Abstract

This community empowerment aims at improving skills of and intensifying scientific writing and publication for teachers under the auspices of the Ki Hajar Dewantara KKG, Purwanegara, Banjarnegara. Difficulty of publication triggered by a lack of motivation, was given a solution in the form of encouraging teachers to restart their scientific writing activities. The enthusiasm given was accompanied by the provision of motivation about the importance of writing skills for a teacher and its benefits for various parties. Furthermore, the problem of difficulties for teachers to publish due to lack of ability and skills to write scientific papers was given a solution in the form of training: facilitation-based action learning model. Based on the series of activities, it was concluded that efforts to motivate the participating teachers to write scientific papers showed good results. The teacher's enthusiasm and willingness to write scientific papers deserves to be appreciated. Furthermore, the teacher's skills in writing scientific papers showed good results as well. However, this activity has not succeeded in publishing participants' scientific papers in scientific journals. Suggestions given are those related to implementation time management, provision of materials for writing scientific papers and their practice, as well as methods of writing assistance. AbstrakKegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan dan menggiatkan kegiatan menulis karya ilmiah dan publikasinya bagi guru, yang bernaung di KKG Ki Hajar Dewantara, kecamatan Purwanegara, kabupaten Banjarnegara. Kesulitan publikasi yang dipicu oleh kurangnya motivasi, diberi solusi berupa pemberian semangat kepada guru untuk memulai kembali aktivitas menulis karya ilmiahnya. Semangat yang diberikan diiringkan dengan pemberian motivasi tentang pentingnya keterampilan menulis bagi seorang guru dan manfaatnya untuk berbagai pihak dalam dunia Pendidikan. Selanjutnya, permasalahan kesulitan guru untuk melakukan publikasi yang disebabkan oleh minimnya kemampuan dan keterampilan menulis karya ilmiah diberi solusi dalam ujud pelatihan. Pelatihan yang diadakan adalah model action learning berbasis fasilitasi. Berdasarkan rangkaian kegiatan pengabdian disimpulkan bahwa upaya memotivasi guru-guru peserta kegiatan untuk menulis karya ilmiah menunjukkan hasil yang baik. Semangat dan kemauan guru untuk menulis karya ilmiah layak untuk diapresiasi. Selanjutnya, keterampilan guru dalam menulis karya ilmiah menunjukkan hasil yang baik pula. Namun demikian, dari kegiatan pengabdian ini belum berhasil mempublikasikan karya ilmiah peserta di jurnal-jurnal ilmiah. Saran yang diberikan untuk pelaksanaan kegiatan lain di kesempatan yang berbeda adalah yang terkait dengan manajemen waktu pelaksanaan, pemberian materi yang terkait dengan prosedur menulis karya ilmiah dan prakteknya, serta metode pendampingan penulisan.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of technology-enhanced learning (TEL) in improving students’ statistical graph interpretation skills through a rigorous Item Response Theory (IRT) analysis. Employing a quasi-experimental pretest–posttest control group design, the research involved 120 undergraduate students from four classes, equally divided into experimental and control groups. The experimental groups received TEL-based instruction featuring interactive graph visualizations and automated feedback, while the control groups followed conventional lectures and exercises over seven sessions. Data were collected using a 60-item multiple-choice test covering bar charts, histograms, boxplots, and scatterplots, which was content-validated by experts and trialed for clarity, yielding high reliability (Cronbach’s α = 0.833). Construct validity was ensured through unidimensionality and invariance testing, confirmed by eigenvalue and DETECT analysis. Data analysis applied IRT to calibrate item parameters discrimination (a), difficulty (b), and guessing (c) and to estimate students’ latent abilities (θ). Model comparison identified the 3PL model as the best fit, capturing both difficulty variation and guessing behavior. Calibration results showed that most items exhibited satisfactory psychometric quality, supporting the robustness of the instrument. Findings revealed that TEL groups achieved a nearly one-logit gain in ability from pretest to posttest, significantly higher than the minimal improvement observed in the control groups, as confirmed by independent t-tests and normalized gain analysis. These results indicate that TEL substantially strengthens students’ ability to interpret statistical graphs while demonstrating the diagnostic value of IRT in evaluating both item quality and learning effectiveness.

