Abstract

The education system is defined as a process of learning something new, where the process can develop the potential within and then increase student interest in learning Increasing students' learning interest will have a good impact on teaching and learning activities so that learning results can be achieved. The learning that has been carried out so far seems to be still less than optimal, while students are required to master all existing concepts, especially on Animal Tissue material. In addition, the lack of optimal learning media is one of the reasons why student learning results’ decline. For that, it takes a learning media that can act as a bridge to understanding the concepts. The purpose of this research was to describe the level of effectiveness and practicality of using the Make a-Match cards on Animal Tissue material. This research was quantitative descriptive research. The model used was ASSURE with six stages. This study used a one group pretest-posttest design. The trial was carried out at XI MIPA 4 SMAN 8 Surabaya. Research instruments included test sheets, validation, observation, and student responses. The results showed that the completeness indicator scores 75% in the complete category, validation scores 79.3% in the valid category, the implementation observation was 100% in the very good category, and student responses were 94.5% in the very practical category. Thus, the Make a-Match Card learning media can be used for the learning process at school.

Abstract

Education in the 4.0 industrial revolution era has a curriculum that utilizes the internet of things (IoT) as a source or media in the learning process. Learning media that support is e-worksheet with crosswords games that will help students be motivated in the learning process. This study aims to develop a valid and practical e-worksheet based on crossword games with sub-materials Excretory System to improve learning motivation of students. This study is development research that uses the ASSURE model with steps: Analyze learners, State objectives, Select method, media, and materials, Utilize materials, Require learners’ performance and Evaluate/Revise. The e-worksheet research trial included 20 students of XI grades from Muhammadiyah 10 Gresik. Validity was determined by material experts, media experts, and a biology teacher at SMA Muhammadiyah 10 Gresik. The practicality of the e-worksheet was determined using students’ response questionnaire, students’ motivation questionnaire before and after using the product, implementation of motivation, and student activities. Validity and practicality data were analyzed using the descriptive quantitative. The result showed that the developed e-worksheet obtained an average validity percentage of 98.14% with very valid criteria. The practical e-worksheet obtained 93.5% of students’ responses, the increase in students’ motivation improvement from 60.1% to 86.8%, and 91.67% observation motivations implementation. The data that is received shows that e-worksheet based on crossword games are very valid and practical. Keywords: e-Worksheet, Crosswords, Excretory System, Motivation

Abstract

The role of the laboratory in education can improve skills, including scientific process skills such as analyzing, evaluating, and thinking. One of the thinking skills is high-level thinking involving complex judgment skills, such as critical thinking, but students' critical thinking skills in Indonesia need to be improved. One of the Biology materials that can be carried out in practice is the Human Circulatory System, including the blood group system and heart organ function concepts. It requires expensive tools and materials and avoids disease transmission, so an interactive virtual laboratory medium is needed, one of which is the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI). This study aimed to determine the effect of using the HHMI interactive virtual laboratory on the critical thinking skills of XI Senior High School students in the Human Circulatory System Material Heart Organ Subchapter. The research used the experimental method and quantitative research. The research design was a Post-Test-Only Control Design, providing a post-test for the experimental and control groups after treatment. The statistical analysis was non-parametric to test the Mann-Whitney U hypothesis with a significance level of 0.05 with SPSS 23. Based on the results of data analysis, it was found that the results of critical thinking skills had a significant difference based on the results of hypothesis testing, with a Sig value of 0.010 at a significant level of 5%. Based on these results, interactive virtual laboratories affect students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Objective:The challenges of the 21st century with massive technological developments and the energy crisis that is currently plaguing various countries around the world, including Indonesia, are a big task for the world of education to make all elements including students aware and care about the energy crisis that has hit so it is necessary to integrate in the learning process the application of sustainable learning with the POE (Predict-Observe-Explain) learning model to train students' critical thinking skills. Methode: The study employs descriptive quantitative methods. The data were processed quantitatively and then interpreted qualitatively. Result: The analysis of the data obtained a significant value on students' critical thinking skills with a fairly good category with a percentage of 52.46%, the average value of students' critical thinking skills was in the poor category with a percentage of 32%. Novelty: This study is expected to be taken into consideration in further developing the application of sustainable learning with the POE model, because this learning has novelty in developing other innovative learning. Another novelty can be found in the material taken in this study is very appropriate with the application of continuous learning POE model to train students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Objective: This research aims to analyze the profile of students' critical thinking abilities in physics learning, especially electromagnetic material, with the help of a problem-based learning model implemented at a university in Surabaya, Indonesia. Method: The research method used was included in preliminary research with a sample of 19 students. Data collection techniques use critical thinking skills tests, student response questionnaires, and lecturer interviews. Then, the data was analyzed using qualitative descriptions to represent the research results. Results: Analysis shows students' critical thinking skills are still relatively low. Critical thinking indicators that get an average score from high to low are interpretation, analysis, inference, and evaluation. An alternative that can be done to increase students' interest and critical thinking skills is to apply the PBL model in physics learning. Novelty: The novelty of this research lies in its new contribution to mapping students' initial abilities regarding their critical thinking skills with the help of the PBL model. This mapping helps lecturers evaluate physics learning, especially electromagnetic material, and determine what future steps can be taken to improve students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Innovative Blended Learning Through Meaning Model (IBLTM) in improving students' scientific literacy at Muhammadiyah 2 High School Sidoarjo. Method: This study used an experimental method with a one-group pretest and posttest design. The subjects of this study were 22 students of class X-1 who participated in learning using the IBLTM Model. Data was collected through a science literacy test instrument in 12 descriptive questions covering six indicators of science literacy. Results: The results of the data analysis showed that the implementation of the IBLTM Model was effective in improving students' scientific literacy. This is indicated by a significant increase in science literacy scores from pretest to posttest, with an average N-Gain of high category. The paired t-test showed a significant difference between the pretest and posttest. In addition, all indicators of science literacy increased, with several indicators reaching the high N-Gain category. Novelty: The IBLTM model applied in this study is an innovative learning approach that integrates the process of meaning in blended learning. This model has been proven to significantly improve scientific literacy, especially in science learning at the secondary school level, and shows that an interactive and meaning-based approach can positively impact students' scientific understanding.
