Abstract

In vaname shrimp cultivation, one of the problem that often arise is the high production costs in provision of feed The use of probiotics is a viable alternative to reduce production costs. The probiotic that used in this research was Bacillus coagulans bacteria. This research was aimed to know the effect of the use of Bacillus coagulans bacteria in feed on weight growth, lenght growth, survival rate, feed conversion ratio, and water quality in cultivation on vaname shrimp. Post larvae 10 vaname shrimp as much as 25 pcs were placed in each aquariums with volume 50x40x40 cmfor 30 days. The probiotics with dosage of treatment 30 ml/kg; 50 ml/kg; 70 ml/kg were combined in commercial feed with the protein content 32%. The shrimp feeding method that used in this research was blind feeding with 4 times feeding a day. The result showed that the best treatment was 70 ml/kg feed giving the significant effect on weight growth, length growth, andfeed conversion ratio. The treatments didn't effect on SR however. The water quality such as DO, temperature, salinity, and was TAN still in the optimum value.

Abstract

Udang merupakan salah satu komoditas utama dalam program industrialisasi perikanan budidaya dan merupakan komoditas unggulan untuk ekspor produk perikanan budidaya. Dampak dari peningkatan budidaya tersebut yaitu kualitas lingkungan yang menurun sehingga menyebabkan timbul beberapa penyakit pada udang. Pencegahan dan pengobatan dapat dilakukan dengan antibiotik dan bahan kimia lainya, namun dalam jangka waktu yang lama dapat menimbulkan efek negatif terhadap lingkungan dan resistensi terhadap patogen. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari pengaruh ekstrak daun kelor terhadap imunitas non spesifik udang vannamei. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan januari-februari 2018 dengan menggunakan empat perlakuan yang diterapkan yaitu perlakuan A (0 mg/L ekstrak daun kelor), B (20 mg/L ekstrak daun kelor), C (30 mg/L ekstrak daun kelor) dan D (40 mg/L ekstrak daun kelor). Parameter yang diuji yaitu total hemocyte count, aktivitas fagositosis dan indeks fagositosis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak daun kelor sebagai imunostimulan dapat meningkatkan respon imun udang vannamei dan konsentrasi terbaik adalah perlakuan D (40 mg/L ekstrak daun kelor).

Abstract

Vibriosis is a disease that often attack shrimp culture, some of the most dangerous types of Vibrio bacteria are V. harveyi. The use of natural materials is an alternative that can be applied to prevent bacterial disease. One of the mangrove species that has an antibacterial compound is A. alba. A. alba has alkaloid, saponins, and flavonoids compounds that can inhibit the function of cytoplasmic membranes and energy metabolism in bacteria. This study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of A. alba leaf extract A. alba in inhibiting V. harveyi disease in vaname shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei). This research was conducted in several stages, namely extraction of mangrove leaves, both in vivo and in vitro. The highest SR, RPS and MTD values were obtamed at a concentration of 250 mg/l with each value of 80 %, 60 %, 75th respectively hour. Mangrove leaf extract A. alba was able to prevent diseases caused by the bacteria V. harveyi, with the best results at an extract concentration of 250 mg/l where the concentration can significantly higher SR, RPS, and MTD compared to other treatments.

