Abstract

Instruments have become an essential part of conducting a study or research. With the aid of instruments, the measurement process can be faster, more efficient, and more accurate. However, an instrument also has a limited service life. Over time, the performance of the instrument will degrade. Therefore, the equipment must be regularly maintained and calibrated periodically. This research aims to test the measurement consistency of a low-cost seismometer (RS-3D). The approach involves long-term measurements to assess the instrument's stability in taking measurements. The measurement data is then processed and presented as frequencies using spectrum analysis. The research findings indicate that the instrument's consistency is generally good, with an average standard deviation of 0.18 and a coefficient of variation of 5%. Additionally, 95% confidence interval calculations yielded values of 2.520.02 for measurements at RKD, 3.040.05 for measurements at GLT-USK, and 3.30.04 for measurements at GFT-USK. Data validation was performed using the equations from building codes, showing that the difference between the measured microtremor frequency and the empirical equation was less than 1, indicating good measurement results. The conclusion drawn from this study is that a higher standard deviation value indicates a more distributed data spread, signifying less consistent research data. Conversely, a lower standard deviation indicates that the data is more concentrated around the mean value, indicating more consistent measurement results. Moreover, with previous studies having conducted validation and consistency testing, it is hoped that both tests will be routinely performed during instrument maintenance.

Abstract

The Peunayong area holds significant historical value in the development of Banda Aceh. Initially, this area functioned as a trade center before transforming into a Chinatown during the Dutch colonial era, reflecting its cultural diversity. After the 2004 tsunami, Peunayong was designated as a historic district due to the numerous late 19th to 20th-century buildings featuring a blend of Chinese, European, and local architectural styles. However, this cultural heritage is threatened by rapid urban development, necessitating a long-term management policy. This study aims to identify the development of Peunayong across the sultanate, colonial, and independence periods using a qualitative descriptive method. The research utilizes six area maps from 1646 to 2023, representing the evolution of each period. The analysis focuses on land use, circulation systems, as well as building mass and form. The findings reveal both changes and enduring aspects, along with their dynamics, which can serve as a foundation for conservation planning. The maps indicate that Peunayong has maintained clear physical boundaries since early on. The persistent land-use aspects include ports, military functions, commercial areas, and residential zones. The circulation system has undergone significant changes, transitioning from a water-based to a land-based system, while building mass and form have gradually densified, shaping Peunayong's present-day character. Certain elements identified in the old maps can be strategically reinforced or reintroduced for historical education and to strengthen the area's identity, such as revitalizing residential and water transportation functions and interpreting the narratives of the railway line and Gadjah Island as inspirations for planning Peunayong’s historic district.

Abstract

The community of Lamtamot Village makes agriculture and plantations their primary income, especially areca nut plantations. The community has not used areca nut leaf waste to be used as products. The purpose of this paper was to determine the knowledge and sustainability of the utilization of areca nut leaf sheaths into creative local products and can increase household income for the community of Lamtamot Village. The activity began with distributing questionnaires before service activities (pre-test), socialization, distributing questionnaires after socialization activities (post-test), testing tools, and promotions. The results of the evaluation showed an increase in the level of knowledge and understanding of areca nut farmers and the community regarding the utilization of areca nut leaf sheaths into products that can be used and marketed. The highest moisture content test result on the areca nut leaf sheaths to be printed was 16.04%. In comparison, the lowest moisture content was 9.7%. The ideal leaf sheaths for printing were 12-16%. The next step was the testing of the areca nut leaf sheaths printing tools (machine manufacturer and plate production) to be able to form plates and curves as packaging. The community can operate the machine because the machine was very simple even though it uses a manual jack. The pre-test results from the questionnaire showed that 84 % of the respondents had no knowledge regarding the utilization of areca nut leaf sheaths. After completing the introduction of tools and explanations, 92% of the respondents already have knowledge of the utilization of the areca nut leaf sheath treatment, and 32% have the desire to develop an areca waste processing business. Products marketing is carried out online, supported by the ability of the public to access e-commerce accounts.

