Abstract

This study aims to describe the social reality in the novel Merindu Cahaya de Amstel by Arumi Ekowati. This study is a type of library research. The data collection techniques used are reading techniques and note-taking techniques. The data in this study were analyzed using a sociology of literature approach. Based on the results of the study in the novel Merindu Cahaya de Amstel by Arumi Ekowati and the conclusion there is a social reality about family disorganization, the existence of family relationship breakdowns and its impact on individuals in building identity and facing social life, social reality about culture oriented towards diaspora and cultural identity, multicultural interaction, cultural heritage and cultural preservation, social reality about religion oriented towards spiritual journey, challenges in practicing Islamic teachings, and how a convert struggles to maintain his faith, social reality about education oriented towards access, support, and academic dynamics in the education system, social reality about the economy oriented towards survival strategies and individual financial independence in facing economic challenges, social reality about the problems of the younger generation in modern society oriented towards independence, challenges in finding work, economic struggles, to the search for the meaning of life, and social reality about violations of community norms on awareness of human rights, protection of women, and individual struggles to uphold justice in the face of acts of violence or coercion.

Abstract

This research aims to depict the forms and meanings of semantic reduplication in the Indonesian language within the novel "Laskar Pelangi" written by Andrea Hirata. The methodology employed in this study is qualitative description. The research gathers written data from the text of the novel "Laskar Pelangi," authored by Andrea Hirata, which is collected through reading and note-taking techniques. Based on the research findings, three forms of semantic reduplication can be identified: the form involving free morphemes repeated with other free morphemes, totaling 40 instances; the form involving free morphemes repeated with bound morphemes, amounting to 32 instances; and the form involving bound morphemes repeated with other bound morphemes, present in five instances. Furthermore, semantic reduplication in the Indonesian language conveying meanings of various groups or collections of different types of words or basic forms is found in 24 instances. Semantic reduplication in the Indonesian language signifying intensive meanings is present in 36 instances of the gentle-soft type and 17 instances of the breakable-split type.

Abstract

This research aims to describe students' abilities in writing reviews of works of fiction for class VIII SMP Negeri 10 Kendari. The method used in this research is a quantitative descriptive method. The sampling technique used Proportional Stratified Random Sampling, namely 92 students consisting of five classes. To obtain data about the ability to write reviews of works of fiction, the instrument used in this research is needed, namely a written test. Individually, there were 23 students (25%) who were in the capable category and 69 students (75%) were in the unable category to write reviews of works of fiction. What can be concluded classically is that class VIII students at SMP Negeri 10 Kendari are in the category of not being able to write reviews of works of fiction. It is said that they are not yet capable because individually students have not reached the Learning Completeness Criteria (KKTP) of 66% (25%) and have reached the classical completeness criteria of 85%. Judging from the level of student ability in each aspect of the assessment, namely the identity of the short story (100%), the character of the story (98.91%), the nature of the character (68.47%), the setting of the place (53.26%), the setting of the time (91.30%), background atmosphere (35.86%), theme (68.47%), storyline (%), student opinions (%), reviewer assessment (5.43%), words that contain connotative meanings and denotation (3.26%). Of the total aspects assessed, eight aspects were included in the deficient category because classically the percentage did not reach the Classical Achievement Criteria of 85%.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of using image media on the ability to write fantasy story texts in class VII students at SMP Negeri 10 Kendari. This type of research includes quantitative research. The method used is an experimental method in the form of a nonequivalent control group design in a pretest-posttest only control group design. The population in this study were all class VII students at SMP Negeri 10 Kendari, totaling 154 people consisting of 5 parallel classes. Sampling used purposive sampling technique. Class VII-2 is the experimental class sample and class VII-1 is the control class sample. The research results were analyzed using the dependent t test and independent t test. The dependent t test using the paired sample t test formula shows the results in the experimental class, namely the t count value is greater than t table (12.350 > 2.042), while the control class t count value is greater than ttable (4.734 > 2.042), so it can be concluded that there are differences in learning outcomes from average pretest and posttest scores in the experimental class and control class. The independent t test using the independent sample t test formula shows the results that the tcount value is greater than t table (2.763 > 2.000), meaning that there is a significant difference between the experimental class and the control class. Soit can be concluded that there is an influence of the use of image media on the ability to write fantasy story texts in class VII students at SMP Negeri 10 Kendari.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan diskriminasi sosial yang terdapatdalam Novel Hello karya Tere Liye. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kepustakaan (library research) dan metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Metode penelitian kualitatif bertujuan untuk menjelaskan suatu fenomena denganmendalam dan dilakukan dengan mengumpulkan datasedalam-dalamnya hingga memperoleh gambaran utuh tentang diskriminasi sosial dalam novel Hello karya Tere Liye. Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah data tertulis berupa teks (kalimat, kata, frasa, dan diksi) yang terdapat pada novel yang memuat diskriminasi sosial dalam novel Hello karya Tere Liye. Teknik yang digunakan dalam pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik baca cermat dan catat karena datanya berupa teks. Analisis yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik pembahasan heuristik dan hermeneutik. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian terhadap novel Hello karya Tere Liye, diskriminasi sosial dalam novel ini muncul dalam dua bentuk utama, yaitu diskriminasi langsung dan tidak langsung, yang berdampak pada hubungan antar tokoh serta perkembangan karakter mereka. Diskriminasi langsung yang ditunjukkan melalui penolakan eksplisit terhadap tigor karena status sosialnya sebagai anak pembantu. Raden Wijaya yang secara terang-terangan melarang Tigor untuk menjalin hubungan dengan Hesty, meskipun Tigor telah sukses dalam pendidikannya dan diskriminasi ini juga terlihat dalam cara masyarakat memandang seseorang berdasarkan latar belakang. Diskriminasi tidak langsung ditunjukkan melalui stereotip dan ekspektasi sosial bahwa seseorang dari kelas bawah tidak pantas untuk bersanding dengan orang dari kelas atas, yang di mana dalam novel ini norma Sosial dalam keluarga Hesty dan masyarakat sekitar menunjukkan bahwa ada batasan tak kasat mata yang membedakan kelas sosial tertentu. Abstract

This study aims to describe students’ attitudes towards Indonesian language learning in class VIII of SMP Negeri 2 Wadaga, West Muna Regency. A quantitative descriptive method was used with data collected through a structured Likert-scale questionnaire and classroom observations. The questionnaire included four response options: strongly agree, agree, disagree, and strongly disagree. The results revealed that most students expressed a strongly positive attitude toward learning Indonesian. Their responses indicated high enthusiasm for lessons, appreciation for teachers’ teaching methods, and recognition of the relevance of the learning materials to daily life. These findings demonstrate that students’ attitudes are shaped by the teacher’s instructional approach, engaging learning media, and meaningful content. In general, students’ strong agreement reflects a positive emotional and cognitive connection to the subject. The implication of this study is that teachers should maintain and strengthen interactive and contextual learning strategies to foster students’ positive attitudes and motivation toward Indonesian language learning.
