Signs assisted by the community / disaster volunteers. 4. Create educational media for school children (video animation). 5. establish a disaster preparedness village. These programs have not been conducted intensively plus BPBD Jabar itself does not have a disaster mitigation communication team that focuses on providing understanding to the community regarding the risk of earthquake disasters due to the fault of lembang.

Abstract

According to the Ministry of Social Affairs, the provinces in Indonesia are very prone to disasters. This is due to the geographical location, topographical conditions, climatic conditions, but the terrain, demographic factors, and socio-economic conditions of the people who are prone to disasters. There needs to be a communication process as a social radar that can provide news to other parties as disaster risk reduction. This study aims to be able to analyze the communication patterns of disaster mitigation carried out by the West Java Provincial Social Service in preparing for disaster preparedness and to find out the barriers to disaster mitigation communication, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. The research was conducted using qualitative descriptive methods such as observations and interviews. The results showed that the West Java Social Service had a disaster mitigation communication pattern based on the Main Tasks of Disaster Management and it was formulated in the form of the TAGANA (Disaster Alert) program for Disaster Alert Village (KSB), TAGANA Entering School, and Planting Mangrove Trees. The implementation of disaster mitigation programs during the Covid-19 pandemic follows health protocols such as distributing masks, checking body temperature, washing hands, and maintaining distance. Semantic barriers become obstacles that hinder disaster mitigation.

Abstract

Abstract This service aims to empower the youth of Karang Taruna in Lembang sub-district, especially village residents in Lembang sub-district, West Bandung Regency, in increasing their ability to mitigate earthquake disasters. The M 5.6 earthquake that rocked Cianjur Regency, West Java (West Java), killing hundreds of victims and damaging buildings, is a reminder to the Greater Bandung area, especially the Lembang sub-district, West Bandung Regency, about the existence of the Lembang fault. Because there are still village residents who do not have high awareness of the dangers of the Lembang fault, especially since these residents live in areas prone to disasters, especially earthquakes. Based on this, the Community Service Team of the Pasundan University Communication Studies Program took the initiative to carry out service with the theme Optimizing Disaster Mitigation of Karang Taruna throughout Lembang District together with Lembang Disaster Management Volunteers (RPBL) and Lembang Village Residents. The choice of location cannot be separated from the location which is an earthquake-prone area. The methods used in this training are providing material, lectures, discussions and simulations. The problem that partners have is the lack of knowledge, awareness and ability of the Lembang sub-district village community regarding the dangers of disasters considering the existence of disaster-vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly and people with disabilities. In this service activity, a contextual approach method is used, namely providing educational material and disaster outreach (Awareness) first and followed by carrying out disaster simulations and training (Preparedness). Responding to every Disaster and Post-Disaster incident (Response). Then proceed with carrying out disaster risk reduction efforts (Mitigation). After the activities were carried out, the community service team together with Karang Taruna initiated the formation of a Disaster Resilient Karang Taruna forum as a forum for youth and village residents to be ready and resilient in facing disasters. Then, the results of the assessment by the community service team need to create a sustainable program regarding the optimization of disaster mitigation. Keywords: Capacity Building, Disaster Mitigation, Earthquake, Karang Taruna, Lembang Fault. Abstract

Kota Baru, a potential capital of Lampung Province in South Lampung, Indonesia, faces significant earthquake risks due to the Great Sumatran Fault and the Sumatra Megathrust. Geologically, the area is part of the Plio-Pleistocene Lampung Formation, predominantly composed of rhyolite-dacite tuff and volcanoclastic tuff, which can amplify seismic shaking. This study investigates azimuthal variations in the Horizontal-to-Vertical Spectral Ratio (HVSR) across 15 locations in Kota Baru to identify their underlying causes. The results show notable changes in peak amplitude (Ao) and dominant frequency (fo) across different azimuths, with Mean Absolute Deviations (MAD) ranging from 0.96 to 5.71 for Ao and from 0.00 to 1.57 for fo. Maximum HVSR values were predominantly observed at azimuths below 30° across most regions. These variations are likely related to differences in soft layer thickness and/or the presence of a suspected fault near the study area, both of which could influence seismic wave propagation. A model of an 8.9-magnitude megathrust earthquake revealed no significant differences in Ground Shear Strain values, with results remaining within the same Modified Mercalli Intensity (MMI) scale. Therefore, despite azimuthal variability, the assumption of isotropic ambient noise in Kota Baru remains valid.

Abstract

In this study, the researchers measured cicadas' sound waves, considering that cicadas are mostly found in rural areas. The intensity level meter (AMTAST AMF003) was used with time variations (9:00 JST; 12:00 JST; and 15:00 JST). Measurements of air temperature differences (Krisbow Temperature & Humidity Data Logger) were also carried out, and weather conditions were also considered in data collection using satellite data from Himawari, Japan. The interpretation results of intensity level's trend measured at 3:00 pm JST were decreased concerning the changes in days. Meanwhile, the measurement at 09:00 am and 12:00 pm JST did not show a decrement concerning the changes in days (31 days in total). These results show that temperature changes (towards autumn) can affect the intensity level of sound waves. In addition, slightly different intensity levels can affect large changes in acoustic power or the produced sound.