Abstract

Disaster mitigation is a disaster risk management strategy that can help reduce and minimize disaster impacts. Spatial planning policy is essential for disaster mitigation as it will affect the distribution of development and the vulnerability of communities to disasters. Communities living in coastal settlements are very vulnerable to disasters, so a spatial-based disaster mitigation strategy will provide an appropriate strategy for activities in coastal settlements, especially in the coastal areas of Banda Aceh City. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the role of spatial planning policies in supporting disaster mitigation, as well as to examine the implementation of mitigation strategies involving community participation and the use of GIS technology. This research used qualitative methods with a literature review approach to analyze, synthesize, and identify trends, gaps, and recommendations from various literatures related to spatial-based disaster mitigation, community participation, and GIS technology. The results of this study showed that spatial planning policies played an important role in reducing disaster risk, with a focus on proper zoning and protection of vital infrastructure. Adaptation strategies such as mangrove planting and effective evacuation routes were key to mitigation. Community participation and the use of GIS technology helped identify risks and develop hazard maps. However, challenges such as lack of policy socialization and limited spatial data remain obstacles to optimal implementation.

Abstract

Public transportation services are essential in supporting urban mobility and sustainability. However, valid and reliable measurement tools for assessing service quality, user satisfaction, attitudes, and behavioral intentions toward public transportation remain limited. This study aimed to evaluate the content validity of a newly developed assessment instrument designed to measure those constructs. A panel of eight experts representing academia, government, and public transport practitioners was engaged to review the relevance and representativeness of each item using Content Validity Ratio (CVR) and Content Validity Index (CVI). Experts rated each item on a four-point scale of relevance. Items with a CVR value greater than 0 indicating excellent content validity. Two items were revised based on expert recommendations to improve clarity and conceptual accuracy. These findings demonstrate that the instrument is a valid and representative tool for evaluating public transport service quality and user perceptions. Further testing is recommended to establish the construct validity and reliability of the instrument for broader application in transport policy, service evaluation, and behavioral studies.

Abstract

Abstract: Information on land use changes and land cover change studies to understand the dynamics of landscape change is very useful for planning sustainable landscape management. Changes to the landscape not only have an impact on people's welfare but also on the way people view and use the landscape. Land-based investments have implications for spatial development and influence landscape dynamics. Cities continue to experience growth, including cities on small islands. The city of Sabang, whose territory is small islands in Aceh Province, Indonesia, is experiencing an increase in local population, immigration, and government policy encouragement to improve the economy. It is worth paying attention to knowing the dynamics of landscape change and the driving factors based on local perceptions.  It is important to understand the patterns of land use and land cover changes from 2013 to 2021, as well as the driving factors based on local community perceptions that may influence future spatial planning and land utilization in Sabang City.  This study uses mixed methods consisting of analysis of land use and land cover change patterns based on remote sensing using ArcGIS and TerrSet software on Spot 6 and Spot 7 image data to provide information on the transition of land cover change. The results of the analysis of changes in land use and land cover from 2013 to 2021 and the driving factors based on local perceptions from elements of Sabang City society were carried out through questionnaires and semi-structured interviews covering 120 households. To assess the drivers of changes in the Land Use and Land Cover (LUCL) of the Sabang City area, which were analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) for Windows. The results of the analysis of changes in land use and land cover show that most of the land in Sabang is still covered by forest land in 2021, namely 50%. 175 ha, or 67%, of the growing built-up area is covered, while the infilling and outlying patterns are 44 ha and 42 ha, respectively. Respondents identified 17 driving factors, namely 10 proximate driving factors and 7 fundamental driving factors, as important drivers that contribute to changes in the landscape of Sabang City. The three closest drivers are Residential Areas, Forest Fires and Infrastructure Development. Meanwhile, land needs, changes in land prices and population growth are the three main drivers of LULC changes in Sabang City. Abstrak: Informasi perubahan penggunaan lahan dan studi perubahan tutupan lahan untuk memahami dinamika perubahan lanskap sangat berguna untuk perencanaan pengelolaan lanskap yang berkelanjutan.
