Abstract

Moderate Islamic education, according to KH. Hasyim Asy'ari, seeks to address contemporary challenges while preserving the authenticity of Islamic teachings, remaining open to scientific advancements and differing opinions. The aim of this study is to explore the concept of moderate Islamic education developed by KH. Hasyim Asy'ari in Risalah Ahl as-Sunnah wa al-Jama’ah and to examine its relevance in the context of contemporary Islamic education. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method. The findings indicate that Islamic education based on KH. Hasyim Asy'ari's concept of moderation can serve as a solution in shaping a generation of Muslims who are ethical, broad-minded, tolerant, and capable of facing modern challenges without losing the essence of moderate and inclusive Islamic teachings. Pendidikan Islam moderat menurut KH. Hasyim Asy’ari berupaya menjawab tantangan zaman dengan tetap menjaga keautentikan ajaran Islam, namun tetap terbuka terhadap perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan perbedaan pendapat. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui konsep pendidikan Islam moderat yang dikembangkan oleh KH. Hasyim Asy’ari dalam kitab Risalah Ahl as-Sunnah wa al-Jama’ah dan untuk mengetahui relevansi konsep pendidikan Islam moderat KH. Hasyim Asy’ari dalam konteks pendidikan Islam kontemporer. Metode dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Hasil dalam penelitian ini adalah pendidikan Islam yang berbasis pada konsep moderasi KH. Hasyim Asy’ari dapat menjadi solusi dalam membentuk generasi Muslim yang berakhlak, berwawasan luas, toleran, serta mampu menghadapi tantangan zaman tanpa kehilangan esensi ajaran Islam yang moderat dan inklusif.

Abstract

Moderasi beragama merupakan elemen fundamental dalam mewujudkan keharmonisan di masyarakat desa yang kerap diwarnai dinamika keberagaman. Dalam konteks ini, pendidikan Islam di desa memiliki peran penting dalam menanamkan nilai-nilai moderasi beragama, terutama kepada generasi muda dan masyarakat secara umum. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji peran ajaran pendidikan Islam di Desa Balun dalam memperkuat nilai-nilai moderasi beragama. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan fenomenologi dan metode penelitian kualitatif, data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi lapangan, dan studi literatur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pendidikan Islam mampu memperkuat moderasi beragama melalui beberapa aspek utama, yaitu: (1) penanaman nilai toleransi, (2) penguatan akhlak mulia, dan (3) keterlibatan tokoh agama. Implementasi nilai moderasi beragama di desa ini dilakukan dengan melibatkan partisipasi aktif masyarakat Desa Balun melalui berbagai kegiatan seperti pengajian, dialog antar umat beragama, dan acara sosial keagamaan.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the influence of the Scaffolding Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model and self-efficacy on the internalization of tawazun (balance) values in Nahwu learning at Madrasah Aliyah. Tawazun, representing the balance in life, was integrated through understanding Arabic sentence structures such as the relationship between mubtada’-khobar and fi’il-fa’il. This research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design. The subjects were tenth-grade students of MA Mambaus Sholihin Gresik, selected through purposive sampling. Research instruments included a self-efficacy questionnaire and a tawazun value questionnaire. Data were analyzed using MANOVA tests. The results showed that the application of the Scaffolding PjBL model significantly improved students' understanding of Arabic sentence structure and increased their awareness of balance values in everyday life. Moreover, students’ self-efficacy contributed positively to strengthening the impact of the learning model on the internalization of those values. These findings recommend the use of contextual and reflective learning models to enhance student character development through Arabic language education.

Abstract

Mastery of Arabic speaking skills (maharah al-kalam) represents a central objective in language education. Yet, it remains particularly difficult to achieve in non-native learning contexts, where learners frequently experience low self-confidence and anxiety about making errors. Although Project-Based Learning (PjBL) has been conceptually recognized as a learner-centered approach capable of addressing both linguistic and affective challenges, empirical investigations examining its combined influence on speaking proficiency and self-confidence among female Arabic learners in Indonesia are still limited. This study examined the effectiveness of the PjBL model in improving Arabic speaking skills and self-confidence among female students enrolled in an Arabic Language Education program. A quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent control group design was employed, involving 40 participants divided into an experimental group (n=20) and a control group (n=20) over a six-week instructional period. Data were gathered through speaking performance tests and self-confidence questionnaires administered before and after the intervention, and analyzed using t-tests and the Mann–Whitney U test. The results indicated that the experimental group achieved greater gains than the control group, with a moderate improvement in speaking skills (N-Gain = 0.53) and a large effect size (Cohen’s d = 1.45). Additionally, students’ self-confidence increased significantly from a low to a high level. These findings confirm that PjBL is an effective instructional approach for simultaneously enhancing Arabic speaking competence and learner self-confidence.

Abstract

This study provides a comprehensive bibliometric mapping of the contested digital landscape surrounding religious moderation and extremism counter-narratives, specifically focusing on Indonesian millennial studies. As digital platforms become the primary battlefield for ideological influencehis research evaluates how scholarly discourse has evolved to address the radicalization of the youth. Using a bibliometric approach, this study analyzed a significant corpus of high-quality documents indexed in the Scopus database from 2020 to 2025. Data visualization and thematic mapping were conducted to identify dominant subject areas, keyword co-occurrences, and the most influential research contributors. The results reveal a significant multidisciplinary shift; while traditionally a sociological concern, the field is now dominated by Computer Science (18.2%) and Engineering (16.4%), followed by Social Sciences (10.2%). This indicates that counter-extremism efforts are increasingly relying on algorithmic strategies and digital interventions. The thematic analysis highlights a "Digital-Wasathiyah" paradigm, where the integration of AI and data analytics is seen as vital for scaling moderate narratives. However, "blind spots" remain, particularly concerning the influence of Generative AI on religious authority and traditional learning models millennials. The study is limited to Scopus-indexed data. The findings imply that religious moderation in Indonesia is no longer just a theological challenge but a technological one, requiring a "human-centric" AI approach to preserve social cohesion.