Abstract

Enhalus sp. adalah salah satu jenis lamun dan merupakan tanaman yang sangat penting bagi organisme dan mikroorganisme laut diperairan, salah satunya adalah bakteri karena lamun menyediakan tempat hidup serta penyedia nutrisi pada bakteri. Beberapa hasil penelitian, menyatakan bahwa ekstrak lamun memiliki aktivitas terhadap bakteri yang membentuk biofilm. Terjadinya proses Biofouling diawali dengan terbentuknya film oleh bakteri yang menempel pada permukaan benda yang terendam di dalam laut yang disebut sebagai biofilm. Salah satu cara meminimalisasi biofouling pada umumnya dengan menggunakan bahan beracun yang tidak ramah lingkungan, sehingga perlu dilakukan pencarian alternatif baru untuk menghambat bakteri biofilm. Upaya untuk mengatasi permasalahan dengan menggunakan isolat bakteri endofit lamun merupakan salah satu alternatif ramah lingkungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan bakteri endofit lamun Enhalus sp. yang mampu menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri biofouling. Pada penelitian ini, sampel didapatkan dari pantai Ketapang Pesawaran dan pantai Biha, Pesisir Barat Lampung yang diambil dari bagian akar, batang dan daun lamun. Tahapan penelitian yang dilakukan yaitu pengambilan sampel, isolasi dan purifikasi bakteri endofit lamun dengan metode gores diatas agar, pembentukan bakteri biofilm sebagai bakteri uji pada uji antagonisme, isolasi bakteri biofilm, dan uji antagonis bakteri. Hasil dari isolasi dan purifikasi didapatkan 53 isolat bakteri endofit lamun Enhalus sp. yang akan diuji pada 25 isolat bakteri biofilm. Uji antagonis bakteri endofit lamun dengan kode LEDB2.4 dapat menghambat 4 jenis bakteri biofilm. Besar zona hambat terbesar yaitu terhadap bakteri biofilm dengan kode 3.1 sebesar 18,73 mm. Seagrass Enhalus sp. is a plant that very important for marine organisms and microorganisms in waters, one of which is bacteria because seagrass provides a place to live and nutrients for bacteria. Some research results state that seagrass extracts have activity against bacteria that form biofilms. The occurrence of the biofouling process begins with the formation of a film by bacteria attached to the surface of objects submerged in the sea which is called a biofilm. One way to minimize biofouling in general is to use toxic materials that are not environmentally friendly, so it is necessary to search for new alternatives to inhibit biofilm bacteria. Efforts to overcome the problem by using endophytic bacteria isolates from seagrass are an environmentally friendly alternative. This study aims to obtain the endophytic bacteria of seagrass Enhalus sp. which can inhibit the growth of biofouling bacteria. In this study, samples were obtained from Ketapang beach Pesawaran and Biha beach, West Coastal of Lampung that’s taken from the roots, stems and leaves of seagrass. The stages of the research carried out were sampling, isolation and purification of endophytic bacteria from seagrass, formation of biofilm bacteria as test bacteria in the antagonism test, and isolation of bacterial biofilm, and bacterial antagonist test. The results of isolation and purification obtained 53 isolates of seagrass endophytic bacteria which will be tested on 25 isolates of biofilm bacteria. Antagonistic test of seagrass endophytic bacteria with code LEDB2.4 can inhibit 4 types of biofilm bacteria. The largest inhibition zone was against biofilm bacteria with code 3.1 of 18.73 mm.

Abstract

Penggunaan air yang cukup tinggi untuk kegiatan budidaya menghasilkan limbah bahan organik. Jika limbah tersebut tidak diolah dapat menimbulkan permasalahan perairan budidaya. Masalah yang muncul diantaranya penyakit yang menyerang ikan budidaya, peningkatan amoniak dan pencemaran air bersih di wilayah tersebut. Guna menanggulangi permasalahan tersebut maka perlu dilakukan upaya pengelolaan air limbah budidaya ikan agar dapat dimanfaatkan fungsinya secara maksimal. Air sisa budidaya ikan mengandung bahan organik tinggi yang secara alami dapat dimanfaatkan langsung oleh tumbuhan. Solusi yang dapat ditawarkan untuk mengatasi permasalahan mitra program adalah pengenalan dan penerapan teknologi akuaponik bagi petani ikan di Kecamatan Jati Agung. Rangkaian kegiatan ini dapat meningkatan pemahaman dan keterampilan kelompok mitra pembudidaya ikan di Kecamatan Jati Agung dalam penerapan teknologi akuaponik. Teknologi ini diharapkan dapat mengurangi limbah kegiatan budidaya dan meningkatkan hasil panen serta mendapatkan hasil panen tambahan berupa sayuran, dengan demikian keuntungan yang akan didapatkan menjadi lebih besar. Tahapan kegiatan yang dilakukan adalah persiapan (survey dan sosialisasi) serta pelaksanaan (persiapan instalasi, penyemaian tanaman dan penebaran ikan, pemeliharaan, pemanenan, pengemasan, dan pemasaran). Rencana tahapan berikutnya yang akan dilaksanakan dalam program pengabdian kepada masyarakat adalah kegiatan pendampingan dan evaluasi yang meliputi pendampingan dalam teknik pengemasan dan manajemen pemasaran.

