Abstract

This research aimed to find out whether the use of picture series media effective in increasing students’ vocabulary mastery. The research applied a pre-experimental method with one group pretest posttest design and the data were collected by giving pre-test, treatment and post-test. The sample of the research was VIII 8 at MTs Ma’arif Puro’ro which consisted of 15 students in the academic year 2021/2022, the population of this study was 30 students consist of two classes in the first grade at MTs Ma’arif Puro’ro. The research sample was chosen using a purposive sampling technique. The vocabulary test words were employed to gather information.The researcher findings show that the mean score of the students’ in vocabulary is proved by post-test was 70.66% is higher than the mean score of the students’ in pre-test 40.00% and the value of the t-test is greater that t-table (t-test>t-table). Vocabulary was greater than t-table (13.440>1.753), It means that the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted. In other words, using picture series was effective in improving students’ vocabulary mastery in terms of verb and noun.

Abstract

This research aimed to know whether Suggestopedia as Method can improve students reading comprehension especially at literal comprehension (main idea) and interpretative comprehension (conclusion) in the Second Grade Students of Madrasah Aliyah Guppi Samata. The researcher applied Pre-Experimental method with use one group pre-test and post-test design and collected data by giving pre-test and post-test. The sample for this research was Class XI of Madrasah Aliyah Guppi Samata that consisted of 15 students. The sample was taken by using Purposive Sampling Technique. The researcher wanted to know the students’ ability in reading comprehension so that, the researcher found that too much students when pre-test got poor score. The improvement of the students’ literal comprehension by using Suggestopedia Method at Second Grade of Madrasah Aliyah Guppi Samata was good. Suggestopedia method brings good effect in reading comprehension because with using Suggestopedia, the students be active, relax, and not afraid in the class, the students’ can improve reading skill, and can help students to stimulate good mental condition. Meanwhile, the improvement of the students’ interpretative comprehension by using Suggestopedia Method at Second Grade of Madrasah Aliyah Guppi Samata was good. The effect of suggestopedia method in reading comprehension in term of interpretative comprehension help students to stimulate students’ good mental condition before the students’ answer the questions.

Abstract

The objectives of this research are: (1) To explore the styles of empathic listening skill used by EFL teacher in the classroom at SMP Negeri 4 Majauleng; (2) To determine EFL students’ perceptions toward empathic listening skill in the classroom at SMP Negeri 4 Majauleng. This study employed a qualitative research methodology. The researcher used a qualitative method, observing classrooms through video and audio recording, documentation, and interviews with teachers and students. The subject of the research was 20 students from one class who have participated in emphatic learning activities and assessed their views of emphatic listening in the learning activity SMP Negeri 4 Majauleng. The instrument of the research used observationand Interview. The Result of the research show that EFL teacher of SMP Negeri 4 Majauleng applied five empathic listening styles, they are questioning, advising, judging, analyzing and supporting. The students gave positive perception toward the used of empathic listening skill by the teacher in the classroom due to the fact that the emphatic listening gave good influence to the listening skill of the students.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is an influence on the use of spinning wheel media in speaking, especially in the vocabulary and fluency of students in class X Sman 6 Bontoa Maros. This study uses a pre-experimental method to analyze data with a quantitative design. The instruments used were speaking tests and oral tests which consisted of a pre-test, treatment and post-test. The population is students in class X Sman 6 Bontoa Maros and the sample is X MIPA 1 with the use of purposive sampling technique.. This opinion was proven by the results of students' scores in the form of speaking texts, things This can be seen by the higher post-test average scores, namely vocabulary (79.10) and fluency (85.73) compared to the pre-test vocabulary (44.47) and fluency (46.31). Furthermore, there was an increase of 77.0% (vocabulary) and 85.0% (fluency) in learning to use spinning wheel media for six meetings. In addition, the difference in the value of the t-test is higher than the value of the vocabulary t-table (73.262 > 2.101) and fluency (21.075 > 2.101).
