Abstract

This study is aimed at revealing the strategies of advocacy for Muslim women and children who become victims of domestic violence in Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia.  This research was conducted at the ‘Legal Resources Centre for Gender Justice and Human Rights’ (LRC KJHAM) and the ‘Regional Technical Implementation Unit for the Protection of Women and Children’ (UPTD PPA). Data collection techniques include in-depth interviews and documentation. It employs two main theories, namely conflict theory and the maqasid al-shari’a (objectives of Islamic law). The results show that the advocacy efforts embrace complaint services, assessment, medical referrals, provision of safe houses, counselling, litigation and non-litigation legal assistance, empowerment, and policy advocacy. Based on conflict theory, a dialectic is found in domestic violence cases.  This can be observed that male dominance in a patriarchal system represents a thesis, whilst rejection of violence as a violation of human rights and Islamic principles embodies an antithesis, and advocacy as a form of resolution serves as synthesis. Furthermore, from the perspective of maqasid al-shari’a, this advocacy aligns with the five essential objectives of Islamic law, namely, preservation of religion (ḥifẓ al-dīn) through strengthening faith; preservation of life (ḥifẓ al-nafs) through medical services and safe houses; preservation of lineage (ḥifẓ al-naśl) through child protection and legal aid; preservation of intellect (ḥifẓ al-‘aql) through counselling; and preservation of wealth (ḥifẓ al-māl) through economic empowerment. This paper argues that the advocacy provided in these two institutions is not merely legal-formal, but also reflects a broader effort for social transformation rooted in Islamic teachings.

Abstract

Marriage Registration Officer (P3N) or in the community of Bener District, Puworejo Regency, familiarly called Kaum, is often used by couples who will carry out marriage. The task of the people is to assist in the administration of marriage registration at the local KUA, but since the issuance of the Instruction of Bimas Islam in 2015 the people through the instruction were dismissed from their status as P3N, interestingly although the status of the people formally has now been deactivated legally so that the existence and function of the people as PPN assistants have been removed, but in fact there are still many who use the services of the people until now, especially in the Bener District area. The purpose of this study is to examine and analyze the urgency and existence of the kaum in the marriage registration perspective of structural functionalism theory. This research is field-based (Field Research) with an empirical sociological approach method, while the data source comes from primary data, namely observation and interviews, while secondary data comes from books, articles and various references relevant to the above topic. The results of this study found that couples who register marriages at the KUA of Bener Subdistrict give trust to the people to take care of all the administration needed by the KUA, besides that the people also often become witnesses from the bride's side, host, and even remarks. In the social analysis of AGIL theory, namely adaptation, goal attainment, integration and latency. The function of adaptation is in the form of the adaptation commitment of the kaum in maintaining the mandate to the community and the government, the function of achieving goals is in the form of helping the community because the kaum play a lot of roles in the marriage process such as recording marriages, being witnesses, being mc and or remarks. The village government and KUA are also helped by the existence of kaum who try to get every married couple to register their marriage with the state. The function of integration is the formation of unwritten rules regarding the cost of kaum services, and the kaum can adjust to the poor community. The latency function is in the form of kaum strengthening synergy and good communication patterns to the Ministry of Religious Affairs/KUA, village government, and the community.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to analyze modern women’s relationships and the accompanying social problems from an Islamic legal perspective, using Imam al-Qurtubi’s Tafsir al-Jami’ li Ahkam al-Qur’an as the primary reference. This research gap lies in the limited number of studies directly linking classical fiqh interpretations to contemporary women’s socio-legal problems through contextual and socio-legal approaches. This study employed a qualitative approach using interpretive analysis and normative-contextual studies. Data were collected through a literature review of Tafsir al-Qurtubi, fiqh books, and academic studies on Islamic law and gender, supplemented with empirical social data from official sources and social observations of modern women’s relationships. The analysis techniques used are textual analysis, historical-contextual analysis, and a comparative analysis of the normative construction of the interpretation and contemporary social reality. The results of this study indicate that although the Tafsir Al-Qurtubi was born in a medieval patriarchal social context, it consistently positions women as equal legal and moral subjects. Key concepts such as qiwamah (the act of worship), honor, and women’s public role are interpreted as responsibilities and protections rather than as the basis for the legitimacy of domination. In this context, Tafsir Al-Qurtubi is a relevant normative basis for formulating just, inclusive, and welfare-oriented legal solutions for modern women.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and evaluate the feasibility of Virtual Reality (VR)–based learning media for practicum activities in Local Area Network (LAN) and Fiber Optic (FO) cabling. The method employed was Research and Development (R&D) using the 4D development model, which consists of the Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate stages. Three-dimensional assets were developed using Blender and integrated into Unity 3D with the C# programming language, then implemented on Oculus devices to produce an interactive and immersive virtual laboratory simulation. The feasibility testing was conducted through validation by media experts and subject-matter experts, as well as user trials employing the System Usability Scale (SUS). The results of expert validation showed a percentage of 88% from media experts and 92% from subject-matter experts, both categorized as highly feasible. User testing involving 20 students yielded an average SUS score of 70 (grade C/OK), indicating that the application is acceptable and suitable for use. The findings demonstrate that the VR media is capable of realistically visualizing the procedures of LAN cable crimping and fiber optic slicing, thereby supporting students’ conceptual understanding and practical skills. Therefore, this VR-based learning media is feasible to be utilized as an innovative alternative in computer network practicum learnin.

Abstract

Most indonesians consume rice as the main staple. The high low price of rice has an impact on farmers and communities, especially those who cannot afford it. Rice price forecasting is one of the important information to be considered for future rice prices. The data used is secondary data sourced from bps publication, Rural Consumer Price Statistics: Food Group, from January 2008 to December 2019 for 32 provinces in Indonesia. Time series  modeling and forecasting is usually done on a single variable using ARIMA. however, modeling becomes inefficient if there are many variables, so clustering time series analysis is performed using correlation distance with the clustering method of average linkage hierarchy. Cluster level ARIMA modeling with 4 clusters provides high efficiency because only by doing 4 times modeling results in accuracy values not much different from individual level modeling. the results obtained by individual-level ARIMA Modeling resulted in an average MAPE of 3.36%, while cluster-level ARIMA modeling with 4 clusters resulted in an average MAPE value of 4.27%, with a second MAPE difference of -0.91%. Formally conducted z test, the results obtained there is no difference between individual-level MAPE and cluster-level MAPE. This means that cluster-level modeling is relatively good and representative.

Abstract

This article examines a critical study of linguistic exegesis. Linguistic interpretation constitutes one of the principal approaches in Qur’anic exegesis. However, in practice, this approach has at times produced interpretations that deviate from the rules of the Arabic language, the contextual meaning of the verses, and established methodologies of Qur’anic interpretation. In modern Qur’anic studies, such deviations are often classified as part of al-dakhīl fī al-tafsīr. Therefore, criticism of linguistic exegesis should not be viewed as a rejection of language itself, but rather as an effort to preserve the objectivity of interpreting divine revelation. This article aims to classify the forms of criticism directed at linguistic interpretation and to present their examples in classical exegetical works. This study employs a qualitative method with a library research approach, examining works of Qur’anic exegesis and Qur’anic sciences. The findings indicate that criticism of linguistic exegesis can be categorized into three main forms: first, criticism of lexical interpretation; second, criticism of the application of grammatical rules; and third, criticism of the use of Qur’anic readings (qira’at) within the linguistic approach to Qur’anic interpretation.
