Abstract

Dampar Beach is one of the area in Lumajang which has abundant fisheries resources and lobster is one of export commodities. Nowadays, increased trade and local market demand led to an increase in lobster sales and will lead to a decrease in lobster stocks. Therefore, a sustainability analysis is needed in managing these fishery resources. This study aims to determine the level of sustainability of lobster fisheries in Dampar Beach, Lumajang in four dimensions, i.e. economic, social, ecological, and technological dimension. The sustainable management strategy of lobster fisheries also determined and discussed. The research method for the analysis of sustainability status uses RAPFISH (Rapid Appraisal for Fisheries Sustainability). This type of research uses a descriptive method with a quantitative approach. The results showed that the sustainability index value of the economic and technology dimension are 39.29% and 48.79%, respectively (less sustainable). The social and ecological dimension are 60.44% and 50.72%, respectively (enough sustainable). The strategies for lobster fisheries at Dampar Beach, Lumajang should focus more on attributes that have high leverage, especially on the social, economy, and ecology dimensions. The utilization of lobster resources in a sustainable manner is basically the goal of management which guarantees the level of resource utilization that does not damage or exceed its recovery capacity, so that it can serving the living needs of present and future generations.

Abstract

Infection is a health problem that can cause death in the world. An antibiotics is a treatment used to treat infectious diseases. If antibiotics are used continuously, they can cause resistance. One of the bacteria that causes skin infections and has been reported to be resistant to several antibacterials is Staphylococcus aureus. So we need an alternative to exploring antibacterial compounds derived from the ocean. Sponge extract from the genus Agelas has been reported to contain secondary metabolites that are antibacterial. This research aims to determine the antibacterial potential of sponge extract and the secondary metabolite of sponge extract, Agelas cervicornis. The extraction process uses maceration with methanol as a solvent. The tests carried out in this study included a phytochemical screening test and an antibacterial activity test carried out using the disc diffusion method to determine the inhibition zone produced against the pathogenic bacteria Staphylococcus aureus. The results of phytochemical screening showed that the sponge extract of Agelas cervicornis contained flavonoids, alkaloids, and terpenoids. The results of the antibacterial activity test of the sponge extract of Agelas cervicornis showed that all concentrations of 0.5 mg/ml, 1 mg/ml, and 1.5 mg/ml had weak inhibitory properties.

Abstract

As industry continues to develop, both the oil and gas industry, agriculture and other non-oil and gas industries, the level of environmental pollution in Sidoarjo Regency is also increasing. Heavy metals are one of the pollutants in domestic waste and industrial waste which can affect river water quality and can have negative impacts on humans and the environment. The aim of this research is to determine the concentration of the heavy metals lead (Pb) and cadmium (Cd) in water, sediment and blood clam meat, determine the maximum consumption limit for the heavy metals Pb and Cd contained in blood clams, and determine relationship between Pb and Cd concentrations in waters, sediments and blood clams at research study, Tambak Cemandi and Banjar Kemuning station. The sampling method in this research used random sampling. Testing for heavy metals Pb and Cd uses Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS). The research results showed that the concentrations of heavy metals Pb and Cd in the waters, sediments and blood clams at the research location had exceeded the established safe limits. Pearson correlation analysis showed that there was no significant relationship between Pb and Cd concentrations in waters, sediments and blood clams.

Abstract

Prigi Nusantara Fishing Port is a port located in the south of Java Island. Where the production of fishermen's catches that can be landed at the Prigi Nusantara Fishing Port is 24,928,229 kg. It is necessary to have a management plan and identification of cold chain system distribution costs to maximize the distribution of catches, in this study to the Tulungagung area. Cold storage also has an important role in the cold chain system. Thus, this study plans to identify the management process identify distribution costs, and assess the role of cold storage. This research aims to identify the management process and identify distribution costs as well as assess the role of cold storage. The results of this management mapping plan are from fishermen to cold storage, cold storage processing, and transportation to markets and consumers. With a total cost of IDR 173,382,000/year, including operational costs of IDR 82,950,000/year and vehicle travel costs of IDR 90,43,000/year, using a Thermo King truck. Assessment of the role of government cold storage obtained a score of 45.8% while private cold storage 43.6%. The role of cold storage is still not optimal for storing fish to stabilize prices.

Abstract

Hybrid grouper (Epinephelus fuscoguttatus × E. lanceolatus) is a high-value marine fish with significant economic potential in both domestic and export markets. Effective nursery and grow-out management is essential to optimize growth, survival, and overall productivity. This study aimed to evaluate the optimal application of nursery and grow-out techniques for hybrid grouper in concrete ponds at the Marine Aquaculture Installation (IBL) Boncong, Tuban, East Java, Indonesia. The research was conducted over 13 weeks (February–May 2025) using a descriptive approach through direct observation, interviews, active participation, and documentation. Nursery activities included pond preparation, fry selection, acclimatization, size grading, feeding management, and water quality monitoring, while the grow-out phase involved feed management and health maintenance in floating net cages. Results showed an average Specific Growth Rate (SGR) of 6.4% per day and a final survival rate (SR) of 86.25%, meeting the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) minimum requirement of 80%. Effective feeding and optimal water quality contributed to high growth performance and fish survival. These findings indicate that proper nursery and grow-out management is crucial for productive and profitable hybrid grouper aquaculture.

Abstract
