Abstract

Background: The integration of 21st-century character education in mathematics learning is crucial for developing students' academic and personal skills, ensuring they are prepared for future challenges. Objective: This study aims to describe the implementation of 21st-century character education in mathematics learning for elementary school students, specifically focusing on how these values are integrated into the curriculum at SD Negeri 2 Sukorejo, Klaten. Method: The research used a descriptive qualitative approach, involving the principal, teachers, and students as subjects. Data was collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, with validity ensured through source triangulation. Data analysis followed the steps of collection, reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. Results: The study found that the implementation of 21st-century character education at SD Negeri 2 Sukorejo was effectively integrated into the Learning Implementation Plan (RPP). This integration helped promote essential character values such as responsibility, critical thinking, and collaboration within mathematics learning. Conclusion: The implementation of 21st-century character education at SD Negeri 2 Sukorejo demonstrates that integrating character values into mathematics lessons can enhance students' academic skills and moral development. This approach contributes to preparing students for the challenges of the modern world. Contribution: The findings of this study provide valuable scientific information for teachers on how to integrate 21st-century character education into mathematics learning for elementary school students. Abstract

This study explores the role of primary school teachers in integrating sustainability values into education within an ecologically vulnerable context. It examines how teachers in Sorong City, Southwest Papua, act as agents of change through eco-pedagogical practices, despite facing challenges such as limited training and systemic support. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through observations, interviews, and document analysis. Findings reveal a gap between teachers' strong ecological awareness rooted in local experiences and their limited understanding of formal sustainability frameworks like the SDGs. While sporadic efforts to integrate environmental themes exist, a systematic, curriculum-aligned approach is lacking. The study highlights the potential for participatory eco-pedagogy to engage students and emphasizes the need for contextualized teacher training and curriculum reform. This research contributes a contextualized pedagogical framework for integrating sustainability values in similar settings globally, advocating for a shift from individual initiatives to structured, reflective, and sustainable educational strategies.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low learning outcomes of students, their lack of focus during lessons, and their limited enthusiasm for learning. Therefore, the aim of this research was to determine the effect of picture card media on the science learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SD YPK Yeflio, Sorong Regency. The research employed a quantitative pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest–posttest design. The sample consisted of 20 students. Data collection technique by distributing a multiple choice test instrument consisting of 20 questions, and the results were analyzed using normality testing and statistical analysis (t-test). The pretest results showed an average score of 60.25, while the posttest results showed an increased average score of 74.75. The t-test results indicated that the calculated t-value was higher than the critical t-value (11.854 1.72913) and the Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 was less than 0.05, leading to the rejection of H0 and acceptance of Ha. Thus, it can be concluded that picture card media has a significant effect on the science learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SD YPK Yeflio, Sorong Regency.
