Abstract

Character is a trait that is inherent in every human being. Character formation can occur in various life processes. The process of character formation can be through traditional music games. Traditional games are cognitive symbols that are passed down from generation to generation. Forming character can strengthen an individual's identity and personality and directly develop a child's psychological aspects. Character formation aims to create a tough and strong personality in facing every situation and condition of children, especially the learning process. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a phenomenological type of research. The data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, documentation. The technique for determining the research sample uses a purposive sampling technique. The data analysis techniques for this research are data reduction, data presentation, drawing conclusions. The results of the research prove that there are several character values ​​that emerge in the process of playing traditional Edang Tatong music which include the value of cooperation in the form of harmony in the process of playing the music. The value of creativity in the form of skills in processing the edang tatong musical instrument both individually and in groups. The value of unity appears in the form of comfort between one another as a group in the process of playing edang tatong music. Academic grades have an influence on increasing the learning motivation of Edang Tatong music players. The value of democracy refers to the freedom to play edang tatong music without translating it. Cultural awareness values ​​Refer to how to properly care for culture and history over time and introduce many people to existing cultural heritage. The conclusion of this research study states that the edang tatong music game is one of the most important media in the process of forming children's character.

Abstract

Local culture serves as a source of life values that can be utilized in various educational contexts, including family guidance and counseling. One such cultural expression of the Manggarai people in East Nusa Tenggara is goet, a form of poetic proverb transmitted through traditional ceremonies and everyday life. This study aims to identify the life values embedded in the local goet tradition and analyze their implications for family guidance and counseling practices. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method with data collected through documentation, interviews, and participatory observation. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model, consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. The findings reveal that the goet tradition contains ten core values: religiosity, health, unity, wisdom, motivation, maintaining good reputation, ancestral connection, inheritance, marriage, and a sense of belonging to the village. These values hold potential as culturally responsive approaches within family counseling practices to enhance identity, harmony, and family resilience. The implications suggest that integrating local cultural values into counseling services offers an effective strategy to develop contextualized and socially relevant guidance practices.ABSTRAKBudaya lokal merupakan sumber nilai-nilai kehidupan yang dapat dimanfaatkan dalam berbagai konteks pendidikan, termasuk bimbingan dan konseling keluarga. Salah satu bentuk budaya lokal masyarakat Manggarai, Nusa Tenggara Timur, adalah goet, yaitu peribahasa puitis yang diwariskan secara turun-temurun melalui upacara adat dan kehidupan sehari-hari. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi nilai-nilai kehidupan yang terkandung dalam budaya lokal goet dan menganalisis implikasinya terhadap praktik bimbingan dan konseling keluarga. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui dokumentasi, wawancara, dan observasi partisipatif. Data dianalisis menggunakan model Miles dan Huberman yang mencakup reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa budaya goet mengandung sepuluh nilai utama, yaitu nilai religius, kesehatan, persatuan, kebijaksanaan, motivasi, menjaga nama baik, hubungan dengan leluhur, pewarisan, pernikahan, dan tentang kampung. Nilai-nilai ini memiliki potensi untuk digunakan sebagai pendekatan dalam bimbingan dan konseling keluarga guna memperkuat identitas, keharmonisan, serta ketahanan keluarga. Implikasi dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa integrasi budaya lokal ke dalam praktik bimbingan dapat menjadi strategi efektif dalam menciptakan layanan konseling yang kontekstual dan relevan secara sosial budaya.