Abstract

One of the problems in North African Catfish (Clarias gariepinus) breeding is the inability to spawn spontaneously due to a specific spawning season. This happens due to reproductive dysfunction resulting in a slow development of gonads in catfish broodstock. This research aimed to study the effect of injection of pituitary gland extract from Striped Catfish head waste on the spawning performance of North Africans Catfish. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments were A (pituitary gland 0 mg/kg broodstock), B (pituitary gland 200 mg/kg broodstock), C (pituitary gland 300 mg/kg broodstock), and D (pituitary gland 400 mg/kg broodstock). The spawning process was performed with a ratio of 1:1 between male and female broodstock. The pituitary gland was injected into the head of female catfish at 07:30 pm and at 04:00 am. The research parameters observed were relative fecundity, fertilization rate (FR), hatching rate (HR), and survival rate (SR). The results showed that injection of the pituitary gland from Striped Catfish head waste could increase spawning performance with relative fecundity reaching of 31,357±12,265 eggs/ kg of female broodstock, FR 65±4%, HR 74±14%, and SR 81±10%. Therefore, hypophysation by utilizing Striped Catfish head waste is effectively increases the spawning performance of North African Catfish (Clarias gariepinus) seen from the high values of relative fecundity, FR, HR, and SR of larvae in treatment B (200 mg/kg broodstock).

Abstract

Non-specific immunities are the main defenses in the fish seed. One of the natural ingredients as a source of immunostimulants is Moringa oleifera. Moringa leaves contain flavonoids, alkaloids, terpenoids and saponins as immunostimulant agents. Immunostimulants are biological that can enhance the immune system. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Moringa leaf extract in increasing non-specific immunity in tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) seeds infected by Aeromonas hydrophila. In giving Moringa leaf extract intramuscular injection of 0.1 mL/fish with concentrations of 50 mg, 75 mg, and 100 mg. In this research method, a completely randomized design (CRD) was used with 4 treatments and 3 replications, each aquarium containing 12 tilapia measuring 8-10 cm each. Feeding on tilapia is done every 3 times a day namely morning, afternoon, and evening. The parameters tested were leukocytes, differential leukocytes, erythrocytes, phagocytic activity, and index. The results showed that the administration of Moringa leaf’s extract injected into tilapia seed can increase non-specific immunity, which are total leukocytes, total erythrocytes, differential leukocytes, activity, and phagocytosis index.

Abstract

BUSINESS MANAGEMENT AND BRANDING OF FISHERY PRODUCTS OF ECONOMIC VALUE IN PAGELARAN SUBDISTRICT, PRINGSEWU REGENCY. Fish processors in Pagelaran District, Pringsewu, are mostly still running on simple businesses. processing fish from their parents’ tradition, so that they have ability to run a processed fish business. Processors have not been able to produce a variety of processed products, the processing group has not been able to carry out business management properly, their lack on knowledge to understand the dynamics in the group, and still low in the utilization of information technology in online marketing. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct Community Service activities (PKM) to increase the income and welfare of members of the processing group. The main problem of fish processing capacity development is because of low knowledge and skills of the community related to more modern processed technology, business management, and information technology, especially online marketing. The dedication aims to help increase the capacity of fish processing in optimizing processed fish business as a source of income. In the service will be carried out mentoring in fish processing activities with product variations, business management such as bookkeeping, and information technology. The empowerment target that will be carried out is to increase the knowledge and skills of fish processors about the quality of processed products, about business management analysis, the importance of group dynamics for the development of fish processing groups, and related to online marketing information technology is still low members of the Erwina Fish Processing Group and has not certified products.