Abstract

Excessive exposure to X-ray radiation can be harmful to human health; therefore, it is important to regularly monitor its intensity, especially in laboratories equipped with ionizing radiation facilities. This research aims to develop an X-ray radiation monitoring system designed to measure radiation levels in the Material Characterization Unit of the Physics Laboratory at Universitas Negeri Semarang. The research method refers to the prototype model, which consists of several stages: communication, quick planning, quick design modeling, and prototype construction. This monitoring system is essential due to the presence of an X-Ray Diffractometer (XRD) machine, which serves as a source of ionizing radiation.The developed system consists of an X-ray radiation detector integrated with an ESP32 microcontroller that transmits data to a cloud server via a Wi-Fi protocol. The radiation detector used in this monitoring system is a Geiger-Müller counter. The measured radiation data can also be displayed on an OLED 128x64 screen. Data acquisition is recorded online using the Google Sheets Application Programming Interface (API), enabling real-time data logging. Experimental results of radiation measurements inside the XRD unit show a radiation dose of 319.2 µSv at a distance of 30 cm from the tube at an angle of 30°, while environmental radiation measurements indicate a dose of 0.815 µSv. The monitoring system’s measurements were compared with those obtained from a standard survey meter, Ludlum Model 3. The results demonstrate that the developed system is capable of measuring X-ray radiation in real-time and can be effectively used for X-ray radiation monitoring.

Abstract

Four Point Probe (FPP) merupakan alat karakterisasi sifat kelistrikan material yang digunakan di Laboratorium Fisika Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES). Penggunaan FPP belum didukung oleh buku panduan pengoperasian yang sistematis, sehingga mahasiswa mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami prinsip kerja dan prosedur pengukuran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan buku panduan pengoperasian alat Four Point Probe berbasis model ADDIE yang praktis, informatif, dan mudah dipahami. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian dan pengembangan (Research and Development) yang meliputi tahapan analisis, desain, pengembangan, implementasi, dan evaluasi. Hasil analisis kebutuhan menunjukkan bahwa 86% mahasiswa memerlukan panduan pengoperasian FPP. Uji validitas oleh ahli materi, bahasa, dan media memperoleh skor rata-rata 79 dengan kategori valid, sedangkan uji kelayakan oleh mahasiswa memperoleh skor rata-rata 75 dengan kategori layak. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa buku panduan yang dikembangkan memenuhi standar kualitas isi dan penyajian serta memiliki tingkat keberterimaan yang baik di kalangan mahasiswa. Pengembangan buku panduan pengoperasian FPP diharapkan dapat mendukung pembelajaran dan penelitian dalam bidang karakterisasi material khususnya film tipis.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan di Sekolah Indonesia Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, dengan tujuan mengatasi permasalahan pengelolaan sampah daun yang selama ini dibersihkan melalui pembakaran dan penimbunan, yang berpotensi menimbulkan pencemaran udara. Selain itu, guru dan siswa belum memiliki kemampuan dalam mengolah sampah organik menjadi kompos serta belum memiliki jiwa kewirausahaan untuk memasarkan produk secara digital. Program ini mengusung pendekatan model P4-E (Pelatihan, Praktik, Pemasaran, dan Evaluasi) melalui kegiatan pelatihan dan pendampingan bagi guru sebagai agent of change serta siswa sebagai pelaku utama implementasi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan kompetensi signifikan pada aspek kognitif, psikomotorik, dan afektif. Indikator tertinggi dicapai pada kemampuan promosi melalui media sosial (93%) dan identifikasi bahan kompos (83%), sedangkan terendah pada akuntansi sederhana (53%). Produk nyata berupa kompos organik berlabel sekolah berhasil diproduksi dan dipasarkan secara daring. Program ini terbukti efektif menumbuhkan kesadaran lingkungan, keterampilan teknis, dan semangat green entrepreneurship, sehingga layak dijadikan model pemberdayaan berbasis sekolah yang berkelanjutan.