Abstract

This study evaluates the implementation of the coaching program for Calasanz dormitory residents in Nekafehan-Atambua and the impact on the effectiveness of its coaching. Therefore, some of the problems are general problems: How is the implementation of coaching for Calasanz dormitory residents in 2024 and its implications for the coaching program? Specific Problems: How is the planning of the coaching program, the implementation of the coaching program, the evaluation and follow-up of the coaching program, and the implications for the mentoring program? The objectives of this study are: 1). General objective: To determine the implementation of coaching for Calasanz dormitory residents in 2024 and its implications for the mentoring program. 2). Specific Objectives: to determine the planning of the coaching program, the implementation of the coaching program, the evaluation and follow-up of the coaching program and its implications for the mentoring program. The method used in this study is qualitative research with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The informants in this study were 1) the general manager, 2) the dormitory supervisor and mentor, 3) the dormitory residents. The results of the study showed that coaching for Calasanz dormitory residents was carried out through the stages of planning, implementation, evaluation and follow-up. However, this study only uses qualitative methods so it does not include qualitative analysis of the impact of coaching on changes in the behavior of dormitory residents. The results of this study recommend increasing the number of mentors, optimizing activity schedules, and providing more complete supporting facilities to support the effectiveness of the coaching program.ABSTRAKPenelitian ini mengevaluasi penyelenggaraan program pembinaan bagi penghuni asrama Calasanz di Nekafehan-Atambua dan dampak terhadap efektivitas pembinaannya. Maka itu Adapun beberapa permasalahannya yaitu masalah umum: Bagaimana penyelenggaraan pembinaan penghuni asrama Calasanz tahun 2024 dan implikasinya bagi program pembinaan? Masalah Khusus: Bagaimana perencanaan program pembinaan, pelaksanaan program pembinaan, evaluasi dan tindak lanjut program pembinaan, dan implikasi bagi program pendampingan? Adapun tujuan dalam penelitian ini, yaitu: 1). Tujuan umum: Untuk mengetahui penyelenggaraan pembinaan penghuni asrama Calasanz tahun 2024 dan implikasinya bagi program pendampingan. 2). Tujuan Khusus: untuk mengetahui perencanaan program pembinaan, pelaksanaan program pembinaan, evaluasi dan tindak lanjut program pembinaan dan implikasinya bagi program pendampingan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi, wawancara, dan studi dokumentasi. Informan dalam penelitian ini adalah 1) penanggung jawab umum, 2) pembina asrama dan pendamping, 3) penghuni asrama. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembinaan bagi penghuni asrama Calasanz diselenggarakan melalui tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, evaluasi dan tindak lanjut. Namun, penelitian ini hanya menggunakan metode kualitatif sehingga belum mencakup analisis kualitatif mengenai dampak pembinaan terhadap perubahan prilaku penghuni asrama hasil penelitian ini merekomendasikan peningkatan jumlah Pembina, optimalisasi jadwal kegiatan, serta penyediaan sarana pendukung yang lebih lengkap untuk menunjang efektifitas program pembinaan.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the influence of peer conformity on cheating behavior among seventh-grade students at State Junior High School 10 Kupang during the 2023/2024 academic year. The study involved a sample of 81 students from classes VII A to VII K. A quantitative approach was employed, using questionnaires on peer conformity and cheating behavior as data collection instruments. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS for Windows version 26. The findings revealed that the calculated t-value (2.094) exceeded the critical t-value (1.990), with a significance level of 0.039, which is below the 0.05 threshold. This indicates that peer conformity has a significant effect on cheating behavior, Based on these results, it is recommended that school principals design programs to reduce cheating behavior, that guidance and counseling teachers provide services to address peer pressure, and that future researchers examine the effect of conformity in various social situations at schoolABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh konformitas teman sebaya terhadap perilaku menyontek di kalangan siswa kelas VII di SMP Negeri 10 Kupang pada tahun ajaran 2023/2024. Penelitian ini melibatkan sampel sebanyak 81 siswa dari kelas VII A hingga VII K. Pendekatan kuantitatif digunakan, dengan menggunakan kuesioner tentang konformitas teman sebaya dan perilaku menyontek sebagai instrumen pengumpulan data. Data dianalisis menggunakan regresi linier sederhana dengan bantuan SPSS for Windows versi 26. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai t hitung (2,094) melebihi nilai t kritis (1,990), dengan tingkat signifikansi 0,039, yang berada di bawah ambang batas 0,05. Hal ini mengindikasikan bahwa konformitas teman sebaya memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap perilaku menyontek. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, disarankan agar kepala sekolah merancang program untuk mengurangi perilaku menyontek, guru bimbingan dan konseling memberikan layanan untuk mengatasi tekanan teman sebaya, serta peneliti selanjutnya dapat mengkaji pengaruh konformitas dalam berbagai situasi sosial di sekolah.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of online game usage on students' learning motivation. The research sample consisted of 108 students from grades VII D-G at UPTD SMP Negeri 11 Kota Kupang. The method used in this study is quantitative. The variables studied include the independent variable (X), which is the use of online games, and the dependent variable (Y), which is students' learning motivation. Data were collected using a questionnaire as a data collection instrument. Data analysis was performed using simple linear regression techniques with SPSS for Windows version 26. The regression analysis results showed that the t-calculated value (5.101) was greater than the t-table value (1.891), with a significance value of 0.000, which was less than 0.05. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between the use of online games and students' learning motivation.ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh penggunaan game online terhadap motivasi belajar peserta didik. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari 108 siswa yang berasal dari kelas VII D-G di UPTD SMP Negeri 11 Kota Kupang. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif. Variabel yang diteliti meliputi variabel bebas (X), yaitu penggunaan game online, dan variabel terikat (Y), yaitu motivasi belajar siswa. Berdasarkan temuan tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan antara penggunaan game online dengan motivasi belajar siswa.