Abstract

Perubahan iklim di sebabkan oleh kenaikan gas karbon dioksida (CO2) semenjak era revolusi industri dimana hal ini dicirikan dengan adanya peningkatan suhu, paras muka laut, perubahan pola curah hujan serta meningkatnya kejadian ekstrim seperti banjir, kekeringan, gelombang panas dan badai. Fenomena ini akan berdampak serius apabila berlangsung secara terus-menerus. Blue carbon (karbon biru) merupakan karbon yang diperangkap dan disimpan melalui proses fotosintesis oleh organisme autotrof dalam bentuk biomassa dan sedimen oleh ekosistem pesisir dan laut. Mangrove merupakan salah satu dari eksosistem sebagai blue carbon tersebut. Mangrove Register 15 merupakan suatu kawasan mangrove yang berada Kecamatan Pasir Sakti, Kabupaten Lampung Timur, Provinsi Lampung. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis karbon tersimpan pada tegakan, nek romassa, serasah, dan substrat mangrove. Penelitian dilakukan dari bulan Maret–Mei 2021. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan karbon tersimpan pada sedimen lebih besar dibandingkan dengan karbon tersimpan pada tegakan, nekromassa, dan serasah. Karbon tersimpan pada sedimen yang tertinggi berada pada sedimen yang memili ki ukuran liat kasar karena liat kasar dapat menyimpan unsur hara yang tinggi.  Climate change is caused by an increase in carbon dioxide (CO2) gas since the industrial revolution era where it is characterized by an increase in temperature, sea level, changes in rainfall patterns and increased extreme events such as floods, droughts, heat waves and storms. This phenomenon will have a serious impact if it continues. Blue carbon is carbon that is trapped and stored through the process of photosynthesis by autotrophic organisms in the form of biomass and sediment by coastal and marine ecosystems. Mangroves are one of these ecosystems as blue carbon. Mangrove Register 15 is a mangrove area located in Pasir Sakti District, East Lampung Regency, Lampung Province. This study aims to analyze the carbon stored in stands, nec romassa, litter, and mangrove substrates. The study was conducted from March–May 2021. The results showed that carbon stored in sediments was greater than carbon stored in stands, necromass, and litter. The highest carbon stored in sediments is in sediments that have the size of coarse clay because coarse clay can store high nutrients.

Abstract

Akumulasi mikroplastik di lingkungan menimbulkan ancaman ekologis dan telah menjadi masalah serius di dunia. Plastik terdistribusikan secara global di lautan dunia tersebar di kolom air, permukaan air, sepanjang garis pantai dan pada sedimen. Salah satu strategi untuk menghadapi pencemaran mikroplastik yaitu mencari agen pendegradasi mikroplastik berupa mikroba. Mikroba yang memiliki aktivitas pendegradasi terhadap polimer biasanya dapat diuji untuk mendegradasi plastik. Sumber alami untuk mendapatkan mikroba potensial yang memiliki aktivitas pendegradasi bisa didapat dari organisme yang memiliki banyak bakteri endosimbion untuk hidup seperti Mangrove. Sehingga perlu kajian mengenai potensi bakteri simbion mangrove dalam mendegradasi plastik. Uji degradasi mikroplastik polyethylene menggunakan mangrove Avicennia marina telah mendapatkan beberapa isolat agen biodegradator mikroplastik yaitu isolat WB-12, PJ-01 dan PJ-02 yang telah diketahui memiliki aktivitas biodegradasi pada mineral salt media polyethylene.  The accumulation of microplastics in the environment poses an ecological threat and has become a serious problem worldwide. Plastics are distributed globally in the world's oceans scattered in the water column, water surfaces, along coastlines and in sediments. One strategy to deal with microplastic pollution is to look for microplastic degrading agents in the form of microbes. Microbes that have polymer-degrading activity can usually be tested for plastic degradation. Natural sources to obtain potential microbes that have degrading activity can be obtained from organisms that have many endosymbiont bacteria to live such as mangroves. So it is necessary to study the potential of mangrove symbiont bacteria in degrading plastic. Polyethylene microplastic degradation test using Avicennia marina mangrove has obtained some of the microplastic biodegradator agents, namely isolate WB-12, PJ-01 and PJ-02 which is known to have biodegradation activity in mineral salt media polyethylene.