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the personal problems experienced by a seventh-grade student at SMP Katolik Adisucipto Kupang, identified as LAK, who exhibits symptoms of low concentration during the learning process due to a physical health condition present since birth. The research employed a case study method through direct observation, interviews with subject teachers, the homeroom teacher, the school counselor, parents, and siblings, as well as documentation analysis of academic records. The findings reveal that the student frequently disturbs classmates, is restless in class, shows a lack of focus, and experiences a decline in academic performance. The contributing factors include internal aspects such as boredom and low motivation, and external factors such as peer influence and the student’s physical health condition. Interventions were provided through individual counseling using a behavioral approach, including the development of a daily study schedule, the application of time management techniques using the Pomodoro Method, and efforts to raise the student’s awareness to change learning behaviors. The results indicate that the intervention has the potential to improve the student's concentration and learning discipline, although continued monitoring by the school counselor, homeroom teacher, and subject teachers remains necessary. This study highlights the importance of behavioral counseling techniques in addressing learning problems among students with special needs related to concentration management.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the impact of parental divorce on the academic performance of a ninth-grade student at SMPK Adisucipto Kupang. The research subject, referred to as LL, is a 14-year-old adolescent who has lived in an incomplete family structure since before birth. His mother works in Malaysia, while LL lives with relatives and experiences both physical and emotional pressure. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method, collecting data through observation, interviews, and documentation. The informants included the homeroom teacher, guidance and counseling teacher, subject teachers, and LL’s close friend. The findings indicate that parental divorce significantlSy affects LL’s emotional condition, characterized by sadness, withdrawal, low motivation, and difficulty concentrating. These emotional challenges directly influence LL’s academic performance, which shows a noticeable decline, with most subjects not meeting the minimum competency standards. This study highlights the importance of emotional support and appropriate guidance to help students affected by parental divorce adapt and improve their learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the impact of online game addiction on the personal problems of a tenth-grade student at SMA Katolik Sint Carolus Kupang. The research subject was a tenth-grade student with the initials JP who exhibited online game addiction behaviors along with various personal and academic problems. This study employed a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation, involving the student, homeroom teacher, subject teachers, guidance and counseling teacher, and the student’s guardian. Data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that online game addiction has an impact on decreased discipline, increased dishonest behavior, frequent school absenteeism, and the emergence of impolite behavior during the learning process. The contributing factors originate from internal aspects of the student, such as uncontrolled freedom and boredom, as well as external factors including peer influence, excessive gadget use, lack of parental supervision, and easy access to the internet. Intervention was carried out through individual counseling using a behavioristic approach with modeling techniques to develop positive student behavior.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze learning difficulties that lead to low levels of student participation in classroom learning and to identify the factors influencing this condition. The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. The research subject was a junior high school student who exhibited passive learning behavior and limited participation in classroom activities. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews with the student, subject teachers, the homeroom teacher, and the guidance and counseling teacher, as well as supporting documentation. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that low student learning participation is influenced by internal factors, such as lack of concentration and self-confidence, as well as external factors, including the learning environment and teaching methods. Continuous guidance and counseling services, supported by collaboration among subject teachers and the homeroom teacher, play a crucial role in facilitating positive changes in students’ learning behavior. This study is expected to provide practical contributions to the development of school guidance and counseling services in addressing students’ learning difficulties in a comprehensive manner.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors influencing tardiness and absenteeism of student YN in Grade XII C at Sint Carolus Catholic Senior High School, Penfui, Kupang, during the 2025/2026 academic year. The research employed a qualitative approach using a guidance and counseling case study method. Data were collected through classroom observations, interviews with the homeroom teacher, subject teachers, and the guidance and counseling teacher, as well as documentation analysis in the form of daily attendance records. Data analysis was conducted through problem identification, diagnosis, prognosis, therapeutic intervention, and the formulation of conclusions and follow-up actions. The findings indicate that the student’s tardiness and absenteeism were caused by a combination of internal and external factors. Internal factors included laziness, low learning motivation, poor time management skills, and a tendency to stay up late due to excessive gaming. External factors comprised negative peer influence, a lack of parental supervision and attention, and the relatively long distance between the student’s home and the school. The impact of these problems was reflected in decreased academic achievement, reduced concentration during learning activities, undisciplined behavior, and less harmonious relationships with teachers and classmates. Intervention was carried out through individual counseling services using a self-management technique, along with educational guidance on time management, self-control, and the selection of positive peer environments. The evaluation results showed initial improvements in the student’s self-awareness and sense of responsibility toward school tasks; however, further development requires continuous assistance and collaboration among the guidance counselor, homeroom teacher, and parents. This study emphasizes that students’ learning discipline is the result of an interaction between personal and environmental factors and therefore requires an integrated approach for effective resolution.
